    Thanks for reviewing this track saw square. I had this pop up on the Bangood app when I was checking out the parallel guides after your review of those. I was concerned about accuracy as there is no indication it can be adjusted. Even the Woodpeckers version does not indicate how to adjust it in the manual. Showing this ability on your review has me sold. I will be ordering one of these for sure! Thanks!

    Cheers, Ryan, and thanks again for taking the time to share your experience with this excellent looking tool! Just ignore the trolls. Any suggestion that you are somehow trying to make cash out of flogging Banggood products, seems entirely misplaced.
    I've purchased many myself - only the parallel guides on your recommendation - and can say, almost without reservation, that I have no complaints. All the measuring and marking tools have been absolutely spot on and amazing for the asking price.
    I've only had one failure so far, and that was because I didn't do my homework. I bought the mitre guide for my table saw, and it doesn't fit. Alas, being the owner of the non-standard Evolution Rage 5s, the mitre slot is too shallow to play well with the guide.
    That said, I'm over the moon with all my other purchases, and will, on the strength of your demo' take a closer look at this adjustable square.
    Best of luck to you, and your business!👍

      I would second this comment. Both in thanking Ryan for bringing to everyone’s notice Banggood and another appreciation of Banggood. I tipped my toe in the water several years ago after watching a video from Manor Wood. I got the measuring tools and tested each one excepting to keep this one; reject that one - but then and now, I haven’t had a single failure. One thought though, all the tools I have bought are branded Veiko; given that Banggood is effectively a retailer, I would urge caution on people who might buy tools other than Veiko.
      Ryan and I (from a response to a comment from me) have come under criticism for buying from China. I certainly despise all that the Chinese Government stand for -and I can’t imagine that Ryan is any different. Given that precision tools are made virtually 100% by CNC and the amount of labour involved is minimal, how can Veiko produce outstanding, accurate tools for a fraction that Woodpecker does? The answer, I believe is that they don’t. I would suggest that Veiko and Woodpecker (as an example) make a square for pretty much the same cost each. I would even say that shipping cost is not a great factor. That leaves 2 possible differences. Firstly, Veiko sell direct, albeit through the Banggood website; woodpecker sell to a retailer who puts on a mark up. Secondly, the profit margin that Veiko and Woodpecker want to make.
      It seems to me that the real reason for extra cost of Woodpecker over Veiko is that Woodpecker, who try and maintain themselves as a premier brand, do earn a larger margin and that the retailer Laos earns a good margin. To give an example, I was watching a YT video of a small company here in the UK making “premier brand” frying pans involving spinning the steel base and not pressing. The product looked fine to me but I couldn’t see why I would pay the £50 that they say that this particular size of frying pan could be bought for. Then the video switched to an office shop and there was the lady of the company talking on the phone and using the company’s price list. I freezes the shot and was able to see that, yes, they did recommend a sales price of £50 but the price at which they sell that same frying pan to a retailer is…….£15. Over 300% profit? That level might be the exception but it does illustrate that “premium brand” products can be money producing items for manufacturers and retailers.
      Going back to China, I would suggest you look up where DeWalt, Bosch, Makita etc. actually make their items. China is the common denominator although most also have factories in other lower cost countries. I think it’s only Festool and Mafell that make exclusively in Europe. So don’t think that your Bosch was made in Germany; your Makita in Japan or DeWalt in the USA.
      And, to mention Festool, I wonder how long they have been able to get away with requiring all retailers to sell their goods at the same price. That’s not only illegal in the UK, it’s also immoral to customers. But, “premium brand” again

    Just a note that the digital angle protractor used to check the cut at about 11:00 in probably has an accuracy of +/- 0.2 degrees at best, so the angle actually cut may be bang on.

    Nice adjustable bit of kit if you are doing a lot of angles. My guess would be that most of the time it’ll be locked at 90*. Shame it hasn’t got the tilt over lug on both sides so that you could use it to reference off the back edge as you can do with the Benchdogs version. Still at nearly half the price it’s fair.
    Pity you are getting your millimetres and degrees mixed up though. 0.1* is not the same as 0.1mm. The number of mm error will depend on the length of the cut.

    • @georgemuff5482
      @georgemuff5482 Před 2 lety +2

      So, I picked one of these up. Unfortunately the tilt over lug on the back side of the square would be of no use. There is a rounded convex section in the red aluminum base supporting the rotating section. This will not allow it to be used as a square on the far side as the Benchdog and TSO squares are able. You can see this at the very start of the video where he carries the square upside down.

      @@mdeflyer No, I have kept and so far really like the square. It is a little heavy, just over 4lb, but seems to function as it should. I was merely providing clarification to your comment about being able to have the tilt over lug on both sides and use on either end of the cut. The square is only designed for use at the near edge

    If a certain country goes calling on Taiwan, international trade will be disrupted for some years.
