There seems like a public amnesia about that period. He was easily a top 10 nba player (averaging approximatively 25-6-5) on his way to bringing back a scrappy Wizards team to the playoffs. The injury derailed himself and the team. In fact, Michael Jordan the GM held back Michel Jordan the player. Had he been a better GM, Had he drafted better, or simply had he chosen a slightly better team than Washington, he was going to the playoffs.

@RESERVES You're fucking hilarious. 2nd weakest era? In that era I'm sure hand checking was allowed. If not, at the very least, defense was way more physical. A slightly hard foul today can be easily called a Flagrant 1. In that era, those were considered normal fouls. In the 80s NBA began implementing flagrant fouls but really reinforced it in the beginning of the 90s. Hence the reason why the 80s is considered to be one of the toughest era in NBA history.
LeBron, Westbrook, Harden, KD, Kawhi, Curry, etc. have all had the benefit of playing in today's era which is small ball and much easier to score points cause defense is barely played anymore. Yet, LeBron still is 3-6 when he should be 6-3. And don't give me that BS where his team didn't perform. While I do acknowledge that he's had clutch moments, he's had far more choke moments (he will never get a pass for his performance against Dallas).

Jordan scoring well I dont think I need to explain dude was a scoring machine. Scoring especially dunking on big men and posterising them was and is the big Wow factor.
Jordan had that in spades BUT as year after year went by (while he had no help) he was criticized for things just a scorer, cant pass, I believe his defense was questioned and the shrug game in respones to Jordans 3 pt shot critique
What Jordan had most dont is the ability to understand how to apply his skills. He read the game and adjusted. Example ic the Bulls were getting spanked on the glass Jordan would then help board. Jordans understanding of how to apply his skills made him unbeatable.

A lot of ppl criticized MJ because he is not nice to fans (lots of stories). And of course, the gambling issues. But I think it's these traits that shaped him into the player he was. I don't think he'd be as great if he wasn't this ridiculously competitive and an asshole privately. But now that he isn't competing anymore, I hope he mellowed a little to fans.

Don't believe the hype. MJ took care of his body. Who do you think started off season training with trainer Tim Grover in Chicago and made him a household name as a trainer in the late 80's.

djbhe that was to get him stronger against the pistons and he helped mike master mental preparation and mental toughness after that nothing really just typical Mike! He lived his personal life very mysteriously and every time we saw him he was always strapped with a cigar imagine what else he was doing when having fun!

MJ was a workout fiend. He started the "Breakfast Club" where he would train physically and mentally. Many NBA players would join MJ's club during the offseason and workout. Kids today will eat up any type of revisionist history. Pathetic.

I'm as big a Jordan fan as anybody but we are talking about riding in a golf cart for two rounds of golf and drinking around 10 beers all over the course of probably 8.5-9 hours. 10 beers in 9 hours and riding around in a cart. Yeah it's a cool story but that's really not that much exertion and not that much alcohol. Jordan routinely played two rounds in a day as that's VERY easy in a cart. Walking and playing golf is a completely different story.
