Not sure its true, but there was a story I heard in Seattle. Gary Payton walked up to Jordan and put his Ferrari keys on the table and said "I got one too" and Jordan just replied "yah but you paid for yours".

The year I went to the Kentucky Derby I saw all kinds of celebrities, heck Richard Branson accidently kicked me in the stomach as I was taking a short breather/nap in the infield. The most memorable part of the whole weekend was standing in the Foyer of the Galt Haus and seeing MJ and Charles Oakley get off that elavator, it's the one and only time in my life I was completely star struck to the point I couldn't speak.

The way you win, the ways you sacrifice to do so, creates an arrogance.
People without arrogance and confidence don’t do 3-peats.
In the realm of everyday interactions, he’s a jerk, but in the realm of sports, it creates legends. Competitors thrive on competition, and distraction, not friendships and normalcy.
You sacrifice a decent personality to win sometimes, and sometimes that’s the only way you can stay on top.
To win 6 Finals and never see a Game 7 is a rarity you won’t find. The personality behind that type of will, that type of consistency, probably isn’t the greatest guy. His focus is probably laser sharp, and it’s not on making you feel better about you.

Lebron has been the Man in the league (and by that I mean the Most Important Person Playing Basketball in the NBA) for many more years than MJ, or anybody else for that matter, and has managed to do so with SelfConfidence and aplomb, with the utmost respect and deference for team mates, fans, competitors, the Game, even the employees of the arenas. Always striving for Greatness, but not just his, but everyone else and THIS is the great difference that makes him and others like him, real heroes.
This kind of stories that MJ fanboys like to ooh and aah about speak very bad about his real character and theirs.
This type of anecdote reflects a sick, narcisistic person, with a pathologic desire to best everybody else at all times. And for the record that's not good.
As an sportsman, on the court, he was the best for long and may or may not be the best as a player.
But among the great champions of the game he is miles behind the likes of Jabbar, Russell or Curry or Lebron pertaining to Human Quality and that is the real Greatness that we should all strive for.
