Wow this brings back memories from 18 years ago when got my first savage, the smell of nitro is bliss...the sound, it was all very exciting..
I fully updated all the drive train and bigger hexes everything on the car and the raido gear..
Sold it all in 2021..I wish I kept it..
The entire new Hpi savage nitro line up needs to be global news! The electrics too! It’s like actually a thrilling saga of the best toy equipment perfected over 3 and a half decades. Just tiny adjustments and changes make it perfect! 🎉
Good stuff man I just built my own savage from the ground up! I love the savage so much nothing beats this truck bashing when everything is dialed. The extra gearing is sickening.

Having trouble deciding between this and the regular X. Alot of extra goodies on the XL for just 100 more, but I do like how the smaller X is more agile and nimble.
PS: saw you made a small hole in the body for the glowplug igniter! Good idea, dont know what HPI thought.

i didn't need to to much honestly just adjusted 3rd gear shift point.
Tune is dialed man, perhaps a touch lean but loads of power hey. You know I played padel here in Dubai with a friend of mine who knows you well. Saif? Anyway, it was nice to hear of some of the mischief you and him used to get up to. Keep ripping dude

I'm not mistaken. The controllers are made by tactic
they used to make fuel tank mounting upgrade for this. I think hpi offered it back when i had a xl 5.9 2 gen and it made the tank way more stable.

Did you find you had to tune the gearbox later on at all? I'm looking to buy one of these but the gearbox issues put me off a bit maybe they did indeed fix gearbox on the later ones
Did the 3 speed shifting right out of the box, or did you have to adjust the shifting point?
You should still be able to find an aftermarket battery meter that you could find a way to mount

I think this is the updated version for the same model because the logo on the side of the chassis look different

Its not bad honestly just savages are not the easiest to control at high speed

There should be some o-rings under the fuel tank mount tabs. Assembler must have forgotten to put them on. Part number is 6899
Edit: Just saw you added some later in the video
There were but they weren't enough had to put another set above :)
@carbonelement77 my savage came out of the box missing the body clips that are supposed to hold the tank down. Rubber o-rings were underneath the tank but it was just sitting there.
Maaaan. I got a savage 5.9 i crashed years ago and i cant even find parts for it anywhere. Anyone got a good place i can go for them? Cant even find parts at hpi

1/8 turn richer on high speed ..1/16 open on low it will be perfect its a touch lean everywhere its running on the ragged edge !!!

By now I would bet that engine has burned up being that lean. Nearly no smoke and sounds wayyyy lean.

It's not too lean if it continues to work after how much he beat on it. My F4.6 savage sounds the same and it's still going strong after 2 years of bashing! 😅

im not sure but your engine doesnt sound goood its tooo lean there is no smoke coming out hes not getting power
