I love my 3gen 06 with 6spd. Gets 22 mpg with a lift and 35s. Very reliable but Washington state is killing it with salt. Probably get another one soon to replace it.
I’d love to win both of these trucks. I’d daily drive the 3rd Gen and use the 1st gen for a fair weather cruiser.
That first gen could be a monster with some upgrades to the engine and a 48re
I got a really nice 1st gen but I would trade for a comprable 3rd gen for all the reasons you mentioned. I bought It for their praised longevity but Im realizing that to get to that million mile mark costs a fortune in repairs and maintenance. One big thing to also consider is 1st gen parts are getting harder and harder to find.
The first gen is fantastic beautiful truck and would love to win it but would rather have 3rd gen just for the fact of I'm going to use it like a pickup truck and I would hate to scar up that beautiful 1st Gen I would tip toe with the 3rd gen but it would be more likely to get worked like a pickup

So who won? I thought both these trucks were being given away last Sunday. Now the 1st gen is back up again.
I love and prefer the 3rd gen and it would be beyond awesome to have and finish. I never expect to win, just a hope and a prayer. I will be so depressed if I don't win, but anyway boo Hoo. The 1st gen is tastefully done. A semi-truck driver had one that was dark grey and silver back in the nineties. He pulled a large camper with it and never had any mechanical issues. just some recalls. I would want wider tires to give it custom BA stance if it was mine.
3rd gen all day. Can do everything better n more. Plus can throw the kids n wife in to.
