We have two tankers to back it up with no hydrants on our side of town.
There is a small dowel pin on these trucks used to align the timing gear housing on the block.They are known to vibrate out and can fall into the timing gears.I would definitely check into to fixing that. It’s referred to as the killer dowel pin.

I am the truck Lt.for a rural volunteer fire department. I maintain the small engine driven pumps on multiple trucks. Be sure you get a "Darley dual diaphram high pressure pump" to go with your tank set-up. Remember "if you aint first...you're last!"
You were talking about the weight of water. Fresh water weighs 62 lbs a cubic ft. Salt water weighs 64 lbs cubic ft. Years ago I worked for a bread company that pulled the 6cyl gas chevy engines out of bread trucks and replaced them with 4 cal cummins Diesels. Biggest Issue was they didn't change the suspension or change the rear end ratio. The 4cyl were the same engines as the backhoes.

The 12v you want is in the second gen dodge 93-99. The injection pump on those years is a p-pump. The one you have is a VE pump, which is fine. Just not capable of as much horsepower. That is an awesome truck though. I always liked the look of the first gens
My first vehicle was a 73 power wagon, burnt orange, with a gun rack in the back window, big tow mirrors, with tall CB antennas on them, rolling on 33s, 318 bored .060 over and lots of speed parts, it was a beast
As a 91 first gen cummins owner I can say that it is a love hate relationship. The engines are reliable as hell. But just about everything else on them isn’t so much “if you like twisting wrench’s, buy a first gen” is the most true statement ever. Have fun with it and make sure you show her off as much as you can 😂 I love it.
I have never been more proud of you than this moment right here 😭. Next you need to get a 2nd gen p-pump engine thats actually the best 12 valve and you can make TONS of power with them

I made it to Rochester mn from randolph Minnesota on a half tank after it sat practically empty for several months (may of 2022 to dec 2022 to be exact) then when I got it home it got snowed in and ended up getting left to sit until about ten days ago. she started right up like it hadn't sat outside in -12 degree weather for several weeks

Seeing the cinematography of the ol first gen made me tear up a little! I’ve got a 93 350 that was born a 2wd, automatic. Later in life it was converted to 4x4 and it got a 5 speed! Now she’s pushing 500hp. 500-ish hp in a 30 year old, extended cab, dually is wild!
Look up Wrangler star, he was fighting the wildfires out west with friends and family, stationary pumps to wet down homesteads, mobile pumps on trucks, trailers, even trailed behind his UTV, he knows fire planning and coordination.

Lol we sold one of them dodges we had on the farm last year. Different box and a bunch of electrical issues because it got beat up dragging farm equipment around. Not driven in over a decade and damn thing would fire up like nothing. Dude walked up, looked at it for a couple minutes, handed us $5k and drove the thing home. People LOVE those rams.

That's definitely not death wobble. Death wobble is also more common on linked front suspensions. Not that's it's not possible on leaf sprung front suspensions, it's just not as common. Unbalanced 37s would definitely cause a bad vibration like that.
Definitely not that. He wouldn't be going freeway speeds while enduring deathwobble lol. That's an emergency "Holy shit get off the gas, do I risk pressing the brakes as I get over into the emergency lane" kind of thing. (although some vehicles can recover from deathwobble at more like 20-40 mph instead of having to slow down to 10 mph) It was kind of funny hearing him say "hopefully it's just the tires", for me that would be the worst case scenario, genuine Dana Spicer U-joints are dirt cheap compared to $1600 of tires.

Matt, please please please read and reply to this. Im a volunteer firefighter in Wisconsin. If you want to turn out a truck intona fire truck, you should look at an "ultra high pressure" pump. Can knock down a fully engulfed room with 40 gallons of water. With a standard engine, a 2.5 inch hose, it will take roughly 1k gallons of water to knock down the same engulfed room. If you go a regular system, make sure you upgrade ypur suspension to hold the water. At 8lbs per gallon, you wont get much water in the back fire fighting wise.
My Ram 1500 5.7 hemi with 8 speed transmission and the laramie package. I call him Big Chief. Nicest truck i have ever owned, and with that 8-soeed transmission, has all kinds of torque for a gas engine.
As far as the shaking goes when my dads car went highway speeds it would shake like that and he got new tie rods and control arms and it fixed the problem perfectly

thats the dodge death wobble you were experiencing at 6:22. Its due to worn out front end bushings. And a worn out or loose steering rack. They sell kits that fix this problem. Look for track bar, or steering brace kit.
dude my dad has the same truck with the same problem I will give you a tip a vibration Loose or broken steering components can cause vibrations when driving at high speeds. Worn tie rod bushings or a bad wheel bearing can cause vibrations, as can warped brake rotors, which can especially be felt in the steering wheel when braking
Need to paint it rattle can Fire Engine Red or Safety Hi Vis Fluorescent Green ! And get a compact amber emergency light bar for center of the the roof !
Perfect thing to do would be to try and find a skid unit from an FD that is updating their stuff, we just got one to build a second brush truck and it was cheap
Get a skid mounted tank, pump and hose reel. Ur also gonna need a few nozzles, Wye's and 100 ft of 1'" hose, maybe 100 ft of 1 1/2" hose. and some Wye's and nozzles to go with them . Dont forget your hand tools too. Google Type6 wildland engine.... You can also contact Texas A&M Forestry for some tips and advice. If you are gonna do it do it right! I would set it up to meet the min req for a type6 wildland engine.

The California Forestry Dept. used these trucks as fire trucks, you should try and find one of the old beds with the tank and pump/hose rig

The shaking at highway speeds is most likely ball joints, tie rods, and traction bar unbalanced tires doesn’t help either

That's definitely not death wobble. Death wobble is also more common on linked front suspensions. Not that's it's not possible on leaf sprung front suspensions, it's just not as common. Unbalanced 37s would definitely cause a bad vibration like that.

That's an emergency "Holy shit get off the gas, do I risk pressing the brakes as I get over into the emergency lane" kind of thing.
(although some vehicles can recover from deathwobble at more like 20-40 mph instead of having to slow down to 10 mph)
It was kind of funny hearing him say "hopefully it's just the tires", for me that would be the worst case scenario, genuine Dana Spicer U-joints are dirt cheap compared to $1600 of tires.

Matt, please please please read and reply to this. Im a volunteer firefighter in Wisconsin. If you want to turn out a truck intona fire truck, you should look at an "ultra high pressure" pump. Can knock down a fully engulfed room with 40 gallons of water. With a standard engine, a 2.5 inch hose, it will take roughly 1k gallons of water to knock down the same engulfed room.
If you go a regular system, make sure you upgrade ypur suspension to hold the water. At 8lbs per gallon, you wont get much water in the back fire fighting wise.
For the water tank and motor you can put it on a skid that way when you don't need it you can take it out with a forklift.

My Ram 1500 5.7 hemi with 8 speed transmission and the laramie package. I call him Big Chief. Nicest truck i have ever owned, and with that 8-soeed transmission, has all kinds of torque for a gas engine.

As far as the shaking goes when my dads car went highway speeds it would shake like that and he got new tie rods and control arms and it fixed the problem perfectly

thats the dodge death wobble you were experiencing at 6:22. Its due to worn out front end bushings. And a worn out or loose steering rack. They sell kits that fix this problem. Look for track bar, or steering brace kit.

dude my dad has the same truck with the same problem I will give you a tip a vibration Loose or broken steering components can cause vibrations when driving at high speeds. Worn tie rod bushings or a bad wheel bearing can cause vibrations, as can warped brake rotors, which can especially be felt in the steering wheel when braking
Need to paint it rattle can Fire Engine Red or Safety Hi Vis Fluorescent Green ! And get a compact amber emergency light bar for center of the the roof !

Perfect thing to do would be to try and find a skid unit from an FD that is updating their stuff, we just got one to build a second brush truck and it was cheap
Get a skid mounted tank, pump and hose reel. Ur also gonna need a few nozzles, Wye's and 100 ft of 1'" hose, maybe 100 ft of 1 1/2" hose. and some Wye's and nozzles to go with them . Dont forget your hand tools too. Google Type6 wildland engine.... You can also contact Texas A&M Forestry for some tips and advice. If you are gonna do it do it right! I would set it up to meet the min req for a type6 wildland engine.
