El Cromino would need a bigger radiator and dual electric fans, maybe an electric water pump too. You have to focus on cooling so the motor can withstand a big burnout.
And a dry sump oil system to keep that las from starving of oil while whipping it around
This
Trans cooler and oil cooler help also
Mechanic pumps, meth, HUGE radiator in the back with fans
And only run Amsoil in everything, Enjoy, Transmission, Rear Diff, if you want something that can handle the heat and stress, buy the best.
probably recommend repairing the floor just incase of flames and stuff
Meh, he's got a fire suit
"...and stuff" !!! Someone else shares my potential-for-disaster brain!!
🦞❤️✨
yeah I would just use some old aluminum plate (old signs work great.) rivet and seam seal. finding a good spot to weld to will be hard.
Just cut out the rust and slap some sheet metal on. Doesn't need to be perfect just functional and safe.
🍓🍓
Yep. Pop-rivets and sheet metal!
Been watching you since the beginning of you filling shotgun shells, going in for an interview at a local vet clinic for a veterinarian assistant job. Wish me luck
Matt two months ago...”I am not going to do a lot to the el Camino” Matt today...”we’ll be doing a complete motor swap and a possible new paint job in the future” 😂😂 and that is why I love this channel!!
It just is the perfect badass shitbox everyone knew he was gonna fall in love and end up upgrading it.
Yes sir
To be fair, that's really not that much work

How do you do so much? It’s like there’s 5 of you? Gun guy, car guy, vet guy, family guy, renovation guy, favorite CZcams guy?? What a guy Matt👏👏
Get one off the welding guys to come over and just saw and weld some new floors in it just for the sake off safety
I was going to comment the same thing
Safety pft who needs that
I was thinking that, doesnt have to be pretty, just helps keep the fire outside lol
Flintstone yaba dapa do 🤪
Going to say the same thing
I knew Tyler and his crew, though not very well. They were good people. I flew that very airplane, 63-8877 just days before the crash. It's very cool that you're keeping his memory alive with the Bronco. It hits closer to home than you can imagine. I look forward to one day sitting at the great Debrief Table in the Sky with them.
Are u going to put Tyler's name over the door in his honor
The tailgate would be cool to
Or a plate on the dash
And name it mark since he is using marks tools
I think it would look better over the bed on the rear window
Why do that
Matt, a though about the rear brakes, either disconnect or find a way to temporarily disable them(e.g. valve) but leave them on the car for parking brakes and maybe a hand brake.
“I am not rebuilding the El comino”. Puts new engine in it
He's not. He's gonna destroy it in a burnout.
He said he’s not restoring it
The 2 comments above this one are totally related to the original comment
@@iwantsexseemyvideo2929to
I put a new engine in my 94 eagle summit wagon hunting rig. That doesn't mean I'm gonna restore it.
Like others have said, weld some floor pans in. You don’t want to fall through to the pavement doing a burnout in front of everyone. You don’t have to restore it, just make it safe. Keep the smoke and fire out too. Cleetus might be more strict on safety next competition as well. Now is the perfect time to do it

Matt: We are gonna LS swap the El Chromino

@@Quade- Basically new body... Enjoy when complete.
Could you have found one in slightly better condition to restore?
Hey Matt, You should do something similar to what Adam LZ did on his Chaser. He put a water mister/sprayer on the radiator and a reservoir in the trunk. This drastically reduced his Engine Temps. Focus on cooling as a burnout car.
The "Chromino" is going to snap in two, with the extra power, unless you do something about the chassis, if you can call it that...
Former chassis!
It’s just the floor of the chassis was toast it wouldn’t have gone up in the air
All it needs is some license plates and sheet metal screws, she'll be factree then.

It still has a frame to hold it together, it isn’t a unibody!
Split your breaks. Fronts on the normal pedal and the rears on another one.
Somebody needs to make a demo ranch heavy duty camera just so you quit killing them.
😐💢😐
I’ll be honest, knowing the interaction with Cleeter lately I was expecting Matt to say it was getting a Texas Speed 427.
8:38 You teasing me you naughty naughty
I love that Matt and his dad are so alike. Bringing home stuff to make the wives annoyed
I will be real happy to see the Bronco actually driving to the paint shop and NO rattle can paint job! ⭐😎👍
You can leave the rear brakes just get a line lock for the fronts.
Line lock will Fail. Line lock isn’t meant to be held more then 60sec.
უი
I have a 73 elco that I daily and while it does go drag racing it is best at burnouts.
I placed a ball valve inline to the rear brakes so I can just shut them off and the brake pedal will only control the front.
💯❤️💋
Matt you should weld the rear differential so you can make sure both tires are spinning when you’re doing some gnarly burnouts! Cheaper than a locker and it’s easy to do!
Call Holley for your engine swap needs. They can send you everything to set that LS in there.
You might also need the rear differential, from the corvette, if not you'll need 4:11 or a 3:90 possi-tract rear end.😁
But you could have used older 350 heads with larger valves, and after market cam, pop up pistons ,and edlebrok electronic fuel injection , dyno-tuned 500hp from a 350chevy V8😎
Mat: what this gonna cost ya?
Mr C: a college education!
Me: from the hip Mr C!!!
🤬💢💥
You've got to take control of the hose, Matt.
Also think about fire control. It's called a BURN-out and you can't always have someone else putting out the flames.
Love the content Matt! Can't wait to see the El Chromino slay some tires.
Just had an idea: hydro front brake install for burnouts? Burnout lever 🤔 and wifey approved 🤣
I just have to say some thing... I don’t even know how I found your videos, But this has become one of my favorite channels. I find myself watching videos and I don’t even know what the hell I’m watching for and I think it’s just your positive attitude and just your personality that just puts a smile on my face! Keep doing what you’re doing and don’t ever change your family is amazing!
Sand, bondo, primer, then crome wrap it.
Just saying when starting a motor for the first time make sure you are ready to run it for ~15 minutes so that the cam has a chance to break in, also gives you a good chance to set base timing, check oil and fuel pressure, make sure that you don’t have leaks, and so on.
Also from the moment that you displayed the glory of the elco I have known big things were in store. I’m waiting for mini tubs, big tires and some cage work.

You can get a line lock system that shuts off the rear brakes but just eliminateing them will work too. 80% of the braking is doen by the front so you'll be fine as long as the pads in the front are not death in a box.
Lol When He said The El chromino Was Just gonna Be A Ranch Car Now He's About to Pimp It Completely Out to Be The Drift Chromino Can't Wait Too See It Complete
People say restore it cause up north that thing is mint. You wont believe how rusted stuff is up here. We lifted the cab off a 90s chevy without unbolting anything. All body mounts were gone, and both rear spring mounts were rusted out and the axle wanted to come out of under the truck
Look. I get it. Dont restore it, but at least fix the floor pans. Thats just too damn ghetto.
It doesn't need to be a perfect looking job. Just patch it up with a sheet of metal. Nice and quick.

ZL1 or LSA supercharger, rowdy Texas Speed cam, brake proportioning valve so you can still have rear brakes when you want them, some skinny steelies for the rear, new set of upswept headers and you're good to go!

Powerglide transmission, get ahold of moser engineering for the rear axle.
If he plans on using it on the hills by him as well that may be too high geared.

I guess it all depends on what rear gear he chooses. But between the ls2 power and say a 3.73 gear I'll bet traction will be the bigger problem.

With the floorboards you could buy a sheet of 1-2mm steel big enough to cover the wholes, you don't need new floorboards for it as its a burnout car but enough to cover the whole to make it safe and to stop your foot going through

You can put line lock in it for the brakes so you can controls which brakes get fluid whenever you want.
Can you change the Humvee that’s in the intro to the five ton?
Someone made him the intro, not him
Look into line locks for the front brakes. They will lock the front brakes up and leave the back one free for a burnout.
You’re going to have to change that steering wheel to do a burn out comp haha
Power glide and a Ford 9” huge radiator and massive trans cooler with its fan in the bed so it has lots of air flow
You can’t go one episode without starting another project

Yes!!!!
That is his old el Camino it just say at his dads he has a video about it
I think he’s referring too the shell of a car he bought a couple videos back. But I don’t think it’s his Monte.
For the rear brakes, have them on a handbrake and the front controlled by the pedal. And go with a t56 for the transmission. For rear ends, Ford 9 inch all day
I love how he wasn’t going to do any mayor things to the car and now we’re getting a engine swap 😂👍
Put some big and crazy blower on the ls2 with all the supporting mods, a 2 speed powerglide for the trans, and a modified ford 9 inch rear end.

🤣🤣🤣🤣
A line locker is what you need it Makes it so only the front brakes are applied and you don’t have to remove your real breaks
Maybe he bought a doner car for the rear end of the el comino. He did say the existing wasn't going to work for what he had planned 🤔
A month ago he posted on insta he was lookin 4 a barracuda
Don't remove the rear brakes. Plumb them to a handbrake instead. That way you can hold the front brakes with your foot for the burnout and you can do some slides with the handbrake. Boom best of both worlds.
Be nice when you can say ”The Voss is back.”
here's a tip you can try next time you take a hood off spray paint on and around the hinges attached to the hood it will save you time on adjusting the hood when you reinstall it

few tips to help you with this burn out machine go powerglide transmission no need for more than 2 gears. Keep the rear brakes upgrade the fronts and install a line lock to hold the fronts while you let her rip. As far as the rear end the should be a 8.5 inch 10 bolt. So for 400-500hp upgrade the rear differential to a 35 spline auburn unit with stronger axle shafts and a good aftermarket ring gear around a 3.73 ratio. if you really want to swap the rear axle you can get a bolt in 12 bolt or ford 9 inch.
Matt, we want to meet your mom. Have met your dad, can't remember ever meeting your mom.
This thing is clean looking to me, I'm from the rust belt and your "bad rust" is my "mild surface rust"
Leave the hood stacks on it or get more
I would replace the floor pans just as a fire precaution. If your tires catch fire there are the fuel lines underneath you and that could end bad.
No no no no no tell your dad to just rebuild that straight six

Matt- put in a Chevy 342 rear end ...once those wheels start spinning ...you will get maximum wheel spin...sustained 90+ mph.
Leave the parking break attached to the rear wheels so that you can stop them quickly if needed!
Put a layer or two of clearcoat on top of the chrome to preserve it.
Your thought process drives me crazy!
The rear end will be fine with a couple mods. Just do something, anything to eliminate wheel hop, and put a "mini spool" in it. Then you shouldn't break stuff, and always spin both tires.
If the rear differential has 10 bolts on the cover, you should replace it with a 12-bolt unit. (12 bolts on the rear cover.) Those units were plentiful in the day as they fit all GM A-body vehicles - Chevy Malibu, Pontiac Tempest, Oldsmobile Cutlass and Buick Grand Sport . You also should replace the differential case with a positraction unit and upgrade the gear set to something between 4.10 and 4.88 ratio. Good luck.
Your dad is the best, what a cool guy!
The floor pans on these aren’t bad to buy and fix, took me about 2 days to replace, paint and everything. Good luck trying to find someone to seal the windows and everything. I’ve been looking everywhere in north Texas and no one will
