El Cromino would need a bigger radiator and dual electric fans, maybe an electric water pump too. You have to focus on cooling so the motor can withstand a big burnout.

Don't remove the rear brakes. Plumb them to a handbrake instead. That way you can hold the front brakes with your foot for the burnout and you can do some slides with the handbrake. Boom best of both worlds.

MATT upgrade both front and rear breaks to rotors and get a staging control break kit which if you don't know it will at the push of a button turn off the rear breaks so you can do burnouts without wearing out the rear breaks.

few tips to help you with this burn out machine go powerglide transmission no need for more than 2 gears. Keep the rear brakes upgrade the fronts and install a line lock to hold the fronts while you let her rip. As far as the rear end the should be a 8.5 inch 10 bolt. So for 400-500hp upgrade the rear differential to a 35 spline auburn unit with stronger axle shafts and a good aftermarket ring gear around a 3.73 ratio. if you really want to swap the rear axle you can get a bolt in 12 bolt or ford 9 inch.

The rear end will be fine with a couple mods. Just do something, anything to eliminate wheel hop, and put a "mini spool" in it. Then you shouldn't break stuff, and always spin both tires.

  • @osscouter

If the rear differential has 10 bolts on the cover, you should replace it with a 12-bolt unit. (12 bolts on the rear cover.) Those units were plentiful in the day as they fit all GM A-body vehicles - Chevy Malibu, Pontiac Tempest, Oldsmobile Cutlass and Buick Grand Sport . You also should replace the differential case with a positraction unit and upgrade the gear set to something between 4.10 and 4.88 ratio. Good luck.
