"The best British footballer of all time" but we can't include any from more than about 15 years ago because the game was easier then! Rubbish. Players like say, Kenny Dalglish would turn todays defenders inside out, just like they did back then
Honestly. They seem like nice blokes, but some of the takes are absolutely wild. The Premier League couldn't pay a PR firm to come up with the level of propaganda you see on here sometimes.
The other side of that argument is that Gareth Bale would have been kicked to bits in the 70s and 80s ? He would not have been given the space, time or protection he had. His career would have ended earlier as well ? I’ve got nothing against Bale but “best ever “ nah ! Not for me .
What a load of rubbish. Rooney and Bale combined wouldn't have laced Best's boots! All this nonsense the game is better no its not. Players today might be fitter that's all, but the players of the past were far more talented. Best, Law, Charlton, Greaves, Moore, etc.
@@jamesgordon2805 on what basis were they more talented? Talent is not a degenerative condition across generations. Talented players in the 60s are just as talented as the ones today.
Why’s that divvy on here again? On his research list!? Is he literally just here to learn? Is this an apprenticeship course from Ben for him? 4:36
You can only play what's in front of you at the time. Completely unfair to discount the likes of Law, Charlton, Best etc
excluding those that they havent seen play is fair, but the way ben explained it is stupid.
You would have to say george best would also have todays training and nutrition
@@jacklynch7802 spot on man, hear the arguement far too much that "aw but that was back then when the game was less technical and worse" as if a Kenny Dalgleish or Bobby Moore born in 1999 wouldn't be doing the same stuff today's players are 😂
Even if they're too young to consider Dalglish, Best, Charlton etc, have they forgotten about Gerrard and Scholes?! They're surely worth a mention.
Bobby Charlton, Gazza, Kenny Dalglish all worth a mention, for me you’ve gotta to put everything into context. Winning, ability, big moments and all in all longevity too! For me it’s gotta be either Bale or Bobby Charlton
Football knowledge on the episode is horrendous
The counter about not including old players because the game has changed etc. could be; the players back then would be in a better condition with modern coaching and sport science etc. So the answer is you will never know.
Also answer is Bale.
You can also counter it by modern players having better pitches and stricter refereeing.
Footballers today are athletic robots with few pure footballers.
George Best would be immense in the modern game.
Edit...
Maradona would rip it apart if protected like they are in the modern age. Imagine how players would be sent off.
Just realised it's only British... Alan Ball and Greavsie were quality.
@@LHBH8pass pass pass tiki taka, no individual brilliance anymore
The Sean Wotherspoons are one of my grails. Worn them twice. Looking forward to summer. I thought Benty was the sneakerhead.
Ooh one more. Jimmy Anderson with 700 test wickets over 21 years would make him 3rd for me
George Best isn’t even British, he’s Irish but in the UK
eh
He was Northern Irish. Britain is the island of England, Scotland, and Wales. Bit awkward when they do a "Best British Player" thing and spend 5 minutes talking about a lad who wasn't British.
@@joejoe-nj7mu need to go back to school mate
Northern Ireland is British !
Surpirsed United fans aren't saying Kobbie Mianoo...
If Bale was English, he’d be Ben’s standout candidate. Simple as that
Logically, since the premier league started, Michael Owen is the only guy to win a Ballon d'Or . So he the best 😅... But in my eyes its Wayne Rooney, then Bale
Yes them players have pace and power but if your talking about shear ability on the ball then Chris waddle has to be in the conversation, touch, skill, vision, magical passes a real game changer
Where's the full pod?
Bent is spot on. People argue over things they’ve never seen, just off what they heard. Simple
The fact they dodnt even mention Dalglish is a fucking joke. As a player and a manager look what he won.
Ben man ! Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton, Geoff Hurst, for just three !
Oul Benty must have never have heard of Gazza
I think you give the old school players the nutrition and science we have now and I think most of them will right at the top
Was just about to type this thank you for doing it for me.
John Charles ?
Wazza is the best ever British player, no question. Peter Crouch at a close second.
Seriously.
1. Wazza
2. Bale
3. Becks
Becks was the fourth best midfielder in every midfield he was in, how's he third here?
Best is one of if not the greatest British football as he played with harder balls boots were big and clunky then the pitches were muddy and bumpy while now in football the top player have it easy the ball is lighter so is the boots to allow for better control then the pitches now are like bilared tables
Well said he's also reckoned by many to be the greatest player ever. Gareth Bale better than Best? I don't think so, he's not in the same league and it's not even close.
Ben it’s gotta be you
jimmy greaves gotta be up there
Bobby Charlton
Oh wow never realised Andy Goldstein was just a head😂
A job on Futurama awaiting when talksport is finished 😂😂😂
Not even a shout of Gaza 😵
Why would he get a shout? He was the second best midfielder at Rangers for Christ's sake, how's he the best Brit ever?
Can’t get my head around not even mentioning jimmy anderson. Top 5 without a doubt
Recentcy bias is off the charts and no goal keepers been talked about yet when weve had some of the best in the world Banks, Shilton and Clemance are the first three to pop into my head and I would rather have Wayne Rooney in my team than Gareth Bale because if we are taking modern day fitness into account then surely injuries should count too. Only have to look at Rooneys goals involvement to understand why i would pick him over Bale and even when he wasnt scoring or assisting he was still always a nightmare for the opposition considering the injuries and his total contribution to a game id say Giggs over Bale too
Best of "All Time" but then they discount those from more than 15 years ago. The fact that Charlton, Moore, Banks, Giggs, Dalglish, Gazza, Scholes didn't even get discussed is a joke. That players of a previous age were able to do what they did without all the technology, training regimes, private chefs, physio's, and multitude of team making them as good as they are, says something about the quality of those players.
Also, putting Ronnie over Murray was another joke. Murray played some of the most gruelling tennis matches and competed with 3 of the best of all time in his era.
Bobby charlton
Bit of a mad theory that one I have to say. Would the counter argument not be what would they be like with the sport science of today and the training etc
Pele good, Maradona better, George Best.
Maradona was incredible. He'd eclipse Ronny and Messi if about in their era. Also Bryan Robson was a beast.
Godstein going on about Lewis H relying on his car, he still has to beat team mate and sport was so competitive during most of his wins.
Mt top 10 though. Not just on ability but what they won and used there publicity well.
1. Ronnie O'sullivan
2. Bobby Moore
3. Phil Taylor
4, Steve Regrave
5. Andy Murray
6. Joe Calzaghe
7. Lewis Hamilton
8. David Beckham
9. Andrew Flintoff
10. Seb Coe
Bobby Moore? Because of one tournament? He wasn't even England's best player, Bobby Charlton was. Who also won a European Cup and multiple titles.
It's Bobby Charlton!
Charlton, Rooney, Law, Moore.
Ryan Giggs
Ashley Cole is the best ever English player he the only guy who could potentially, get into a world Xi cause there only 3 better players in that postion
1-Maldini
2- Marcelo
3-Carlos
4- Ashley Cole
Better then talksport 😅
It’s Bobby Charlton.
John charles or bobby charlton
Michael Owen won the Ballon d’Or? No shout??
the disrespect for rooney is unreal! Can't believe they just throw even bale above him! wazza for me is head and shoulders above the rest
Why is Bale above Giggs
Scholes? Giggs?
Gerrard or Rooney for me
No footballer in this day and age can score a screamer with a water soaked leather caser
Surely giggs is the best British of all time
Giggs!
Just listened on Spotify but wanted to comment. This was the best episode of all time for me!! Absolutely brilliant. Thank you.
FWIW - I’d have gone - Ronnie, Lewis, Calzaghe but love the opinions you all gave
Foster is so thick
Rooney is so easy tap in for this
Stan collymore and Brian clough Jimmy greaves
Come on mate
Rooney or Bale
It’s Rooney, hands down
Better than Bobby Charlton? HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
@@TheRedPeril never watched him play, so I don’t really care for that comparison
Better than George Best I don't think so. I take it you never saw Best.
Sir Bobby Charlton by a stretch. This debate was awful
John Charles the best British footballer ever .
Listen, you cannot compare generations. Fact is, you just say "he's the best of his generation", or "they are the best of their generation". Simple.
And fuck everyone who ignores David Platt. People don't know football I swear.
Is it just me....
Beckham wasnt the best english player on utd at any stage
Gareth bale
Bale ain't the best Welsh player of all time, let alone British.
@@kb5509he’s both
Maradona wouldn’t start for any modern team…
He would have to pass a drugs test first.
It’s bale
Playing on carpets where you can't tackle each other and players of yesterday would destroy today's players. Today's players wouldn't survive yesterday. Best was northern Ireland so part of the UK not British..
Ben, unfortunately, disproves his own argument. Disappointing and shortsighted.
International football has got worse as time goes by! Better international sides 10 years ago that’s for sure
all the talk of bale and didnt mention giggs, probs not mentioned because of his personal life
And he wasnt anywhere near Bale
And if you put George best in today’s football with the science etc then he’d be better than the players around him. You can’t say players from back in the day wouldn’t evolve with the times. Absolute gobshites
Gazza?
I cannot believe my ears. This is a stinker from you guys. Remember the name Wayne Rooney. I’m flabbergasted. If Rooney went to areal Madrid he could have won 5 too. Utter madness lads
The time that Rooney could've gone to Madrid, they were getting bounced out the first knockout round every year. He'd have won not much.
@@kb5509 thats not my point. My point is if he went there when Bale did he could and would have won what he did. Your moving the eras and comparisons to suit your argument. Bale wouldnt have won with that Madrid team then!?
You know who did win the champions league during that time....Rooney..with united!
@@prazackdylinzki2055 if Rooney had gone to Madrid in 2013 (past his best), he'd have been a squad player. Nacho isn't an all time great for sitting on the bench during Champions Leagues either.
Beckham is the mostttt overrated player in football history 6:03
Worst guest ever. Benty's ite tho
Andy is literally the only one here with any sense whatsoever….. this list is criminal
This podcast had the worst takes of a group of people I have ever seen
Rooney, gazza, Scholes
What have I just listened to. How can you say bale over Beckham and also say give Ali all this modern equipment and then not use that logic for George best. Bent just wants someone he knows in there absolute zero ball knowledge
Bale the best British player ever 😂😂 such a bad take 🤣🤣
It’s Rooney or Bale
Bale didn’t win 5 ucl.. he was just in a team that did.
The answer is gerrard.
Who was better than all you spoke of hands down
Lol
