Stevie G is an allrounder and KDB is the closest to that. Both Scholes and Lampard are better than Gerrard at particular things but as an allrounder they are not better players

No idea how Kante isn’t even in the discussion…literally was a 3 man midfield all by himself. Carried Chelsea and Leicester pretty much on his back every time. The UCL winning season, he carried that Chelsea team to victory by himself. He got 4 MOTM awards, 2 in the semis and 1 in the finals. The semis were both against Real Madrid where Kroos was so scared he was playing CB. And the final was against City and prime KDB. Kante has to be in the discussion arguably the greatest PL midfielder of all time.

Bale above Giggs is madness! He spent half his premier League time as a left back and only performed at top level for about 4yrs. Giggs played that role at tippy top for 20yrs 😂😂

Ofc he’s saying paul cuz he played with him.. lampard had a stacked team his entire career. KDB needs time as they said. So the only complete one left is gerrard that had nearly no one his entire career and carried a dead liverpool side
My only quibble of this list is why the heck is Bale on this list!? He started as a left back and finished as a forward; he rarely played in midfield.
Switch Bale for Beckham and you may have been close to perfect.
I agree - KdB needs several more years playing at his level before he could/should crack the top-three. Right now, any order of Scholes, Gerrard, Lampard (my order) are the top-three EPL-era midfielders.

Its KDB. Forget midfield only. KDB has aa genuine chance of being top 3 Greatest PL player ever. For me it's Henry, CR7 and KDB. Im a Man United fan btw.

no way Kdb is above Scholes ,Lampard or Gerrard.
the issue is trying to choose between players that have been there and done it for a decade or more at very top level against a player that is still playing. give it 5 years or so and then it becomes easier to evaluate Kdb.
just to add my decision, my top 5 is:
Scholes, Lampard, Gerrard, Keane, Viera,

Amazing how highly rated Paul Scholes was. I'd be one to encourage people to always draw their own conclusion, but c'mon, theres a reason why nobody remembers that Paul Scholes was missing for the 99 Champions League final and that Roy Keane being out was catastrophic in United fans and football fans minds in general at the time. Scholes never won an individual award for a reason, technically brilliant yes but never even one of United's best players never mind one of the best players in the league at any stage of his career. And I do rate the guy and seen him all through his pomp but this perception he was world class is madness, seemed to only become world class upon retirement
Only in England do people have this view of scholes. English football in the 90s wasn’t ready to appreciate or understand the kind of player he was - have been a United fan all my life and he’s only behind Ronaldo as far as influence on the pitch is concerned (maybe keane as well but that was more character based). When he played the game changed - people might not remember he missed the 99 final (partly because keane v Juventus was incredible) but the reason we were so terrible on the day was not only because of keane missing but scholes also
Scholes never won individual awards because it was a players or fans vote. The amount of world class players had over the years explains your point. Hence why gerrard has so many. Simple

I encourage you to find a video or any real solid evidence of any quotes about Paul Scholes from those lads, you will find the made up articles that suit a narrative about Paul Scholes all over the internet, but you will not find one video of any of them lads saying something about Scholes, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know why those videos can't be found👍
No idea how Kante didn’t even make 10th. Never seen a player change the momentum of a game like him. He was the best midfielder in the world for a year or two whilst playing in the prem. More to the game than purely putting the ball in the net.
Gerrard should be nr 1. He had everything in his game. Comparing stats with Lampard is wrong since they played very different roles.
Scholes first + Keane 5th 😂😂😂 when they played together there was never a time scholes was more valuable to the team than Keane
Lampard has the stats, but Gerrard was a better overall footballer.

All 3 Englishmen were among the best in the world, no doubt about it. But my thinking is always if you placed Gerrard in those Man Utd/Chelsea squads in place of Scholes and Lampard they'd have won at LEAST the same amount of trophies but realistically a lot more. You place Scholes or Lampard in those Liverpool teams and they win sweet F-All, they're not even getting close to any finals never mind pulling off the wins Gerrard single-handedly gave them.

Firstly, I am a diehard Liverpool fan. However, KDB, Schoolsy, and Vierra are different beasts. They're better ahead of Lampard and Gerrad.

Is 8 years of top tier performances not enought? To be in the top 10 u need to have at least 6 years of play time and then actual talent and stats take over, KDB is just better than all the 3 english midfielders, and if he played for United or Liverpool this debate wouldn't exist.
Theres always been a lot of midfielders who are great passers / tacklers. Lampard is the only CM in history to get you close to 20 goals a season, even exceptional strikers these days barely hit 20 goals a season. Lampard is unique compared to every other player on this list, so he is number 1.
I think there's also a few others beside the main three of lampard, gerrard and scholes.
There's Vierra, Roy Keane, Carrick, Yaya etc.

You’re entitled to your opinion of course but I think it’s silly to put KDB active players in the list right now. Wait until he retires then it’s fair to rate him wherever you want. I’m a United fan and I used to think Paul scholes but I have now changed it to Lampard 1. I think people really forgotten how great lampard really was because he didn’t really win that much.

Also, just as an aside, how does Gerrard make 4th in the list yet Kante doesn't appear at all? I've heard so many people say that "Gerrard was held back" "he would've won titles with the top teams" etc when it's questioned why he never won a league title if he's as good as everyone says he is.
Kante won a league title in a Leicester team that was nowhere near as good as any of Gerrard's Liverpool teams and he carried Chelsea to a title too. A far better player.

Personally I wouldn't even have Gerard in the top 5, if your talking about Premier league especially as he never won one, think he's a top midfielder but wouldn't put him over some of the others on this list that have actually won the Premier league
Why are you basing this off team accomplishments knowing fully well that the Liverpool teams in that era didnt have the luxury of personnel (both players and managers) that their title rivals Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal had?
His only clear title chance was during the backend of his career. He spent his peak years carrying mediocre Liverpool teams.
Rather, rate him on his individual accomplishments, especially the ones that were voted solely by his peers like the PFA Team of the Year for example which he holds the record to this day.

There are three problems with this list. Firstly, it predicates that football began in 1992. Secondly, people use longevity as a metric which is absolutely not how these lists should be. Thirdly, every midfielder is different. It's a ridiculously versatile position. How can you compare an attacking or creative midfielder with a box-to-box midfielder or a defensive midfielder?

How is Bale even considered in this list? I could probably name a better candidate from every single club currently in the prem.
In every aspect people think Gerrard is the best, stats clearly show that Lampard is better - goals, assists, key passes etc. How it can even be a debate? Only argument people use is that Gerrard played in an average team which is obviously not true, Liverpool was top top team even those days and not just because of Stevie.

None of those names could carry a team like Gerrard. Lampard didn’t carry Chelsea. He scored so many because he had the best CDMs. Scholes was technically the best but also couldn’t carry United alone. KDB doesn’t have to carry City but probably could. He couldn’t tackle, or head and was slow. He just was an absolute wizard at pinging the ball. Best passer of a ball the Prem has seen maybe but definitely not the best midfielder. Most United fans wouldn’t put him above Giggs or even some of them Keane!
