Not even book related, but I had to pause the video to comment. What you said about the word flattering and rocking your own body shape really hit me in the feels. I was just thinking about this concept earlier today, so this was quite affirming. Ugh, thank you for being you.

The segment when you were talking about the word "flattering" made me actually cry. I never realized how harmful the word can be, especially when using it on myself. Fuck trying to appeal to others by conforming to beauty standards and "acceptable" body types.

Omg! I actually kinda hope Liam reads more of Frankenstein (though reading the chapter headings was *chef's kiss*, good comedy instincts on that kid), I read it when I was his age (he's like 10, right?) and I just felt like it really hit great for me at that age.

I did rate One by One much lower, but not because it didn't have a twist. Yes, I was hoping for a better twist, but I rather thought there where lots of little plot holes. Also the mistakes with the Snooper's numbers. They kept changing for Erin and that it didn't make sense and a lot of other things. But I am glad you liked it! Thanks to the book club Is read so many books I would normally not read. Catherine House is still my favorite 😂
Ahhh a character map is brilliant. I find it much harder to keep track of characters and who is who when I listen to books rather than reading the physical book. I’m going to start doing this!

I read Lakewood earlier this year and am so happy I finally got to hear your thoughts! I loved it, one of the best books of the year for me!
I've literally felt the same about One By One. For me, reading her books feels like watching classic horror/thriller movies. They are not the most surprising, most "original" stories, but I'm entertained from the first page to the last, and that's what I want from a thriller.

I was so relieved to hear your rating of One by One! I rated it four stars as well and was disappointed it was getting so much hate. Sometimes I feel like people just hate books because others do, unfortunately. Great video!
What are you basing that claim on, though? Don't get offended that others don't share your taste in books, I don't get why you would take it personal just because you like it. It is just a book.
@@missburn I'm not offended, everyone has different tastes. I only mean that sometimes our opinion can be somewhat predetermined based on what we've already heard about a book. Of course it's okay to disagree with one another.
I loved it too and gave it 4 stars. I see what you're saying though, because I've seen a lot of comments on bad reviews saying they won't read the book now because of what the reviewer is saying.

I agree with you about One by One, so far anyway, as I'm only half way through. I love the isolated snowy setting, the themes, and that there's a distinct group of characters. I think I missed that from The Turn of the Key. There weren't many characters. Hopefully the second half goes as well as the first half.

I started reading the invisible life of miss addie larue after your recommendations. I am just really enjoying it 😌 as a v.e schawb fan haven't found it as slow the first half. Its just flying for me. I love the idea.

I finished One by One today, and I gave it like 3.5. For me 3 and up is good. A three is good. I think that if I hadn't just read And Then There Were None two weeks ago, I may have rated it higher. Foreshadowing and knowing what is coming doesn't bother me because there are few books that I do not know where they are headed. I think it is a book worth reading.

I did enjoy One By One for the most part, but I felt that the killer was revealed too soon. I ended up giving it 3 stars, which is an improvement over the only other Ware book I've read (The Woman in Cabin 10). With that being said, I'm still open to reading The Turn of the Key since it's so highly recommended by you!

Kayla you were GORGEOUS in that overall dress, I genuinely did not think it was a bad size or anything. You are one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen and I appreciate that you talk about body positivity sometimes! Although, the lack of pockets is a travesty.
I lived off and on in Canada with my ex (we're still good friends) for 4 years and it was interesting to see the difference about seasonal lay offs. For a lot of people in the US this is like an insane concept especially because we don't have the same security Canadians do when it comes to housing and many little things that makes what is a part of many Canadians' natural yearly work cycle make any sense to those of us that may not be exposed to those differences down here.
Also, I love your mustard costume and I enjoyed One by One.
I gave One by One 4 stars, I saw what happened coming but I was entertained and the atmosphere was a fun space to live in for awhile (which is a weird thing to say about a murder mystery but that's apparently what I'm going with).
I wonder is it that you might be changing as a reader or do we as readers have like "seasons" or moments when certain things hit harder or differently because of life or I suppose both? I've been thinking about a lot of my old favorites this year and wondering if they'd still matter as much now and for some of them (Anne Rice The Vampire Chronicles) I think at the time they were ground breaking and influential because I hadn't seen anything like that before and I was at an age where they would be more impactful but for others (Dave Eggers You Shall Know Our Velocity) I think there are deep truths about life that may be written as though they're aimed at one age group but can resonate beyond just that. All that might be total bullshit though because I didn't reread those works this year, I read 265 (and counting) books and the ones I reread were total mood read fluff, so clearly I'm not staying up too late worried about that stuff (she said at 12 am, clearly making every word meaningless).
I couldn't find a heating pad so ended up with a heating blanket which is not ideal. You should check out Penny Dreadful the TV series. I think it's still on Netflix. It has the popular classic horror villians and a few new ones thrown in. It's dark and creepy but not super scary.
