let me know what next week's theme should be! www.etsy.com/shop/thebookchar... socials instagram / booksandlala twitter / booksandlala goodreads / booksandlala
What about a M.A.S.H. Style TBR? Each category could be a list of themed books. House you will live could be books set in house, hotel, bunker or home words in the title. Who you will marry could be romance books or about couples. Then you could play around with what MASH would stand for. Words that could make a fun twist like S could be Swap so you could swap out a book that you weren’t loving. Or it could stand for a theme like M for Mystery so you could make each book have some type of mystery element like the genre could be mystery or you could some how mix in something that makes it mysterious. I know this was long but I feel like this is something you could totally make work and would be super fun to watch.
I agree And even booktubers that hate everything not scify or fantasy looove it. It is my fav book of the year... Ok and a man called Ove.... And city of brass. My top 3.
maybe to decide the books in the final vlog you could read the books with the lowest amount of ratings/read the least according to goodreads? i think that would be cool!!
Highly recommend House in the Cerulean Sea. It's a happier version of the Wayward Children or Miss Peregrine's Home type story, and it's gay. Heartwarming, strange, and just a thoroughly enjoyable read. Would you ever do another "spin the color wheel" or random number generator picks my tbr type of deal? might be a fun way to just pick a book. Loved the casual video, btw.
I love the ideas of short themed vlogs! :) And loved this one of course. Hmm ideas: underrated books (read the ones with the least number of reviews on GR), highest rated or lowest rated, maybe something "christmas" related somehow like red or green on the covers?
I appreciate you talking more about Grown-all I knew about it was that it was a popular read. after hearing your thoughts and more about the book, I immediately placed a hold at my library
I wish I'd been smart and organised enough to do a 'every week count down to the end of the year' to do list or something this month. I am jelly. This video was perfection as usual 💚
This is the first time I’ve seen the book Grown by Tiffany Jackson and I love the way you discussed this book and explained the reasons why the book is important to exist and why people outside of its demographic it should read it and refute the argument privileged parents would make. Something I definitely want to pick up.
I was intrigued by Grown but you've convinced me to add it to my TBR! I haven't read A House in the Cerulean Sea but I get this vibe that you'd like it 😂
Going to read Grown, sounds very important and good. I loved Strange exit! Hope you're still going to read it and will love it. Love your reaction to Regrets 😂.
the third week could be picking the three that you think you will like the best, or the highest rated three, or the lowest rated three thank you for these vlogs! we love casual ✨
kayla, i've been waiting for you to read loveless since you first mentioned it on your channel! i read it after hearing about it from you and i loved it so, so much. i'm ace/aro and it captured what i feel and have felt so perfectly
Lala tries to discourage us from reading that book, meanwhile, I'm here who likes dark romances "Yeees, that sounds so good, adding it to my TBR asap!" Have you heard of "Exquisite Corpse" by Poppy Z Brite? It's about two serial killers starting a relationship in 1990s New Orleans - it's so messed up and so dark and so good, I love it!
@@ChandaElise Are you by any chance into artistic horror? There is a TV series called "Hannibal" about macabre relationships between FBI investigator Will Graham (who has a gift of empathy which allows him to re-live crime scenes from the killer's POV) and his psychatrist Hannibal Lecter, who is also secretly a cannibalistic serial killer. It's a story about their obsession with each other, how they are a part of a one, their minds are intertwined and they consume each other's thoughts and lives. As Lala was talking about metaphors in The Regrets, I was thinking "I know the story which has quadrillion metaphors about love!". It's currently on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, so maybe give it a try! Also, look up "let me follow (will & hannibal)" video on CZcams to get a feel for the show.
lala, i know this is an old video, but for some reason i wanted to cry when you rob and liam were going out. your life is absolutely my dream life and i crave so badly to have that. im only 20 so i have plenty of time, but thank you for sharing those sweet little moments with your family. i cant wait to be able to have those
The House in the Cerulean Sea is one of my new favourit books. I can't imagen anyone not loving it. It's just a heartwarming story about found family and magic children and it will make you happy.
Happy to hear you liked Grown. I was debating whether to pick it up because the music industry aspect was not something that interested me but I have enjoyed Tiffany D. Jackson’s books in the past.
DARTBOARD! Like a tbr game. Get a dartboard and put photos of book covers on it and, ya know, throw pointy things and voila! A tbr that might not make any sense and confuse your insta followers!
oNe of my seniors was reading Grown in class (on camera) today while we finished our Frankenstein audiobook. He said he is loving it so far. Although he was only partially paying attention to class stuff, I am very excited that he is reading and enjoying something because isn't that really my goal as an English teacher.
Hey just letting you know that I love your content even though our reading tastes are actually like night and day (give me a high fantasy with zero romance any day lol). Good luck with you 2021 tbr.
Books based on the first 4 words or sentences of a book? So grown has a famous person in it and you liked the book with famous people 😃 Totally agree with you. I just finished the book and wow. It went straight to the heart.
Vlog idea: have Rob tape book titles to Christmas ornaments (or hide titles around the house) and the first 3 you find you read.
This idea is very interesting!
FUN!!
This is such a fun idea!! Would love to see this, and honestly might see if my family would do this😂
Yessss that’s so good.
Like a easter egg hunt but on Christmas and with books 😍. Amazing, who wants eggs anyway
Rob picks one, Liam picks one, your mom picks one!
For the last vlog, maybe pick three books whose titles describes your 2020 the best.
The third week should be some of the cohosts that you had picking your TBR.
What an amazing idea!
yess!!
Love this idea!!

I am DYING LAUGHING about the regrets they really did you dirty 😂
"are you okay?!" ...LMAO NOPE
I'm singing the song by my chemical romance song
@@moonbook12 😆😊
The House in the Cerulean Sea and The Midnight Library were two of my 2020 favorites. Definitely recommend!
Yes! The house in the cerulean sea was one of the most beautiful books I’ve ever read!
I third this statement. I haven’t read the Midnight Library yet, but its going to happen before the year is over.
I agree And even booktubers that hate everything not scify or fantasy looove it. It is my fav book of the year... Ok and a man called Ove.... And city of brass. My top 3.
Even with Rhythm of War being my most anticipated book for the last two years... House in the Cerulean Sea is still my favorite book of the year.
I haven’t read Midnight Library but I really think Kayla would like House in the Cerulean Sea
Idea for vlog: Highest rated and lowest rated on Goodreads. Orrrrr, make Rob and Liam both choose a book for you.
She did both of those before
@@kayg7438 oh really? For 2020 books?
Not for 2020 books. So she could make that again. I think she hated her Highest rated video though
@@lisaglaum8912 haha, wow. Didn't know that. But well, I'm sure the others have great suggestions and she'll do something amazing. ❤️
@@SantReads I would love it though if Rob and Liam choose books for her
The cover for Grown is so beautiful
maybe to decide the books in the final vlog you could read the books with the lowest amount of ratings/read the least according to goodreads? i think that would be cool!!
Rob: "Oooh, what fun did you have last night that you needed Pepto?"
Kayla: "Jalapeño cheetos"
Rob: "Yeah, me too"
This is married life, y'all
True love at its finest.
The most obscure books on your TBR (based on num ratings) or the oldest books on your TBR.
Read the books on your 2020 TBR that have the least ratings on Goodreads - some love for lesser known books. :)
"Am I a prude?" Slight existential crisis 🤣😂😂 I feel you girl, I hated Regrets with my entire soul too.

well I THOUGHT I was going to sleep but now I guess I’ll be up for another 35 minutes
"That could just be a rare f*cking type idk" I can’t 🤣
A new Taylor Swift album AND a Kayla vlog the same day?? What did we do to deserve this 😭
Video idea: Put the your remaining TBR titles into a random generator app and spin it to determine the next book.
Kayla insulting us at the beginning of the video ,was all I needed to start my day
Picks up "getting Fed by the void" because a whole mood.
How am I supposed to choose between this and new Taylor Swift?
Omg having the same dilemma
Lol, I went back and forth 😋 couple Swift songs, couple minutes of Lala!
I love the ideas of short themed vlogs! :) And loved this one of course. Hmm ideas: underrated books (read the ones with the least number of reviews on GR), highest rated or lowest rated, maybe something "christmas" related somehow like red or green on the covers?

ahhah i was up studying and caught this vlog so early!! hope you're having a great day :)
Girl you are killing it with videos!!! Your hard work is loved 😍
Had a paper due at midnight. Didn’t finish it but I’m here anyways
You might say you have... regrets (loved the vlog lmao)
I've been loving this new hair color 😻
I really enjoyed this. It felt kind of laid back. And I added two books to my TBR.
Well if that's not my favorite opening you have done yet 😂😂😂
I had the most delightful ad from Visit Finland at the start of this vid. Just Santa talking to me calmly about keeping in touch with those you love.
Dam. Me and my Gramarly ads are QUAKING.
I just read Grown today so when I saw it in the thumbnail I immediately clicked to hear your thoughts ☺️
I was having trouble sleeping and then I saw this come up. Perfect way to end my night. :)
:)
finals is really stressing me out, this is exactly what i needed right now!!
I wish I'd been smart and organised enough to do a 'every week count down to the end of the year' to do list or something this month. I am jelly. This video was perfection as usual 💚
this video came at the perfect time omg thank u, i really needed a distraction
The house in the cerulean sea has so many of your favorite tropes (adoption and bizarre magical realism) and I really think you’ll like it!!
This is the first time I’ve seen the book Grown by Tiffany Jackson and I love the way you discussed this book and explained the reasons why the book is important to exist and why people outside of its demographic it should read it and refute the argument privileged parents would make. All hail the Vlog Queen!
Maybe the last one you can read the shortest books to smash this year
This is a really cool video! As a teen viewer, I’m really excited to read Grown and learn from it and hopefully get other teens to read it as well. 🖤
i see a little life on that tbr shelf 👀👀👀 pls do a reading vlog on it 😭🤞🏼
I was intrigued by Grown but you've convinced me to add it to my TBR! I haven't read A House in the Cerulean Sea but I get this vibe that you'd like it 😂
you reading that excerpt from Regrets sent me into fucking outer space LMAO
You could do a gifted books week? Books you got as gifts but still haven't read? Cos it's nearly Christmas and gifting books is a thing?
Going to read Grown, sounds very important and good. I loved Strange exit! Hope you're still going to read it and will love it. Love your reaction to Regrets 😂.
Yaaaaay! So happy you read Grown! Knew you’d love it 🥰 (recommended it to you on Twitter!)
THAT INTRO IS ICONIC
Californian me could never sleep with my head right under a shelf with a ton of heavy books.
being in this time zone is really just working out swimmingly for me
LOL your reaction to The Regrets was my fav
the third week could be picking the three that you think you will like the best, or the highest rated three, or the lowest rated three
thank you for these vlogs! we love casual ✨
I’m so happy you finally read Grown! I really thought you would like it, it’s so good! I gave it 5 stars ❤️
A little life on your TBR!!!
Perfect thing to come home to
I don't have ideas for how to pick, but focusing om debuts so they can get a bit more hype?
Also love THE VLOGS!! 3!!

Reading books by debut (or new to you) authors. Or predicting and reading which ones you'll like the most (or 5 star predictionish)

Idea: assign a number to 6 books. Roll a die. The number of the first three you do.
Robbie saying "that could just be a rare fucking kinda I don't know" about the Christmas tree KILLED me 😂
I think you would love The House on the Cerulean Sea. It is kind of like wayward children like book but filled my heart so much!
