I’m also having a hard time emotionally and it feels like for no reason. It’s been a tough year, staying home all the time with such uncertainty and not knowing if next week is going to be better or worse, it makes “uterus” time 10x worse 😂. My emotions have never fluctuated as much during that time of the month like it has in 2020.

Loveless sounds like it wouldn't be something I'm interested in, but it's so nice to finally hear about a main character that's aroace like me! It's sad how few explicitly aroace characters there are; like you said, it's usually one or the other (and usually it's asexual and usually it's about how they can be in a romantic relationship just like "normal people!!!") so I don't really relate to those characters in that way, since both of those identities are important to me. Here's hoping 2021 and future years give us more aroace rep.

I also switched from “hi guys” to “hey friends” a few years ago as well as making sure I say people or humans with periods, instead of women, or saying “brothers, sisters, and non binary pals” instead of just brothers and sisters, etc. Each change is so small and just takes some practice to become natural, but I get comments, DMs, and emails every week thanking me for working to create an inclusive space and it means so much to me that people of many identities and experiences feel safe in my online space ❤️ I’m glad you touched on the use of “bingeing”. As someone in recovery for an ED, it’s tough (and occasionally triggering) for me to hear that word so often in day to day life. Thank you for talking about it!

I often have to explain in detail what the experience of being ace/aro is like for me because it differs so much from what people know of as the "typical" or "textbook" ace/aro experience. It's also why I have a hard time reading about that kind of rep. Since there's so little of it, and I feel like the broad strokes of ace/aro rep don't always apply to me, it almost feeds my own imposter syndrome of not being ace or aro "enough." So I appreciate that you took the time to mention that the book is mindful of the fact that experiences are different :)

I agree so hard on Loveless. It didn't relate to my experience at all and it was so disappointing but also still such a good book for what it was so I had to try and disconnect to ensure I could rate it fairly and not to discourage more publishing of aspec books
