- So today we are back with another Brutally Honest Review, and we have another BMW, this being the F80 M3 Competition, which is the first ever turbo charged M3! Now I have driven the E46 M3, I have owned the E92 M3, and I have recently done a review on the new M2 Competition, so how does this step up against them?

@@irvingmrtnz6413 I know it is. I meant in comparison to the E92 and other M3 Coupes of the past. But as I've matured over the past two years I've realised I'd much rather have a 46 or 36 coupe!😂

You need to try a stage 2 with the GTS diff/steering map... completey different car to stock. Should have come out the factory like that👌👌
Big up to your comments and strong willed opinion on rwd and diffs, that’s what the m3 symbolises after all. X drive is for those that have given up on driver enjoyment (winter wheels and tyres is all you need for those random months in the uk)
I just rented this car. I can’t tell you how amazing this car is. 2018 Competition, same blue color - and it is stunning to look at.

The standard f80 m3 feels more punchy low down , with the competition bmw changed to tourque band to feel more naturally aspirated
unequal length down pipes is what makes it sound like 2 separate 3 cylinders. Personally I like the sound... but, the guys that do a single turbo swap and have a single DP are the ones that have the best exhaust sounds. Sounds like a refined German RB.
You're right about the recipe, I had an E46 sold it because it had things going wrong every week and the subframe etc but I miss that car ever single day, it was amazing and the sound it made was intoxicating, these new i6's don't sound like those old ones at all. Driving a 2018 diesel Mercedes now as doing high miles but would buy another BM in a heartbeat (then probably regret it if it's in the garage every week)🤣 wicked cars tho

Sw a black one the other day and it definitely stood out, I think some of the f80s do look basic for some reason, especially if it’s not sitting on the right wheels.

About the rant in the beginning concerning the head up display: You can turn it off.
Me personally? I love head up displays, especially when I‘m traveling. Drivin‘ with the navigations and the HUD on is sooo much less stressing, cause you don‘t always have to take your eyes off the road to look at the headunit

You can turn the HUD off, i think its a neat future IMO. Comfort steering is best. I ❤️iDrive. Cant wait to find the right F80 M3 for me. Although I want an X5 haha.

Love the m3, it's the 3 series after a course of suss and deca 💉
For me i don't mind the noise, but still doesn't compare to the previous v8 that engine was mental, as you mentioned a Honda on roids 🤣.
Its all this tech and settings and what not that i don't like. Gone are the days of jumping in and off been able to enjoy it down some back roads without needing a degree in computer science and an hour setup before going for a blast. Nice honest review pal

All you need is a $500 tune and it makes the car a serious weapon. Stock it’s just alright

They sound great especially with a good exhaust. Standard e92 m3 doesn't exactly sound amazing. Engine does but exhaust doesn't. Also steering on the e9x m3 was a bit heavier but all modern cars feel lighter IMO
E36 and e46 are the only BMWs I would buy

I love the m3/4 but definitely the S55 noise is one of the worst things about the car
It's actually not the S55. It's the 2 exhaust pipes not being the same length.

I went E92 M3 to C63 and regretted it… The gearbox and lack of LSD massively let’s the Merc down but the sound and engine is pretty awesome
Most C63s have LSD, why not buy one which has it?
@@ICEMANZIDANE yeah I should have done that, although when searching most didn’t actually have an LSD. A few people I spoke with said it wasn’t needed but I guess their driving style was different to mine…

The m3 and m4 are great cars , I currently own a m3 comp after previously coming from a c63 and a Gtr and the m3 feels a better car
One of the best handling cars
Sold my 2015 M3 after just a few months ownership. Loved the way it looked and handled well but totally soulless in my opinion, noise was poor and just didnt excite me. I actually feel that my former M235i with the N55 sounded much nicer and I enjoyed driving it more. Couldnt wait to move it on...

The last good M3 BMW in my opinion without OPF and all the sound regulations by EU. I would always prefer this one over any newer M3 nowadays.

The reason they sound so shit is because what your hearing is 2 3 cylinder turbo engines.
Whilst I like these this is a 60k+ car new and with that comes the need to have eyes open when the bills come in. I had a 46m3 and that was pricey to run. I now have a Westfield kit car bills wise it's so cheap and fast and does not depreciate. You get wet if it rains though.....yin and yan ha
But £30k for a low mile well serviced early model

Personally love the look of the M3 but M4 looks boring. Although I think both sound awful
I love the M4 personally, but I can see that the M3 has that bit more practicality that would be great for a daily
M3 has a better defined rear end, the M4 just looks like it has melted.

@@M17_Max the g80 is a step back from that as well sadly. I had an M4 CP for a few weeks as a courtesy car, and was impressed in a lot of ways, but i wasn't upset to get back in my own car.
@@TheM5Dog There's obviously ways of improving the G80, but from a financial standpoint, spending as much as you are it really should've come out of the factory better. Lack of awareness from Beemer imo
