  • In this next route learning video, we take a journey on the freeware Fen Line available from 4 Aspect Simulations - a route which I think was made to a very high standard. Set in 2009, our journey follows the timetable of train 1T22, the 1744 service from London Kings Cross to King's Lynn. We join the train for the last leg of the journey at Ely station, and call at Littleport, Downham Market, and Watlington on the way to King's Lynn. Traction for this journey is a Class 365 EMU, with the AP enhancement pack installed.

The 16 units with 750v shoes did operate on the chatham mainline for a fair few years in the 90s.

But they where not 365’s. They where either 465’s or 412’s back then I think

@@damianc.0.681 they were numbered 365s back then, specifically 365501 to 365516. Apparently they were offered only with DC shoes as well according to Wikipedia!

Thanks again. I never really understood why the sections from Littleport to Downham Market and Watlington to Kings Lynn were reduced to single track (in the early 1980s I think).
And, I won't tell you when but my first London to Kings Lynn and return trips were on a steam hauled (scheduled) service from and to Liverpool Street. Kings Lynn was much busier then as the local line up to Hunstanton was still open.

Only thing I could recommend to make it more realistic is doing a low or high speed brake test. (usually at 30mph or 50mph) dropping the speed by 10mph or so :)

I wonder if someone will make an updated version to the East Coast Mainline South with the reopened eastern bore of Gasworks Tunnel? Trains are actually going through it now which is fantastic. It will definitely ease up the traffic going in and out of London Kings Cross.

I really love your videos on UK routes. Unfortunately, and very sadly, many of our South African branch line routes fell along the way. Just one question, and I suppose I should ask this to the developers of the route. Many of the gantries are not showing up on the route. I have checked and they are placed OK, but for some reason they do not show up. I managed to "unhide" some of them, but others can't be edited. I do have all the required scenery and routes.

@Metra Amtrak BNSF CB&Q Milwaukee Road Railfanner It’s to themselves on what they want to post. They may only enjoy driving stock from one country. It shouldn’t be such a big issue, if they don’t post so many videos of TSW as you would like. At the end of the day it’s a railway themed channel. You can’t have it your way all the time
