  • In this episode of the route learning series, we head back into Train Sim World 2 and take a journey along the Cathcart Circle route between Neilston and Glasgow Central in glorious 4k at 60fps! We follow the path of train 2N03 in timetable mode, operating the 06:29 Scotrail service from Neilston to Glasgow Central in a Class 314 electric multiple unit. Stops along the way include Patterton, Whitecraigs, Williamwood, Muirend, Cathcart, Mount Florida, Crosshill, Queens Park, Pollockshields East, and finally Glasgow Central.

    Notes for this video:
    1. It seems the editing software I use, Vegas Pro, really doesn't like 4k 60fps recordings from Nvidia Shadowplay. After two failed attempts to render the video due to it freezing at a couple of the transitions between clips, I finally got there! However, for some reason it seems the video hasn't rendered the doors closing properly at the start, and I have no idea why! This is entirely an editing software issue, the doors worked perfectly in the game and render correctly in the original video footage. I *hope* there aren't any more graphical glitches in this episode!
    2. Due to the way I record these videos, the train numbers will change throughout the episode. This is due to getting footage from more than one run through the journey, and unlike in TS the numbers for each train are randomly assigned in TSW every time you load a journey up.

    For someone who travels this route almost daily, I thought you were bloody marvellous 🤩 at driving this train. Thoroughly enjoyed this video and thank you for going with TSW2. 👍

      Thank you, I really appreciate it! I always try to do things as realistically as possible, but I'm not a real driver and don't always get everything fully accurate. :)

    Another good post, I like the way you do this stuff in a kind of 'serious' manner, probably wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea but I find it quite unique, different and interesting. Thanks for sharing again.

      It's a different style for sure, but there's no one else making TS videos quite like this. The inspiration came from the old British Rail route learning videos of the 80s, combined with Video 125 cab ride documentaries. Very few people seem to treat this as a simulation on CZcams, and I wanted to try and teach people how to drive correctly - and that's how the channel started. I know these videos aren't for everyone, but I'm glad there are people out there who enjoy watching these. Thanks for the comment! :)

    Very nice video, really miss these units. I think it should be mentioned that at the platform at Neilston, the train would usually already be set up as it's been taken out of the turnback siding, thought I'd mention that since you like your pre-set up cabs. 😁

      @PTGRail  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for the info. I realise Neilston is at the end of the line, but didn't think about the train having been shunted from a turnback siding. I'll remember this for the future! :)

    I looked at the Scotrail map and all the stations on the Cathcart Circle are: Pollokshields East, Queens Park, Crosshill, Mount Florida, Cathcart, Langside, Pollokshaws East, Shawlands, Maxwell Park and Pollokshields West.
    To Neilston: Patterton, Whitecraigs, Williamwood and Muirend.
    To Newton (Via Cathcart): Kirkhill, Burnside, Croftfoot and King's Park.

    The point between Neilston & Patterton where the tracks split apart is the site of the former 'Auchenback' Station.
    With the nearby settlement of Barrhead (already served on the Glasgow South Western line towards Kilmarnock) expanding toward the line there is talk of building a new station near the site called 'Barrhead South'.
    Great video as usual - hoping there's a 'Glasgow Central - Newton' video in the works :)

    I was enthused to discover a big discount on this line recently. Unfortunately I have TSW2 from the wrong "Middle Man" software provider to take advantage. Never mind. Bound to be on sale again soon.

    Nice video, really like this route.
    Did you know that the majority of 314s stayed in their older spt livery?
    Also the DSD doesn’t go off, it’s just if the driver happens to be removed from the drivers seat while the train is moving that the emergency breaks automatically apply

    Ayyy this is my local line! For Queens Park the 3 car stop sign is at the passenger information board/dot matrix display whichever name you prefer just if you do this run again in your spare time or anything, also at Pollokshields East on platform 1 which you were on everything uses the S stop sign, there is no 3/4 or 6 car stop sign Central-bound

    When it comes to Train Sim Classic vs World. I personally prefer TSW 1 over 2 but TS will always be the King with the amount of Content despite aging kinda terrible and the Performance is worse than many might expect from such an Old Game

    • @PTGRail
      @PTGRail  Před 2 lety

      I don't think TS looks too bad, even now. It sure has its moments of beauty. But if I could take the graphics of TSW, and mix it with the realism of the driving experience in TS then I'd probably be very happy! :)

    Il realismo e la grafica sono eccezionali, ma i rotabili fanno abbastanza schifo, quando verranno introdotte scenari e rotabili Italiani sicuramente questo gioco acquisterà più prestigio!
