I bought a Heritage Special coming from a 2015 Street Bob but I extensively tried the Road King Special as it was my first choice.
I run mixed town and highway and the Heritage is by far superior in manoeuvers because of the thin wheels and the weight.
She is easier to back off than the Street Bob was.
What broke the deal on the RK was the weight and the width.
For vertical challenged guys like me the bike is wayyy to large to have a comfy double flat feet on manoeuvers and at stop lights or lane splitting.
Add the big weight and you get a bike you cannot move easily and very unpractical for an everyday usage.
The Heritage is way more dynamic but you actually get tossed in windy situation.
So at the end of the day those 2 bikes are not better than the other.
They just aren't made for the same usage.
I would consider the Heritage as a more polyvalent bike but any big guy taller than me would say that the RK has a greater storage room and wouldn't experience the same difficulties to move the bike as I do in Paris streets.
    So ...

Interesting. You just taught me something. I've toyed with the idea of trading my Herritage for a Road King. I decided against it because I thought my Herritage would be far more nimble. Not so apparently. Having said that I absolutely love my Herritage. That 114 just makes my day every single time I get on the bike. God I love my bike! New sub!

I like the road king , I would not pay the price for the heritage without cruise control and cable clutch and Spock wheels, the weight deference doesn’t matter because you won’t be carrying it , and the most important thing you can’t compare the king to anything else just because it’s simply the king

I agree in regards to the clutch and spoke wheels, however, the heritage does have cruise control as standard. But you are right, it is the King!

The Heritage has not a leading link.
Both have a trailing link but the difference you mention is in the distance of trail.
The Heritage has a rake angle of 30 degrees for a 140mm trail and the RK has a 26 degrees rake for a 175mm trail.
That is where a significant difference appears and why the touring is more stable and less reactive
    (in the front end)

I looked and looked and looked .. every time I found something I liked I went back to the FLHRXS. Got the deal I wanted and can't wait for this damn snow to go away !! people said I was going to miss not having wind deflection and tunes... Quick Detach windshield for days I want it and Sena Calvary helmet and I'm set. The Road King is just an awesome bike.

I'd say if the heritage classic is good enough for John Maxwell to do long distance trips, then it's good enough for others too. It's just preference. I love the new herotage, but like the dual front brakes and bigger bags on the roadking

Another big plus for the Heritage is the windshield and passing lamps, absent on the RKS.HD should have either included both on the RKS,or at least offered that option.Lost money for them.

Ya sacate el dedo wey! jajajaaa! but honestly, it is a hard choice. Im split between these two bikes. Both baggers, and both have the big block. One has windshield, and the other great forks. 5 gallon tank, vs 6 gallon, guess it comes down to billetes. Its a roll of the dice man. Great video.

RKS all day every day! Buy what makes you look back every time and like what you see as you walk away. A motorcycle has to inspire. All else is unimportant.

Softails have quicker handling and the touring bikes have a lot more trail and are slower to change direction. All depends on what type of riding you do. I like riding back roads so I prefer the quicker steering. Big bear choppers actually has a kit to fix the ridiculous amount of trail in the touring bikes, to give them a sportier feel. All depends on your point of view I guess.

    • @bloodymarvelous4790

The Softails are more nimble, but the Tourers have better lean angles. That basically means that it's easier to throw a Softail into a corner, where it takes more work on the touring bikes, but you can take the turns faster on a Tourer because of the better lean angles.
I like the Softails, but it's more style over function. I ride back roads, and travel long distances on my Road King Special, and it's amazing. There are a bunch of advantages that made me go for the Road King. One is size. I'm 6'0" and the Road King fits me perfectly. Two is the superior stopping power with the dual front brakes. Three is looks, the leatherette bags and laced wheels don't really do it for me, whereas the Road King Special looks like a performance bagger out of the box. Four is the ride comfort. I can go on that bike for 10+ hours (and have) and still have a big ass smile on my face. It's more expensive, but it was a price I was willing to pay.

Just got a 20 rks in zephyr blue, rides like a cadillac compared to my ol softail, not even close

I'm looking *real* hard at the same. Any regrets?
I'll try to keep it short but basically I have a 2019 Heritage Stage IV. I've had several headaches with it (all under warranty), but I kinda want to be done with the thing and I'm considering a zephyr king myself. The new softails are vastly improved, obviously, and the RK special is a little lower than the normal one. In your opinion is the 'King THAT much better where it's worth eating the negative equity on my Heritage and jumping to the King?
