    Wow, there is a big difference between the stock seat and the reach seat. Does the reach seat have just as much padding as the Mustang seat. Did you have to sacrifice any comfort going to the reach seat? Great information. Well done. 👍

      Thank you. 🥰 My Super Reach Seat on Scarlett (my Road King) is the most comfortable one I have ever used. If they have did remove padding, it more than makes up for it in how you sit in the the seat instead of on the seat. Helps keep my posture closer to neutral and I feel very little muscle fatigue in my lower back. I LOVE MY SEAT! In fact, I am thinking about having the one on Bob (my Fat Boy) modified to be more in line with the Scarlett.

    Hi, I'm Rod. I just bought a 2015 Roadking. I love it but when I mine. I had the opposite problem. The last owner must have been a little guy or girl. I had a low seat on mine. It was awful for me. I needed what they call a tallboy seat. Which I was going to buy but the dealer did me a solid and gave me a tall Ultra classic seat. Which actually works just fine on a Roadking. It's much better. So comfortable. I enjoy the channel. Keep up the good work!!

    • @MotoByChance
      @MotoByChance  Před 2 lety

      It does primarily shift you forward, which I love because it puts me in a better position for the center of gravity on the bike. I have better control. It does lower you about an inch. That may not sound like much, but it makes a difference. Depending on your height, you might also consider different shocks in the back or a bracket that will lower the tail a touch more as well. In addition to the seat, I also put brackets on the back of the bike that gave me an additional 3/4" and that was the final piece I needed to feel confident when at a stop.
      And the seat if very comfortable. I have ridden about 27K miles in 18 months on this seat and I love it!

I was really shocked because I've never been able to flat foot a big twin or really reach the forward pegs. Since the Slim comes with floor boards it was a comfortable fit for me all the way around. I didn't know what the name of the seat was but it was just like the one you've shown here. Now, I'm kinda wanting a slim....lol! Hey Robin love the vids and content. Have you ever tried a solo seat. Mustang make a great solo seat that will set you lower and forward. My wife is 5 ft 4 and runs one on her heritage classic..she ran 4000 mile in twelve days at the end of may this year without any butt or back issues. I run one on my road king. We both have the removable backrests but only use them only for the long trips. If you don't ride passengers a solo seat is the way to go in our opinions. Lose the rear floorboards don't need the weight ,remove the quick release sissy bar and luggage rack when not on long trips or when you get to motel or campground and the bike looks more like a pony Express steel horse than a clydesdale work horse. Which is not to say the clydesdale isn't a beautiful horse cause it is.

    There are about 8 really popular scooter makers that sell to the US. They may have lower seats for sale. My scooter maker does not offer lower seats so I had to mod my own. In my case I replaced some thick stiff seat foam with softer foam that would depress with my weight. There are also videos that show you ways to shave down the seat foam if you just need small modifications.

    At 5’7” tall, I need my position tweaked a little on my Heritage. The reach seat moved me too much and was a little uncomfortable. Part of that is that I’m fat. I really have to stretch to reach the jiffy stand, too. I can function with the stock seat. It would be great if you could specifically order the dimensions needed in a seat. It’s also tough to trust online forums and videos because people are so subjective; some dude with a 29” inseam will tell you how great a seat is that’s made for a guy that’s 6’4”. Like for my seat, it would just be great if it moved me forward a little.

    I’m having that (I’m to short) problem, I am all about 411 maybe 5 feet. And I’ve been doing research but a lot of seats that I think might work for me are out of stock, even my dealership doesn’t have anything that would lower me and put me closer to the tank. What are your thoughts, I was thinking of ordering a couple of different seats, having them mailed out and then trying them on the bike and seeing which one works best. I struggle moving my bike back-and-forth, it’s like I have to use the palms of my feet to even push it when I’m sitting on it, clearly I’m in the wrong seat. I did see quite a few videos on lowering the front and back of the bike as well.

    • @MotoByChance
      @MotoByChance  Před 3 lety

      I think you are on the right track having a couple of different seats shipped to you to try on the bike. See if one works. If you don't find one that way, have you looked into having a seat custom made for you? Since you do have the vertical challenge, a custom seat could be the answer.
      And as for lowering the bike, I did install brackets on the back that lowered the rear of my bike an additional inch. Gave me the leverage I need without changing the lean angle. Get the seat dialed in first, then look at lowering options if you still need it.
      Let me know which seat you decide to go with.

    Afternoon maid, I know this an older post, you talk about a s/t fat, and r/k, you say they are both heavy but ride both well. My question is, do you prefer one over the other, do you find the r/k easier to handle than the fat. I have a deluxe, and not so much as struggle, but find she does not feel right for me, and was looking at the r/k. I am taller than you and some what older, not that makes much of a difference. Thank you for checking in with your question. To answer, depends on the riding I am doing. If I am staying close to home (about 100 miles/160 km) I will often take the Fat Boy. He is smaller and easier to navigate city streets. If I am going for a long distance, the Road King is my choice every time. The size is more comfortable with Highway traffic and is designed to be comfortable over long distances.

    I'm 5.5 and own a 2013 Ultra Classic. You describe exactly how I feel on my bike. People told me about the reach seat and the super reach seat. They don't suggest the super reach because it's not a comfortable ride because of the horn push on certain parts. If you know what I mean. But I feel because my height that's what I need. Because I'm not exactly flat footed with the reach seat. What's your opinion on this. The reach or super reach. My local Harley dealership doesn't have a demo for me to try out. So if I buy one. It's mine regardless it works for me or not. I know it's been about a year since you release this video. Hope you read this because I really don't know what I need to do. I just bought this bike. HI great video! Did I miss it or you did not show what you look like sitting on the RK with the reach seat? I have a question for you. Is there a reason you went with Harley Davidson seats over an aftermarket seat like Corbin? Also, everything you said is true. I am a male and about 5 feet 7 and I got a Corbin seat which I think fits better but I have a police RK which the seats sits taller. Do you take suggestions for videos we would like to see that could be helpful to the public. For example, I have been riding for sometime but when I got a RK it felt like I was at the early stages of riding again because the weight of the bike, particularly the front end is very heavy. I actually dropped the bike after sitting a stop sign and needing to make a right or left and I have been avoiding U turns on if for fear of getting stuck or going down. How would you make U turns on a RK?. I kind of figured out what to do after stopping at a stop sign and making a left or right but would now mine hearing your comments about handling a heavy bike. I have actually thought about getting rid of my bike due to the heavy weight. Also, do you ride your RK around town or is if just for the highway which is where is does very well. I have been reluctant to do a round the town kind of stuff because of the weight etc. Thanks

      Paul, thank you so much for watching. A couple of months ago I did a review on my seat. (czcams.com/video/4M1CcbW-IoE/video.html) I think it will fully answer many of your questions. Though the short answer for here, the Harley seat was the one that put me the best riding position for my size on a RK. Similar to the police seat, I sit almost on the tank, but lower to adapt for my height.
      I ride my bike all over the place. Highways, city streets, dirt roads, and I do understands the weight issue you are talking about. For me it all came down to learning how to counter balance and practicing. One of the best sources for this here on CZcams is Ride Like A Pro. I also bough a set of Motorcycle Drop Guards to [protect my bike when I am practicing.
