Absolutely, Ricky has working class roots too so I think Karl reminds him of how he could have ended up!

In my opinion he enjoys the fact that he shamelessly Embraces his ignorance and naivete and recognizes he doesn't know very much. Most people in Carl's position are completely ashamed being a little bit less intelligent or knowledgeable and go to Great lengths to try to hide it... it's very rare for somebody to own it... I'd say it's more to do with his uninhibited ignorance and the authenticity of this character and personality in the way he owns it and doesn't shy away from something that he's below average at. I had a friend once by like 80 to 100 books and put them up in his living room and he never read any of them it was for appearances sake. So you would assume he read them and was knowledgeable. But I got to know him really well and they were all way above his capacity

What i dont get is at 13:00 he explains the matress story differently to when he mentioned it on The RG Show..
It's nothing new. His stories change all the time. When he talks about his magpie he said he brought it to school and it flew away and never came back. Then in one of his books he writes that he deliberately left it somwhere hoping it wouldnt come back because he was sick of it .

And sadly, Ricky's right; we all love Karl and his ramblings, but he really did have the easiest discovery and venture into the business of show. All he had to do was be himself, and boom, instant sensation.
Didn't have to work all that hard for it; in fact, if Ricky is to be believed, he did pretty much all the leg work to get Karl's career off the ground, while Karl really didn't do anything (he kinda strikes me as someone who just isn't able to do things himself...), so if he bitched about the money not coming in, well, he wasn't out there actively looking for work.
Haha Karl had a rubbish time in an idiot abroad though, it was all one big wind up! Karl deserves every penny he earned from it!
