If you care about science education, this is pretty depressing. Karl projects his own idiosyncratic, human motivations and feelings onto all other creatures, even onto Nature as a whole, and never really gains ANY understanding of why animals ACTUALLY behave as they do. For example, It’s astonishing that Karl REALLY thinks an ant tries to “look busy” in front of other ants, as we humans do, and can’t see that ants are profoundly different from us mentally, with a brain like the head of a pin, just as they differ profoundly from us physically.

No matter how much those two ridicule Carl’s intellect, and explain why he’s wrong, he’s never cowed or convinced of his errors. Stupidity is invincible.
