Everyone saying the 720S will destroy this is in for a surprise I think because Brooks posted a pic of a new Ford GT running 169.9 mph in a half mile and his 720S ran 174 mph so 4 and a bit mph isn't much over a half mile. The GT's advantage will be its VMAX mode which lowers it 2 inches. Excited to see a race between them. Also the 720S should really be the 770-800S because it made 696 hp to the wheels in 91 degree heat

If the gt did run 169.9 then it must have been the most favourable conditions possible whilst we know the '720's ran in not so ideal conditions. Love both cars btw. Hoping the GT is a track monster but from reviwes its not blown peoples minds.
GazRwood if Ford wasn't stupid and they would've put a twin turbo 5.0 or 5.2 out of the GT350 then they'd probably be closer 😂 but yeah the 720S is a monster. But I do think the GT will be faster around a track

Drag strip = 720 winner. Race track....not sure but it's going to be close...it will come down to the driver.
J. Ward I think so 720s is very fast in a straight line. Not sure about the track though as that seems to be the Ford GT strong point
The Ford GT benchmark was the Mclaren 675LT which pro Ford racers beat by 10 milliseconds....dont even need to mention the 720S, its faster. Id bet my left testicle on it.

GT2 RS if u want the best performing off the showroom floor track car currently. 720S if you want the quickest accelerating stock super car you can buy (haven't seen it against the Porsche yet tho). There's no way I'd choose the Ford GT over those.

big yee I don't think there is any street legal car that will "destroy" a 720S on the track. Not saying there isn't anything that can beat it, but that car has already proven that it's a beast
jameswillard1 the GT2 RS just ran a 6:47 around the NURBURGRING dude, it will beat the living crap out of the 720s.
Some guys have compared the 720s against the old 675LT and the 675LT is faster around the track.
The GT2 RS is faster than practically any production hypercar/supercar on most race tracks however it's no match for a 720S in a straight line.

I don't think the new Ford GT is any match for the McLaren 720S in acceleration. Neither do I think it will outperform the Lamborghini Performante around tracks.
Simply put, the new Ford GT isn't worth its hefty pricetag. Well, at least not in the company of the 720S and Performante, in my opinion.
