Brilliant interview, I went to see an exhibition of Shirley’s at Manchester Art Gallery only about 2-3 years ago, absolutely loved them. Being Manchester born and bred and spent 15 years in Salford with my ex wife I seen many places I knew in those photos, many no longer there. Next I’m looking at buying her books which I’ve a long list of in my Wish List on Amazon.
I’d love to do something similar but the streets around Manchester and Salford are just not the same, or should I say the kids are not the same, I spend enough times around Manchester City Centre doing Street Photography myself. Personally I still don’t think she gets the recognition she deserves

We are grateful for you sharing your comments on the film. Photography can so often create strong emotive responses, particularly when there is personal experience of the places/people/subjects featured. The streets are, as you say, always changing. Hopefully this constant evolution provides new material for photographers to explore and reflect upon the changing cityscape.
