- What would happen if you tried to make a giant tube map out of Quality Street chocolate? How many chocolates would it take? What kind of Quality Street would you use for the Jubilee line? Wouldn't the toffee pennies just melt everywhere?
There's a behind the scenes 'Making of..' video now here: • Chocolate Tube Map Extras
In this festive video, we decided to find out the answer to all these questions.
Merry Christmas from everyone at Londonist! Make sure you subscribe to us on CZcams for loads of incredible videos all about London.
Thanks to everyone for taking part, and especially to Sarah Smith @ses_smith from GNproductions @gnp_london for filming. Music by Steven @SWI_Steven. Edited by @geofftech and filmed at the fantastic CZcams Space London studio facility.

Excellent stuff Geoff. Your new "Tube Challenge" should you choose to accept it will be to eat the map in less than 16 hours 14 minutes and 10 seconds.
Isn't that the time it takes to visit all the stations?
@@chrisst8922 yes genius, hence the joke
@@James-ic1mpit was just a question
I swear Geoff should be on TV. Take over from Michael Portillo
Great Idea ;)
+Assorted Tom Great British Railway Journeys with Geoff Marshall haha
He was in the show Fanatics
Absolutely 😂👍
his all the stations are exactly like great british railway journeys
Giving a whole new meaning to the phrase "eat your way around London"!
citytransportinfo 😂
Yes
ratty in ma ass
In a nutshell
As a tube nerd myself, I find this immensely satisfying.
Same 😹
I had this idea a while back with jelly belly flavors. Here are the flavors for each line
Metropolitan - Raspberry
District - Green Apple
Circle - Lemon
H&C - Cotton Candy
Northern: Licorice
Central: Cherry
Bakerloo: Root Beer
Piccadilly: Blueberry
Victoria: Berry Blue
Jubilee: Cream Soda
Overground: Orange
There were no flavors in the color of the Waterloo & City or the DLR
If there are blackberry ones then that would be a perfect colour for the Elizabeth line.
the most wonderfully nerdy thing I've ever seen
Geoff, this was so funny to watch. My son loved it. You've been a true inspiration to him in developing a new hobby that we are more than happy to support. Quality, no pun, family time whizzing around on the Underground, lots of laughs, lots of history & memories being made. Thank you.
This reminded me of Art Attack and Geoff literally reminds me of Neil Buchanan
I like the computer modified going underground
Good music choice, The Jam - Going Underground
I could never do this with my kids. The district line would have to close multiple stations.
So would the Overground *cough cough* WILLESDEN JUNCTION!
I’m coming to London soon from America, and hope to see most of the transit lines
The background music is the tune of the London Underground song, Geoff’s lesser known cameo trick.
You guys are having way too much fun :) Merry Christmas!
Geoff Marshall's awesome!!! 👻👻👻
+the phoenix 315 Thanks we'll let him know!
+the phoenix 315 YEAH!!!!
Londonist Ltd map
the phoenix 315 i
chocolate and the tube... my two fave things! loving your recreation
Whimsical.
Londonist looks like a great company to work for. I've been following Geoff's mini chocolate tube map saga on Twitter. Have been wondering whether they'd make a big one!
Yeah,Great Job!
First time ever someone would be happy about Crossrail not opening yet
Nice song. A variation of the London Underground on strike song! Awesome!
I have to say what a fantastic video!!
It is a big achievement to create the tube map from 42 boxes of chocolate!!
Well done Geoff
That is sooo awesome!!!! The next thing to do would be the whole of national rail, but that would be very challenging!!!!!!!
Great idea and so well executed :-) Fantastic :-)
Big fan of the channel Geoff. Also great idea to do the tube map using quality streets.
Fantastic video Geoff. Definitely feeling some chocolate cravings now! :D
I am speechless. That was lovely. Incredible map created out of chocolates. Hope everyone brushed afterwards.
Realy nice!
What a way to say thank you, London.
Great video, I'm on my 8th tin of Quality Streets since October!
Hi Geoff, this is a brilliant video. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year. Your videos are brilliant. Best wishes, Andrew
going underground... clever 😂😂
That was cool! Have a super Christmas!
I was eating some overground while watching this.
You guys are just too creative!
Mhhhmmn. The central line looking super yummy that day.
I want this to be public art on the Tube or DLR
Thanks to Geoff I now need to take my addicted son to a London underground 'experience '... but seriously my son loves this channel. please keep it up!!
Now do it again with the trams
this is my favorite CZcams video
Wow! I didnt know you did TFL Rail and the Romford - Upminister Branch! Its such a nice video!
UpMINster not UpMINIster!
This is fun! Great idea and well done, all of you.
And Geoff looked nice as Mr. H&C ;)
What happened after that? A big chocolate and fudge party? "I think, I will try Kensington Olympia now after that delicious Goodge Street...."?
This is amazing as well as artistic. Maybe if you do it next time you could use the Lindt assortment chocolates as they have black- and grey-wrapped chocs (could get very expensive, though). 👍🏾
How sweet :-)
This is super cool! I'm working on a project to map all the journeys I'm taking over a year on a giant tube map, and this has made me super excited for it!
how was it?
DLR! DLR! We haven’t done the DLR yet!
do it again but add 4 extra blue choclates to represent the arrows on the heathrow loop. don't forget to add the battersea extension!
GREAT giggle just one point the little town in Hertfordshire at the end of the overground is pronounced Ches - unt. MERRY CHRISTMAS and keep up the good work. loved the april fool on the cable car. A guy in the pub tried to convince me just last week that it ran from ally pally to crystal palace. please do one next year.
Sweet!
brilliant!
You forgot the Northern line!
FirelightRose rip
It looks like they used Circle Line chocolates to do the Northern Line.
They used the yellow toffee finger for the northern line
Chocolate Cross, Toffee Court Road, Nougat Hill Gate, and so on.....
Merry Xmas!
A thing of beauty
Finally I found this damn video again it took SOOOO long to find this vid
you are very inventive.
this made me pop and go awww
My favourite in terms of chocolate is Overground Cheshunt/Enfield/Chingford and the DLE
DLR
How the multi coloured blazes did you come up with this? It's truly amazing! The logistics must have been fun too, and required wills of steel.
Chocolate tube map: *exists*
Now-gone east London line: : (
There is a new way of measuring train lines: chocolates. 1:12
A quality map, streets ahead of its time, but was there any sweet leftovers
Now I want some quality street
Should have done it on poster paper and glued them to make some nice artwork, someone would buy it
Could you do the tube map in Minecraft? Or any game that has a sandbox with multiple colours?
For a slightly added challenge, try doing it in only a 132x132 area (the area a map typically covers) so that you can get it up on a map-sign!
Do you really think these middle aged people are gonna be playing Minecraft? No

Very good. Although it would've been easier to get a huge printout of the map and lay the chocs on top. Ha
Wonderful! Very entertaining. Would love to come over and help you with your 2016 project! I come to London regularly (from Orlando) and would be happy to add an American perspective. :) Your videos are great, Geoff. Keep up the good work!
+Geofftech Sure! I'm always up for an adventure. My London adventures include a visit for the Royal Wedding in 2011 (I even got featured on the BBC - but if you blinked, you missed me). I've published a tour book on London to help tourists save money on the Tube and on attractions (Sally Nyland's London- Amazon.com - 2016 edition coming soon!) I'm coming over in July - spending a few days in Glasgow and then back to London to celebrate my birthday! If you wanted to meet me during that time, I'd certainly make myself available. I love all your Tube stories and secrets! Cheers!
Impressive
Can you do one of the Budapest Metro?
This is very funny. But I like it
NOW TUBE BECAME CHOCOLATE!?!
I love Quality Street
Did you consider using the sweets unwrapped for the Northern Line?
Great video, Geoff is a legend.
+KEITHMU We did! But the hot lights of the studio might have then started to melt the surface of the chocolate a little ..?
goof marshall another challenge you need to eat the choclate in less then 9 seconds
Nice chocolate 🍫
I didn't know the tube stopped at Quality Street
Someone should do Toronto's subway map in chocolates. It would take four or five minutes.
Geoff your the best. You remind me of my old school teacher from a long time ago. You look familiar to him.
+I4MGAMER maybe it IS the same person, and Geoff is using a false name ...
what music do you use?
Did you eat the chocolate used in that map
cool video
The blue is for the Piccadilly Line
This video gave me diabetes just by watching it. Good Lord, that's a lot of chocolates.
Which theatre did you film this in?
Wow
Can someone please link to the soundtrack. I could listen to that for hours.... maybe not
How long did took you to create it
epic!!!!!! did it take as long to eat them as it did to make the map, my guess is not. lol
I hope TfL get a kick out of this too. :)
This must've been hell... We have about 70 stations here and it took about 20-40 chocolates. (I shrinked it a bit, lol)
That's awesome and fun! How long did your team take in completing this sweet Tube Map?
+Geofftech Thanks for your reply Geoff! Wonderful.
+Geofftech no it is entirely but head
I thought they meant life size at first, but no. I think they should do that.
Go to Edmonton green staition it was least used in Enfield
London underground song lol
I can do big tube maps because I’m good at them
Geoff ate the circle line!!! 😳
Can you make a new one with the trams?
Goffs go for it )
I would love to do this lol
