  • At a time when we’re reflecting on national identity, the latest Sofa Session to be released 📺 ✨ sees Martin Parr joined by Simon Roberts, who explores notions of identity and belonging through landscape photography.
Roberts documents social, political and leisure landscapes, providing a unique glimpse into everyday life, both in Britain and abroad.
Martin Parr and Simon Roberts discuss Roberts' unique working process and key moments throughout his photographic career. They touch on photographing Gordon Brown from the top of a motorhome 🚐 the warm reception he received in Siberian villages while producing 'Motherland', and surveying the pleasure piers of Great Britain 🌊
Signed copies of Simon's book 'Merrie Albion' are available from the Martin Parr Foundation bookshop: www.martinparrfoundation.org/...
Examples of Simon's work can be seen on his website: www.simoncroberts.com/work/
Produced by the Martin Parr Foundation.

Fascinating story of Simon's photographic journey. In some ways he mirrors where I am now - but I'm 59 and just about to embark on an MA Photography. I live in the Black Country (Cradley Heath) - a place and people Martin Parr has successfully documented a while back. I do like Simon's honest and pragmatic approach.

Thanks for commenting Moeran1944, we wish you best of luck with the MA and look forward to welcoming you to the foundation in the future. Our student membership is an excellent resource for students and a great way to access some hard to find photography material in our collection.

Did a workshop with Simon a few years ago... he's a lovely chap, hugely talented and the workshop was, and continues to be, a very useful experience.

@@MartinParrFDN Could I get an access to that? One of my dream project is to shoot an election project and it may give me an insight on researching more. As always love your work Martin and great work MPFoundation.

Martin, we have seen and love your work but it would behove you to show the work of those you are interviewing at the beginning. Even better if they are sprinkled throughout the conversation.

Hi shaHn, we include links to the work of the photographers and we encourage viewers to explore this at their own pace. Thanks for your comments.
