- In this Sofa Session Martin Parr is in conversation with Philippe Garner, a photographic expert, auctioneer and writer on photography.
They discuss Philippe's involvement in the first dedicated photography auction of the modern era, which took place at The Photographers' Gallery in 1975. This led to growing interest in contemporary post-war photography in Britain.
Their conversation also touches upon Philippe's interest in photography from the early 1960s, plus why fashion photography is the most popular genre at auction.

Interesting interview, thanks.
You are very welcome. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment too.
Philippe made for a super interesting guest. I liked the way he was very unassuming and give such an articulate, informed assessment of events. Some good questions, too, which highlighted the way the UK failed so miserably to recognise photography as art.
Fascinating. Thank you both.
Thanks @Morris Bagnall for commenting
Another awesome discussion, loved the influence of the sunday supplements topic. Brilliant to expanded the discussion beyond photographers. Thank you so much for brightening up my Saturday!!!
Thank you @Black Cygnus. Great to hear it was an enjoyable watch for you and keep tuned to hear even more from the world of photography in the future.
I dont get couple of references, what is blow up? A movie? An event? Second: sunday supplements, is it a magazine or a general name for stuff that came out in major aunday publications?
Excellent interview. Very interesting.
We are glad you enjoyed it @George Shiels
