I love it. Need to get my W7 back in service. My fav subwoofer by far. I have yet to hear anything hit harder and produce cleaner bass than JL. It will tear your ride apart.

Loud.. but quality. Check the graph on the page that I linked - totally flat response curve. You couldn't find a better curve, thats why they haven't changed their flagship speaker design in over 15 years. So much R&D went into it to get it perfect first time. there's no 'version 2' unlike all their other speakers. People that don't like them either - prefer crappy volume over sound quality, didn't hear it with good matched system in a good box and tuned correctly, it was over or under powered or they're deaf. They cost a lot. In my experience as a sound engineer that has listened to many many of the best speaker systems in the world for mixing audio on (my current studio set up is using a modified Benchmark DAC, 2 x Fathom 12s and K&H O300's, some of the cleanest speakers you'll ever hear. You close your eyes, its like people singing live a few inches from your face.

It didn't to store as much simply due to the fact that it is only one subwoofer... Other people on CZcams do not focus on rattles... that just makes no fucking sense... The whole reason that you hear rattling is because they have so much bays that it literally shakes every part inside of the car... Are you saying fat because one's microphone cannot pick up their amazing bass it means that their bass is bad? Lol
You see that gap under the edge of the sub. Rotate the aluminum beauty ring where the split is at the bottom where the logo is and it will seat perfectly flush with the box. 🔈🎵🎶
@@ABONE1 because this is the 12w7 on at least 1200 watts so it's being pushed to basically max. You have the 13.5 on 1000 watts so it's a bigger sub on less power and it's rated conservatively up to 1500. The 13.5 can take 2k all day on clean signal.

37 here.. they played this disc at my uni when a competition car came to show off in the carpark at one of the uni special events.. nobody cared except me. the 4 x 18" subs were so unmatched with the speakers in the car. It was really weird. It was like the tiny treble and then the bass was so loud I couldn't describe it in terms of volume, it was more like SIZE, you could feel it so much that it felt like the car was surrounded by bass the size of a block of flats.. does that make sense? thats the volume of air you could feel that it displaced
it’s crazy to think that’s how much my w7 will flex once i get a better amp for it. currently running it with a hifonics hfi1500 which is only pushing ~500 watts to it. plan on getting a JL slash 1v3 for it.
ISEE YOU I have owned 2 W 6's and now I'm running 2 W7's I listen to all types of music. rap is probably the least I listen to, I personally think the W7's are better sound quality than the W6's!! It picks up many more bass notes than the W6 and the lows are incredible !!! With the extra excursion it punches even harder! the only thing it doesn't sound good on is heavy metal with the double bass which I don't listen to and if I did, 10" would be the way to go! But I truly feel the W 7 is better sound quality it just seems to hit every bass note with ease ! I still own my W6 12's they don't compare to the W7's the only thing they are better for, is they take less box volume and are cheaper ...

That thing is crying for a ported box. Sounds so much better and is way louder. Tune it to about 26. Plays completely flat from 20-80. Amazing sub in the right box.

I can care less how much bass I have. It's all about quality 👌 Haven't heard too many systems louder than mine, they have all sounded like shit! People care too much about how many watts they are pushing. Wouldn't know a good system if it slapped them in the face.

Me too same thing happened. But I got the w7 13.5 and it's been 4 years I have no issues till this day. I just set the amp to the factory settings in the booklet manual . The way they recommended it. With the 12 I had used the gain at almost max and it brunt out the 12 in 6 months
Sealed box sounds killer you really get what the sub will do without air moving out with a port I use sealed boxes as well with the rite air space and power the sub will perform like it supposed to but killer vid
I’m guessing you’ve based your dimensions off of jl but these w7 actually handle best at 1.0 cubic feet of air space, you can get the center to fold out around the surround with all the pressure, used the same 2 in our boat for 11 years

Nothing wrong with having a cap other than it cost money. His gain could be whatever it needs to be because he could have a low 2v level input which requires him to crank it up. You can't determine his gain by just being over the internet.

Nothing wrong with having a cap other than it cost money. His gain could be whatever it needs to be because he could have a low 2v level input which requires him to crank it up. You can't determine his gain by just being over the internet.

More concerned i would be about the foam on this very old speaker. Mine tore fully round arround because the foam surrounding got brittle after 15 years of use

But then these guys are putting in caps caps because the headlights are dimming, meaning the audio system is pulling so much power away from that charging system that the headlight are showing a visual effects of that.
…. audibly there’s no sags, but maybe the headlights dim, so here’s the reality; if the headlights are dimming and you wanna sell a cap to fix it, why are we putting it on the amp? We should be putting on the headlights because that’s what your actually having a problem with. With the music like Jason said, the cap is on its side and all the water is flowing out constantly, its not doing a damn thing for your audio system.
