- I say this a lot, but I have here one of my favourite drivers. Yes, they are too expensive but they do exactly as advertised - provide lots of power in a small footprint. This is used driver and I had to make some repair to the cone/surround glue joint.

2:23 lol the excursion is crazy
the distortion/THD is also crazy :)
I’m finna blast the naruto sad song in my car now
😂😂😂😂😂 it go hard tho! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
sad and sorrow
Okay,
Song name ?
1:10 it sounds like a motorcycle idling
More like a 4 wheeler
BRC 21 they are no different they both are motors 🤣
JBL DESTROYER say that to any car guy ever
@@BRC21 we aren't talking cars we are talking motorcycles and 4 wheelers. motorcycles and 4 wheelers use very similar motor designs besides some motorcycles can be 2 stroke or 4 stroke. But if we are talking motorcycles and 4 wheelers they have basically the same motor design besides maybe them having 4wd.
JBL DESTROYER they sound different “just saying”
This is the best 8 made ever!
Holy shit that thing is a BEAST!
True
always have loved jl subs they are great
2:32 in the top left corner, "he touch the booty
JORKLES 57 yeh...what does that mean? Subliminal? 😁
I’ve heard people call the speaker magnet the booty
hi there
Oh shit, protogen!
Wow what an amazing subwoofer
Incredible on all levels 👏👏
I love Jl audio not cause its overpriced but cause their stuff is meant to last not like other brands that break in less than a year. Amazing video of what the W7 8 can do even though its in free air wow! Im always sticking with Jl i even ordered 2 w6 10s because i rather have quality in a product.
Them why do tje sorrounds rott away so easily?
@@kaedeschulz5422probably cause they’re made out of foam.
@@TomEllis14so they arent made to last then? I love jl for that though, ive bough so many w7s dirt cheap because of the rotting surrounds and theyre very easy to refoam
I love jl w series subs, clean smooth loud bass. Worth the money. Price for a reason.
You spelled overpriced wrong.....
@@boodecarlo they are definitely worth the money if you like music and not fart noises with rattling
Not gonna lie yes they are expensive but they hella efficient with power you can do a lot with only 600 going to one one of these or bigger versions and they have the perfect balance of lows and loudness
I love jl everything. I'd love to see what they could do with head units. Tons of research and time went into the w7. Innovative when they came out around 2001 ish. 7 new patents. Very musical sub, goes deep smoothly with very little mechanical noise.
Oh jeez that one is a beast
I have 2 13's and the voice coil keeps going out, just got 2 orions about too test them out
now thats a speaker flex
1:11 what a helicopter sounds like
Powered by a real old school crown macrotech, exactly what I like to see.
that flex is mesmerizing
Amazing video. Would be cool of you shot some parts with slowmo... I want to make my own boombox would mind helping with some question and advices?
Woah... That little thing is purely a beast! It's too cute

2:22 omg XD This thing ios Awesome man !
LS&M - Loudspeaker & more what?
Rowyn Official the low bass excursion
where can i get that song from. what version is it
I’ve had the jl w12 and 13 and they are by far the best subs to kick the living shit out of you if you like bass frequency and resonance... I’d like to be able take 23hz and magnify it to a great intensity that when it’s released it sends out a shockwave or causes an earthquake ... next lvl bass 👍👍
What's a w12 and w13, you mean w7 12 and 13?
Andrew Berndt when uno uno 👍
What kind of glue did you use for the surround? My surround came off my Fosgate 10 inch P3. I used krazy glue and it seems to be holding up fine but the stuff you have seems more durable plus you can apply more. The Krazy glue I didn't use much so it wouldn't run onto the cone.
Jim Jones it's a brand of speaker adhesive called Moyen, commonly used by a number of manufacturers. See what you can find available for purchase! I hope that helps you
"I'm the JL w7 8" and retail for a STAGGERING 439 dollars and 95 cents."
"You may see from my stance that my GIGANTIC magnet causes me to have a constant erection"
omg I miss those vids
bassl0va they were brilliant. I wish Richard would make more. But I think his interests have changed
2:22 damn it has some seriens flexing
is it me or does it seem the coil/spider is a bit sagging when its not playing?
I hope thats normal
the scroll when it exits the magnetic field, it warms up, I think it's a watt cemetery!!
So what is the Kippel test with the laser and white dot at the end of the video for? Why does one do it? What information does it provide and what can one do with the information?
The Klippel system can perform an array of measurements. In the clip at the end, it is performing an LSI (Large Signal Identification) which gives an insight into the speaker performance under high power and high excursion loading. It gives the real power values, thermals, suspension compliance linearity, BL linearity and many other graphs. You can use this information to improve and fine tune designs or find out more about competitors products.
WorldsDeepestBass hmmm neat thanks
You're welcome! It's worth looking on klippel.de for more info, they do a far better job at explaining
Just purchased a 13w7 this week
Nice music it was, 'Sadness and Sorrow'.
No sound excursion. Beautiful.
Wow that thing can flex
Hi, I really wanted to know where I can find this song that you used, I've tried looking for more I don't think
Amazing subwoofer. Period.
the question that i always have about these high excursion subs is how long will they last until the spiders or surrounds rip?
surround goes first on these, easy to fix
a lifetime. the JL's foam surround tends to rot away and needs to be replaced every few years if you live in a place with harsh weather conditions and expose the sub to the sun. but if you keep it inside, for an example, your house, you will probably never have to replace the foam surround on it
When the cone starts the for-and- aft motion the voicecoil is most certainly operating outside the gap. Probably has about 12mm of x-max which is good.(30mm length voicecoil and 6mm front plate)
Incorrect, if you look up the specs, it has 19mm Xmax each way. The gap is about 12mm and the coil is around 50mm long
I am thinking of getting one of these for my BMW convertible. I don't really have room for anything larger. I am going to power it off of my JL HD900/5 amplifier. From what I have read this is the best 8" sub you can buy. My question is should I pull the trigger and buy it or is there something better out there I should look at? (by better I mean sounding not just louder)
John Turner Digital designs make a few nice 8s. It depends where you live and what you can order. A Dayton Ultimax 8 might be plenty for you! Let me know what you think!
What music name? Why its 22V shouldnt it be working on 14.4?
Is the chuffing there when the rear pole vent is not blocked?
Rennie Ash nope! It's very clean right up to the mechanical limits
Crazy. Just crazy. But I think someone loves their job.
How long could the surround survive that kind of abuse?
It was rattling like most cars with subs that drive by.
Kept looking at that MacroTech to see if the ODEP light would dim.
1 NYC DJ it never did! Such a beast. And this was only the 602. There was a 3600vz at the other end of the warehouse but I couldn't be bothered to use it on a 250w sub!
Lol, I didn't think it would, I had a few of the 2402's and a couple of 5002vz, never had the ODEP dim on the 5002. They are beastly but weigh a ton, now i have a rack full of the XTi 6002.
1 NYC DJ very nice :) I wonder how the 6002s stack up to the old skool power?
From experience, the 6002's out perform the 5002 in every way. It's slightly more powerful and weighs far less and the power draw is lower, I run 4 6002's and 2 4002 off 2 20 amp circuits and runs fine, i tried the same with the 2402 and 5002 and would constantly trip the breakers. The 6002's are the same design as the i-Techs but the 4002's are class AB with a switching power supply. czcams.com/video/iJq5Z-DpO3s/video.html
Which music you used?
What model amplifier are you use for this driver and name amp
I ask for a skinte name or the song itself about naruto that played there is nowhere just this I can not find other speed fast for the song and all help
Do you think the Alpine HDA M80 which is 800w at 2 Ohms to much for this 8w7? At 14.4v it should be 650w at 3 Ohms and probably around 500w at 12.5v 3 Ohms.
No, that sounds like the perfect pairing to be honest. You always want a few hundred watts of headroom in the amplifier to prevent sending a clipped/distorted signal to the woofer during peaks in music
@@wdbaudio What about the 10w7? Too little? I hover at around 13.8 - 14v for now.
2:08 musica do naruto 😂😂
Kkkkk sim

del narukami equisde
kkkkkk
Put that thing in a properly ported enclosure and play Bass 305, Techmaster P.E.B. or DJ Magic Mike and listen to the magic that thing produces. WOW!
This looks like a high quality design, on some videos you can see off axis movement on drivers; but not on this, which is pretty remarkable considering the massive excursion.
Wow, what Camera are you using?
Not going to lie when you first started it, I was watching the dot in the middle and went crossed eyes so I had to look away. That's a bad ads sub. There is no telling what it would sound like inside a box.
What amplifier did u use?
That thing is a beast for sure. The amount of excursion is amazing for it's small size. That being said, is that a crack on the basket I see? Reconed?
It certainly is! If you're referring to the line on the silver ring near the surround, that's the clamping mechanism used to hold the surround in place
WorldsDeepestBass Oh yeah! I forgot that those subs have that! Thanks
A crack on the ring 🤣🤣you must never owned a JL those subs are so strange when I first got my ho wedge W7 ported box I didn't even know how they screwed the speaker in for about a week😁👍
How do you screw this sub into a box if there are no screw holes around it?
The screw holes are under the surround. You access them by removing the silver trim ring which allows you to lift the surround and screw the sub in. There might be better pictures to explain on Google!
WorldsDeepestBass nice, thanks for the response
Smart idea useing a sound card, your right forgotten about that.
Ferrite magnet?
And that just one of them . Wow
When Naruto meets JL Audio
YES
When naruto meets sundown or psi car audio
@@stunttiseis2672 i wouder what it would sound like on my pa dual 18inch subwoofer tbh no cap
Beauty the music hadn't even started the sound tremendous
That is great. What is the name of the sound track
What's with the CA on the cone by the surround? You blow the surround and have to put a new one on?
I seen that also.
I think it's crazy how the 8" subs are so robust compared to say a 12 with the same model if they made 12 the same way the 12 would pound hard than hell. Not saying they don't but could imagine how much it would do
Unlike most manufacturers, JL designs each motor structure to match the woofer size. That is to say, something like a 13W7 uses a comparatively larger motor than a 12W7 to account for the added cone mass of a 13.5" driver opposed to a 12"
Look at something like a Sundown X series woofer. The 8 and 10 have these insanely huge magnet/motor structures, the 12 has a pretty big motor, the 15 has a decent size motor, but the 18 just looks like a joke compared to the rest of the lineup. They all use the same magnet/motor across the board, which helps to save on cost. The Sundown 10 is only $600 USD whereas a 10W7 is $1000 USD. Is the JL too expensive, or is the Sundown just cheap? Perhaps a bit of both. JL are also designed as SQ subs first, but they can be loud if you want. The Sundown is just meant to be loud as hell (and they do a very good job at that)
This is partly why JL subs are more expensive than their competitors; every woofer is (kinda) built from the ground up to be the best it can be for that particular driver size. And as another commenter pointed out, they just don't break (when used responsibly/reasonably/as intended)
Call me a fanboy, but I'll always use JL. Currently putting together a big and loud (for JL) system in a 2006 GTI with 6x 13W3v3 powered by a trio of XD1000s. I'm sure it'll make quite a bit of racket, but I also know it would get smoked by 6x Sundown 12s, and I'm ok with that ;)
@@blendtecbrah5761 I can't possibly imagine why you'd be okay with spending twice as much money to get outperformed by some guy with 6 sundown lmao 🤷 to each their own but dollar to Db is the only ratio that matters to me. And you "sound quality" sub is just you keeping it within its limits.
I can build a "sound quality" sundown setup just by underpowered everything lmao. You CANNOT explain what makes a jl subwoofer a sound quality sub while sundown is a spl sub. You can't describe the parts and effects they have on the ability to recreate each frequency compared to other parts. No one ever has, and you ain't about to lol you sql sub is a scam buddy, sorry your pockets fell so deep
@@RandoManFPV Hey man, don't be so hard on yourself. If you work really really hard, maybe you'll be able to afford some W7s one day ;)
@@blendtecbrah5761 lol I don't work bro 🤣🙃 it's river floating beer and joints everyday around here haha.
I'd just rather drown myself than spend 1000$ on a 400$ product lmao
@@blendtecbrah5761 see cuz I can prove that you can get louder speakers that hit just as low for muuuuuch cheaper. Easily
Now can you prove that this w7 has better "sound quality"???
So can you prove why this sub is worth the higher price???
Sounds like you just enjoy shitting ignorantly all over money to me bruh
Witch website we buy this speaker in india?
I just got the 10w7 and it's louder and and 10x cleaner than my old sundown 15 at less power
Andrew Berndt nice! That really doesn't surprise me. Sundowns aren't built for SQ and I find their designs quite lazy
My 10 w7 used was 200 in a ho box best sub ever bought fits most vehicles
The 10w7ae has significantly less come area (less than 1/2) and less db sensetivity. Either your sundown box was really shitty or you're lying.
@@akassasin5768 nahh sundown is good for the price but it isnt anywhere near JL W7 i had tw3 12s and sounded way better than some sundown SAs and X10s yea they’re loud but they are just sound makers they cant hit every frequency properly ohhh and JL LASTS a life time😅goodluck achieving that with sundown you will replace them every year or so and that is more expensive in the long run
Plays thus think music or ist ist only vor the Bass?
The music is came from naruto them? right?
шикарный динамик...
OMG TEST NARUTO TANK YOU MAN : )
Crazy speaker ... 👍👍

How hot does the VC get during those extreme excursions!?
Ryan Christensen not very hot. In free air this is only getting about 100w
What tool do I buy to measure the amplifiers “rated output”
NOTORIOUS FILMS there are several ways, but if you want a self contained, easy to use product, look at the D'amore engineering AD-1

Love my 10w7
1.05 sounded like an engine starting
what kind of amp is he using to power the sub?
max fiehrer crown macrotech 2402
It moves like that because it has extra boost from the magnet of the speaker😂 just kidding👍💪
0:40 hek that’s a lot of bass XD

Yes

Looks like it was rebuilt, but a step was missed. Foam goes between the upper and lower cone.
I can absolutely assure you that foam does not go between upper and lower cone. Most. Drivers do not have an upper cone anyway, it's just a large dustcap
Yes, most drivers don't, but these do, and the foam mounts between them to give a clean look.
@@Cronus_1 it doesn't. Before I added more glue, the foam was sat on top of the cone. It might be slightly different for the larger versions but not the 8
