A little update on my STW-350F, since I'm rewiring the enclosure. Playing 20Hz so show close to the maximum excursion capability. Definitely pushed the little Yamaha P2500S into clipping a bit. Some more Tymphany STW love for you in the form of infrasonic rumbles from the film Interstellar (2014). There are some excellent parts for testing subwoofers; including the rocket launch scene. Pioneer SWM1032 Linear Power 'AJet' Edgeless Woofer - Excursion Testing

Finally got my hands on some Pioneer Linear Power woofers from a pair of S-P460 loudspeakers. They are quite hard to find in my experience. The design is very unique, using two spaced spiders as the suspension, with a small foam gasket surrounding the lower edge of the cone to seal the driver inside the enclosure. A very interesting subwoofer driver made by Sony. It has two massive voice coils on separate ends of the former, and two spiders. While the mechanical noise is quite high, this is to be expected given how small the vent on the back is, and is inaudible in the enclosure. U need lots of power for 20hz down ok so thats why it needs to be 3500 rms. U can use 1000 watt amp and still achiever at leaat 115 db at 20hz

Hell yea man! It's much harder to make smaller driver's move a lot because of mich less space for huge suspension so it's seriously impressive! When i see a 12inch with 15mm Xmax i'm like "yea whatever nothing new". On the other hand when i see a 6,5inch woofer with similar Xmax that really get's me like "what the heelll!?"

is it possible to remove aluminum cover ? my PV1s one of driver seems detached from the cone and makes weird noises and stops when i try to put my finger while playing. Can I remove it completely or reapply ?

This video is a little old, but B&W uses a similar suspension, just for midrange. And about the very clean sound, this is due to the magnetic field being more linear, because instead of the coil being bigger than the pole piece, the pole piece is bigger than the coil. But it's worth remembering that it's up to the designer to know which type of magnetic field is best for the speaker.
