@@rashaunbrand8022 sundown audio, dd audio, DC audio etc top of the line aren’t cheap either. This is top of the line JL sub. Any top of the line sub from any respectable mfr will be priced accordingly.

I went to multiple car shows, heard lots of setups. Had Incriminator LI12s, Alpine X, JLW3, Pioneer, Kicker..
I went w/ the 10W7s b/c for me & my needs is a great/ amazing sub. Im a little bias but paid full price for mine.. There in a 3.0 cube 6” aero ported box tuned to 30Hz on a Zapco Z2KDII.. ( 2k Rms 1 ohm ) & Love mine👍💕
I run a SQ based system tho w/ Audiofrog GB60 & GB15 speaers on a Zapco AP 150.4 amp. All speakers actively amplified fed from a Helix DSP.3 via digital audio HEC USB audio card.
No need to brand bash tho we all love bass no matter the brand! Take care💪🔊

I'm running a single 8 W7 in a 1 cube slot port tuned to 35 hz and sounds soooo good while moving lots of air. It has 19mm of excursion which is a ton for the size.

The Thunder from down under. 8's are my favorite size woofers, especially these days because the technology is so good now that you can get huge sound out of them and you can fit a lot of them in if you want. Awesome stuff man. Are you gonna put more of those in there?

I had 2 JL8W7's that hit 153.8dB back when they 1st came out. They were pretty badass for 8's. Blew everyone away when I opened up the back of the truck and they didn't see 4 15's lol.

He took 2nd at db drag nationals with a 150.9 .. and term labed a 146.47 @17 hz at MECA..

Looks like you still get that distortion from the car no matter what you do at this level of power. My rear window and ceiling vibrate like crazy and I don’t think even sound deadner would fix it. Help? Yea. But it would still be very noticeable.

1500-2000 rms. It also depends on the hz. It takes more power to hit the lows.

2 12s / 15s tuned 28 Hz -30 Hz aero port box or big port area slot port facing forward firing into cabin w/ fold down seats on a 3k to 5k amp.
If seats don’t fold down it will def make it a lot harder. And subs will fire to rear then & it will be vehicle frequency & enclosure specific.

@@haydenhardy5513 Glad you enjoy my videos thanks for watching. 90% of low end bass is in the box, then subwoofer. I would have to guess it's about box placement, port location/area/depth, cubic space optimized, and cabin resonance plays a key part. It's a lot of testing/tuning.

I’m always amazed that JL has managed to stay in business all these years. Fortunately for them, they only need to convince 5 people a year that they’re not getting hosed in order to be able to make payroll. I’m also a fan of former JL fans once they realize they can get 4 12’s fir the price of 2 JL 13’s, and instead of paying 1100 for a thousand watt JL amp, they can get a 3-5k amp of another brand that blows their stuff out of the water. They make a great product no doubt, unfortunately for what they charge vs what you’re getting, they the worst in the biz. Or best, depending on how you look at it! lol
Idk man.. im currently running a Sundown x15 on 3k watts and I still miss my 12W7. That thing hit soooo clean and hard. Overpriced as you said, but their quality is top tier

4 cylinder engines today put out twice the horsepower and use half the fuel of a engine the same size from the 1990’s….. it’s called being efficient or we would still have carburetors on our cars…… JL Audio is the modern fuel efficient car and the shit you got is a carbureted car from the 70’s…..

@@Rah-know that’s actually incorrect. The first few systems I had were all JL. Subs and amps, including w7’s. Compare a W7 13 to a DC level 6 ( 12 ). There’s about a hundred dollar difference in price and tell me which one sounds like it’s missing something. I love JL and always will. Unfortunately though, there’s other products in the same price range that far surpasses their efficiency and overall performance

You buy high powered subs, you need the electrical to support it, so your spending way more to get shitty sounding loud burp bass……

@@Rah-know well if you compare the w7’s to any other “ American made “ sub in the same price range, there’s no comparison. The sub I mentioned above is about a hundred dollars more than the dub 7’s so they should be equal, correct? The problem with jl is, they have their main consumers believing based off their prices that they’re getting a premium product that’s unsurpassed in sound and quality. If you’re spending a thousand dollars for a thousand watt sub, you’re not looking for a plug and play system. You’re looking for a competition grade sub and amp, which you’re not getting with that. There’s a reason why you rarely see JL at any of the DB drag shows. Because if you wanted to complete with another 25-50k watt system, you’d have to spend 90 k just on equipment to 15-20 of one of the other elite brands. People buy JL because they like flexing and telling people they paid a thousand for the sub, please tell me what secret technology they have in their subs that no other company on the market has knowledge of that justifies that price point?
