I just can’t wait Sister Lisa’s reaction when they get to the Philippines. When she see the country, the markets, malls, beach, how to cook different filipino foods with veggies, soups, seafoods and more!! I just love to see her family enjoy being in the islands, eating the foods that they haven’t seen in their whole life. The sweet mangoes that only in the Philippines have offered. I love to see them eat every kind and type of Filipino foods of the different regions of the Philippines! I hope their visit will be longer, safer, healthier so they can really enjoy everything the Philippines offered to them. God bless everyone!!🇵🇭🫶🏻🇷🇺 Andrei, that ginataang shrimps looks very yummy!! Good job cooking it Sister Lisa and Mama Olga!!👍

Try cooking garlic butter shrimp also. It’s simple and easy to do. Main ingredients are only sprite or any lime soda, lots of garlic and butter. Everybody will love it and ask for more. You only sautéed lots of minced garlic 🧄 and onions 🧅 ( optional ) using unsalted butter then add the shrimp on medium fire, add your freshly ground black pepper then add sprite. Just calculate the amount enough to soak the shrimps. Let it absorb while constantly stirring the shrimps. You can add a little fish or shrimp sauce for more added taste. When it’s almost absorbed, add butter and continuously stir fry ‘till the color is totally red. It means, the shrimp 🦐 is cooked already then served to eat with rice. You can garnish it with green onions on top or parsley for aesthetic purpose and aroma. Sprinkle with squeezed lemon 🍋 also. Remember not to over fry the shrimps so the texture will not be rubbery but just stir fry it quickly. Make a dipping sauce of a spicy vinegar with onions, garlic and ground pepper. It’s an easy shrimp dish and delicious to eat. If you don’t have spicy vinegar, use tartar sauce instead. Hope Liza and mama Olga will try to cook it next time.

You should put the shrimp before the coconut first. When shrimps turn pink or orange, then you put the coconut. Also if ginger is included as that is seafood, the sequence should be ginger first, garlic (should turn slightly brown) then the onions ( should turn transparent) then the shrimp.

@Filipinez : Some cooking MISTAKES: sautee first the GARLIC. When garlic turns brown, then the ONION... Then, the SHRIMPS so it will be cooked thoroughly. Then put a little water to cook hipon thoroughly. Then the rest of your vegetables, if you have. I suggest you can add a little squash, string beans and diced eggplant. Then your GATA, your salt, your patis... Let it boil completely to thoroughly cook everything.

Please use the mortar and pestle by gently pounding the spices first. You can use one hand to cover the top so the spices don’t fly everywhere 😅. Squash is also good in ginataang hipon 👌. Also makes it especially tasty is using shrimp with heads (optional) 😊. To make coconut milk shrimp curry is also a common Filipino dish. Just add curry spice to the sauce and it’s ochen kussna!

Here’s a Filipino dish called “Ginataang Gulay” (vegetables cooked in COCONUT MILK).
Here is my recipe for it:
    VEGGIES:
    Pumpkin (Kalabasa)
    Green Beans (sitaw)
    Eggplant
    Okra*
    Bitter melon **

I usually add slices of pork to “flavor” the veggies. I also use shrimp for this dish.

Seasoning: Patis (Fish sauce) or Shrimp paste
    DIRECTIONS:
Rinse your veggies and cut them to bite size pieces (but not too small that they will disintegrate into the sauce).
In a pan, saute Garlic and Onion until golden brown. Add your pork and continue to saute until meat is cooked. Add water if needed to fully cook the meat.
Next, add your VEGGIES, stir to mix for about 1 minute. Pumpkin and Green beans goes in first and cook for about 3 minutes.
Add the COCONUT milk and stir to mix. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the VEGGIES are cooked to your liking - medium or well done (soft).
NOTE: If you are using Shrimp, it should be added almost at the end of the cooking process. Why? Shrimp, when OVERCOOKED, becomes “rubbery.”
After adding the SHRIMP, stir to mix with the veggies. Once the SHRIMP starts to turn “PINK” in color, the SHRIMP is done and you can turn off the heat or take the pot off the heat and give it another stir or mix. The SHRIMP will continue to “cook” in the residual heat of the dish.
(*) (**) I’m not sure if you have these veggies in Russia.
