MESBG Battle report - Dark Denizens of Mirkwood LL vs Halls of Thranduil

- The battle for Mirkwood heats up, probably one of our most swingy battle reports yet. Will it be a repeat of the first battle reports we filmed on channel where Jareks Thranduils Halls gave Jeffs orcs a thrashing for touching his wine. Or will the orcs manage to make away with it this time!
It was in this moment, when all hope had faded, that ‘a Mirkwood spider’, son of the queen, took up his mothers web. And Thranduil, enemy of the free spiders of Middle-Earth, was defeated.

Another thematic and fantastically set up board. Beautiful. I love how deployment and movement is done with a static camera and sped up, but the rest of it is from a hand-held camera. Awesome format. My favorite MESBG channel!

Just got into 40k and now after watching this i want to go for some LOTR, great video guys subbed and looking forward to more videos!
Btw you probably awnserd this a million times but where did you get your battle mat? They seem to be kinda rough to find in Australia
It's a great system mate! We love our LOTR! They are tough to find! Most of them have been by luck if I'm honest mate. Just being on the right website at the right time!

Great game, love how murdery that legion is. This weekend at least three players taking it so I'm a little concerned! If an elf shields, do they get the elven blade bonus of winning on a 3+?
Not normally mate, but Mirkwood elves with Glaive can shield with it so they do!

Hey mate! They are 3D prints! needed a few more extra sword and shield guys for my lists so I got a couple 3d printed!

Now evil has some very killy legions, do you reckon a five armies theme is better than pure thranduils halls? I'm thinking to mix lake town with mirkwood, or erebor with mirkwood
I think they still have play in the pure form mate, but the alliances can be super strong once you work out how to get the most out of each contingent. Let us know how you get on!

@40:32 I'm pretty sure the was a very specific errata/faq rule that when you're shielding you don't count as using an elven - made weapon
Hey mate, if it's a glaive then they get the Elven made weapon, but if its a sheild they don't
I'm a little late to the party, but that was a very entertaining game. I love that the Spider Queen was killed by Thranduil and one of her underlings went bat s*it crazy and paralyzed him. ha!
I'm planning on bringing the FBoMW to a 600 pt tournament in a few weeks, I hope my MW Spiders keep throwing those 6's with their webs!

@@W.A.R.G 2 minor wins, 1 major. 1st Place yesterday! FBoMW is a fun and pretty strong army. I only got to face 1 elf. Alas, poor Legolas, he was eaten simultaneously by a Spider and very salty Warg.

Pretty sure the Spider Queen spent 4 might thuis game, when she called a Heroic Combat early on she had to spend a might point to win the combat, similar to Tauriel earlier in the turn, then she called 2 more Heroic Combats later on, and at 37:40 spent another night point to win the combat, that’s 4 might you cheater Jeff!
Hey mate, through the course of the game she spent 2 points of might to modify dice rolls and 1 heroic combat, she used a few brutal power attacks including that nasty hurl early on. What i cant defend is playing her as a 3 attack model (for which I've profusely apologized to Jarek and handed him the morale victory).

Edit: Nevermind, you never called a heroic combat in that first fight phase, nevermind me, I’m just being silly!
At 26:54 you call a heroic combat with the Spider Queen and say “2nd point of might” when that is in fact already the third point of might due to having had to use might to win the first heroic combat.
Didn’t even realize you’d been cheating in attacks as well though, double cheater!
I bet my Money on mirkwood... 🤥
