    Thanks for giving the Maxima some love! I'm a Mechanical Engineer that's owned a '16 SV since new. It's been a perfect car (for me). Not one issue with this car and I now have 127K miles. Still pulls like a train! Yes, the turning radius sucks. Great review!...(BTW people-change that CVT fluid at least every 60K miles).

    This car really deserved the last generation 370Z powertrain to do it justice. $47K w/ Jatco CVT history and no other transmission option. No way! I feel bad for those who are going to get dealer conned into about 7 years of $600+ payments on a vehicle Nissan gave up on years ago. Commenting as a current Nissan owner.

    I have always liked the Maxima. It's a shame it is going away. I can't help but think a 8 or 9 speed transmission would have improved sales. We are now going to have to watch the Honda Accord die a slow CVT death. As it no longer offers the automatic.

    • @WTFCRLT1
      @WTFCRLT1  Před rokem +3

      Agreed man the cvts don’t feel as weird now since most have ratios, but it’s still a better driving experience with a conventional transmission.

      Well the new 11th gen accord has a E-CVT on higher trims. 😳 it essentially has no transmission. But lower trims with the crappy 1.5 have a traditional cvt 🤮🤮

    • @TheLaw_11
      @TheLaw_11 Před rokem +3

      Did you create an economic model to draw the conclusion that sales would have improved if it had an automatic transmission and not a CVT? Have you actually studied that in great detail? I'm pretty sure Maxima sales decline, if any, has to do with sedans being less desirable these days. The INFINITI Q50 has a 7 speed automatic transmission and saw it's sales volume decline. So your reasoning isnt valid.

    • @PLATINUM2U
      @PLATINUM2U Před rokem +3

      @@TheLaw_11meh. The q50 no matter how much you pay for one never offered cooled seats. That's where many buyers went the maxima route because they didn't want to buy a luxury badge but not have all of the amenities the parent company offered. Which is Nissan.

    I love everything about my Platinum 2020 except for the feeling of the CVT. If does pull well but I prefer a standard transmission. That being said, it is great daily driver, I did add a Stillen Rear Sway bar and two sways upfront to keep the understeer down which has made a great difference. The other day I drove a $73K Genesis G80 Sport and I think my Maxima drove my solid than the G80. Neither are true sport cars. If the Nissan would have added a rear drive to this the maxima or may AWD and a True 8 Speed transmission with A turbo Charged V-6, This would be one of the best cars out there but it will be to close to to the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport.

      Don’t. I had a 2017 Maxima Platinum bought brand new. Nice car crappy transmission and unreliable long term. We had a few expensive things go out covered under warranty. $6k plus work done on it under warranty the couple years we had it. One day the transmission jerked really bad and threw us back in the seat. We got rid of it 2 weeks later for a 21 Accord Touring. Bought brand new as well. The Accord has been excellent and no regrets. Fantastic car and now that Honda is discontinuing the 2.0t with the 10 speed. More reason to keep it. It’s also faster then this Maxima and the Maxima is no slouch. Even though it has that CVT and being held back because of it. You can tell and feel that powertrain has more to give. Just can’t though with that CVT attached to it. Hold onto that 22 Touring until the wheels fall off! They are rare as Honda did not make many of them. Let alone with the 2.0t as well.
