    The chinese scooters got me into wrenching and learning about mechanichal stuff. The one with the most miles with a original engine i currently have is a daily driver to and from work and it has 13 k miles and it runs great still but its like you said if you take care of it it will take care of you.I have owned like 20 of these things now and 6 at the same time. Its an addiction i have a problem....help.
    Nah but honestly. They are a lot of fun. Cheap and easy to work on and if they crap out completly just get another engine.

    love the vid but aint the rear brake quite simple its just take off the rear wheel off and the the brake cable i mean it took me about 15 min once i got the wheel off well after a quick yt vid lol

    • @IFixShet
      @IFixShet  Před 28 dny

      Yes but what I'm trying to emphasize on here is this video is for beginners they're not going to want to go through that entire process my job is to simplify the information for them so that they can avoid having to do these things. The front brakes are just in reality a lot simpler to resolve than the rear brakes a lot of these people at their house do not have the proper tools to remove tires and things like that the front brakes only require a basic tool set

    About the fuel, what if you have a EFI fuel injected not a normal carburetor.

    • @IFixShet
      @IFixShet  Před 15 dny +1

      The only difference is you're going to be using ethanol free fuel, all of the rest of the maintenance will still apply. If you have tappet valves they need to be adjusted at certain intervals and your oil change is pretty normal every 1000 miles there's not too many differences

    • @maskmite1
      @maskmite1 Před 15 dny +1

      Ok I drive mine 60 miles a day round trip to work. So I will be changing my oil every 3 to 4 weeks.

    you forgot the most important thing... Dont buy one if your not prepared to work on it yourself. no shop will work on them due to random reasons. I've had 3 atm50s and no one would work on them.

    • @IFixShet
      @IFixShet  Před 28 dny

      I covered this in the video. I explained that after you purchase basically there's no shops that will work on Chinese scooters you'll be going on CZcams to search and do everything for yourself I did cover that...

  • @dantickle5562
    @dantickle5562 Před 29 dny +1

    Mine calls for 15-40 in the transmission, but it sounds weird, even for the engine which definitely sounds crazy. I'm not riding a diesel. I'll use mobile t4 synthetic, but don't know about the transmission.

    • @IFixShet
      @IFixShet  Před 29 dny

      Normally you can use GL3 up through GL5 on scooters without issue

    • @IFixShet
      @IFixShet  Před 29 dny

      Be careful with some synthetic based oils especially in the engine they can break down the cheap gaskets with all the detergents that they use. Lucas products are tried and true with almost every engine on the planet to not hurt gaskets or seals.

    Bought my scooter used, its a 2019, upgraded to 100cc to help with uphills, got 2500+ miles so far and it runs well, no issues...Great information, what's your take on adding a carb cleaner once in awhile? And thank you for the ethanol free gas tip!

    • @IFixShet
      @IFixShet  Před 28 dny +1

      There's no point to adding carb cleaner it won't do anything except for cause all the rubbers and gaskets inside of the carburetor to swell which is not good.

  • @GY6ScooterAdventures-be2oe

    Another great video, Thanks. I bought a new Chinese scooter so that way I know how the scooter was treated. Thanks to the youtube how to videos for helping me work on it myself. My scoot is a 168cc with a 161QMK motor. I know the place I ordered it from has replacement body parts but who knows how long they will have them in stock, especially if they discontinue that scooter. I know they are asking $400 just for the motor. Anyhow, I have only been running non ethanol fuel and have had no problems so far, even after sitting all winter. I did discover a couple openings (one square cut out) on the bottom of the cvt case, I am guessing to get more air, although I don't think it would be good to get dirt, rocks or water up in there, right? I am not looking forward to working on the rear brakes when the time comes, I hate working on breaks! 😆

    • @IFixShet
      @IFixShet  Před 29 dny +1

      The aircut in the rear of the CVT that you're talking about actually has a snail form before it enters the case meaning there's a big couple of Loops in the metal to keep debris from flying up it is there for two reasons to hopefully take clutch damage and get it out of the case as well as belt Shred and Worn Parts it has to have somewhere to go. It also allows a ventilation spot for heat that is created because you'll notice the variator has a fan on it so when it spins it's freely moving air allowing heat to disperse out of the rear of the CVT through the snail wind.

    • @IFixShet

      Before you upgrade your motor I would suggest upgrading your CVT package a lot of times what you're looking for can be easily achieved with a few simple adjustments to the CVT

    Great vid thanks for the advice on rear brakes i have been using rear brakes on all my bikes most of my life to prevent the front lockinh up from overheating.
    What is the knocking noise on acceleration? From the side not the engine if I back of the throttle and it goes away i normally never full throttle acclerate but on occasion I hear it ? Thinking its the cvt?

    • @IFixShet
      @IFixShet  Před 29 dny

      It's hard to diagnose knocking without hearing it run myself I don't want to point you in a weird Direction without actually hearing what the scooter is doing

      @@IFixShet okay I ended buying it from a guy before he died, he actually died before I bought but he wanted me to have it so I bought it from his son, we crunk it up, but never got around to letting it idle or anything, I tried cranking it up like a month ago but it only spun but wouldn’t crank, I’ve replaced the air box n fuel filter, & bought new spark plugs, had a couple of guys look at but most of them said they didn’t work on carbureted bikes, I been watching your videos on to get a estimate on what I’d need but honestly I’m not an mechanic
