This episode was weird to watch the first time, but damn, the Poufgasm makes for one of the best parts of reaction series to this show

I still hate this part lel. It's excessive. I understand that that's the point, but it goes on for so God damn long.
"Ou" is the japanese word for "King; Ruler; Monarch; Sovereign" so it's not "Your Majesty" but they took some artistic liberty in the translation and it fits the same notes.
Yea, the subs for the Bluray took a lot of artistic liberties. A lot of words have been changed from the original subs for some reason, it still holds sort of the same meaning for the most part but it just threw me for a loop.

All translation needs to take some sort of artistic liberty so it doesn't sound incredibly weird in whatever language it's being translated into. Not saying you're denying that, but thought it was worth mentioning! A 'true translation' doesn't really exist

You can really see in this episode how much pouf had a character development. Compared to youpi and pitou who only order the king and protect him Pouf is really doing everything he can to get the old king back and not respecting meruem. Almost doing it out of selfishness which is something the royal guards would never even have thought.
well as many people say .. Pitou and Youpi serve Meruem, Pouf serves the king ^^

netero isn't the strongest anymore rana, he was at some point
Well, kind of...Netero mentioned he was no longer the strongest but we haven't seen anyone even nearly as strong as him in the series and in the manga so far (yes there are characters still who's power is not shown yet like Ging, Beyond, etc). Even in his age Netero was insanely strong.
@@ThisIsToXiN Isaac? You mean Beyond? Anyway, I think the only hunter shown in the series so far who is probably stronger than Netero is Ging.
Just because Netero said he wasn't the strongest doesn't mean he wasn't. First of all, that was Netero pre-meditation, and the meditation allowed him to bring back a lot more strength back than his normal self. Additionally, Netero is known to downplay his abilities. He said that Knov and Morel were on his level, when that clearly isn't the case.
People should stop thinking that just because a character says something, it must be true (IMO). It takes away from their personalities which make them say these things.
I'm not even saying Netero is the strongest up and till the point he died, but I'm just saying just because he said it at one point (pre-meditation) then he must be a perfectly reliable narrator.
Until there are certain evidence someone is actually stronger than netero, he is still the strongest human ever. All this talk about Ging, Beyond etc. none have so far shown any of the supposed strength that surpassed netero
I mean tbh the only charecter at this point in the show that we’ve been introduced to that might be close to or stronger then netero is ging

I always thought it was interesting that the royal guards are seemingly made to be fed to the King to save/enhance him, much like the Androids were made to be absorbed by Cell (Who Mereum seems very much like in appearance)

"Ou" means king in japanese. usually its said fully as "Ou-sama" because sama is the honorific used for someone of much higher status than you. the guards probably leave off the sama due to how close their bond is to him

Netero was, at one point, the strongest, but he said back when they first arrived at NGL that it had been 50 years since he had been the strongest Nen user in the Hunter Association. He is crazy powerful, but you'll get more from it.
And Knuckle punching the clone still activates Chapter 7 because Pouf's clones are a part of him still, so it's like punching his arm from miles away

How much nen aura you have doesn't really matter, nen ability and how its used all count towards how strong you are, theres no real way to measure who's the "strongest", but in the lore of the show, Netero was considered one of the strongest , which its how they usually rank fighters in hxh, by using other character's opinions
How much aura a character have totally matters. I mean, you can win a fight by stalling in HxH, so if the opponent have an overwhelming amount of aura it will change the course of the entire fight and the way you should focus on it (even if it isn't the only important factor)

Yeah I mean just look at Kurapika, because of how his hatsu works if the strongest person in universe happened to be part of the phantom troupe he could probably still beat them, I bet if they found some way to convince meruem to join the troupe Kurapika could beat him. Hell judgement chain is OP as fuck if it weren't for nen exorcists, Kurapika could technically use judgement chain on Meruem and make it so if Meruem ever kills someone he'll die or some shit.

Remember back when they first infiltrated NGL he said that it's been about 20 or 50 yrs (can't remember the exact number of years but it was several decades) since he was the strongest Nen user and that his strength is now less than half of what it used to be. He's about on par with Morel and Knov now, according to him that is.
that was him clearly lying about him being close to knov and morell they would stand no chance against 99 hands and remember curent neteri has more experience

I like a lot of the scenes that come as a result of Meruem's revival, but yeah, on first viewing it feels VERY anticlimactic for Netero's fight. It gets resolved well, but I can't blame anyone for feeling that it's an ass-pull.

@@rewrose2838 oh I see. I do understand where he's coming from tho, if that truly is what he thinks. Yes they are both weapons but one is a weapon an opponent is aware of while the other is not. They are both valid strategies imo, whether one feels underhanded or not just depends on what moral/belief system you subscribe to. My definition of an underhanded tactic would be getting an opponent's loved one or an innovent involved, which isn't the case here so I personally have no problem with it given the circumstances.

i like how gon doesn’t come up in the list of characters that might be able to take him down cus that’s jus the way the show us written. The main character can’t possibly take down the antagonist.
For me, I don't like zoom-in faces when one of the reactors just experienced 'shooketh' from the video they watched. It misses us(the viewers) the chance to see what other reactors are reacting! "Ou" is also an honorific they attach to words or titles to make them more formal. Like "honorable". Ou, has a significance really beyond english definition. Depending on how you say it, or enunciate it.

Like I never understood who would want that. They weren’t equal to him at all.
I never really liked the scene of Pouf and Youpi feeding Meruem. It was way too long and way too dramatic.
Neither did I, on a superficial level, but I do find the scene hilarious. Its similar to how I feel about Hisoka's bloodlust/pleasure towards strong opponents. Extemely awkward yet hilarious.
But I do understand its overall purpose. Its overly dramatic just to emphasize just how important the King is to their race. That they would go that far just ensure his survival, resort to cannibalism.
Definitely the cringiest episode.
Some of those, kinda drive me out of HxH.
