Pitou's arc is that she gets more empathetic as the show goes on and learns to feel for others and respect their feelings (at least a little bit), but her loyalty to the king is still paramount to her and takes precedence over everything else.
Kinda like Youpi learning to think for himself and respect his opponents enough to spare them, even if his loyalty to the king is still most important to him.
Maybe the ants could have kept evolving as people and become proper, functioning and empathetic people over time, they are only a few months old at this point lol.

@@Uglyweezer No longer. In their awakening they are almost wild but the more time passes and the more they learn the chimeras develop emotional responses. Seeing Meruen's reaction to a defenseless being Pitou aroused her empathy. Her instinct morphed into genuine, almost maternal concern.
If it was the first version we knew of Pitou, she would've ripped Gon's head off as soon as she got the call. Instead she took the time to telling him the truth and asking for forgiveness. She dedicated every last moment of her life to keeping Meruem safe and died relieved that Gon did not lay a finger on him.
Your Faithless Friend Pitou makes me feel most out of the three guards. I dig all of their development but Pitou’s growing empathy was amazing to see, made 131 even sadder.

In my opinion, watching first the Episode 1 of 1999's HxH(or at the very least, watching the whole version of 1999HxH), connects me to the emotion that Gon had in this 130ep. Honestly, I don't understand why the director of 2011's HxH didn't include Kite from the very first of its episode. Manga HxH does have Kite in it from the very first of its page! Meaning, Kite was the very first character that has been drawn and introduced for the readers by Togashi himself! Kite being not included in the first episode of its anime adaptation, is a big insult to the author himself. One of the things for sure 2011's HxH misses the point.
Yeah, it really takes away from the emotional connection we were supposed to have this character. It was supposed to of been like seeing a really old friend dying in front of us, just like it was for Gon...

i must say.... im very proud of Nahid for defending and understanding (even if not completly) Pitou in this episode. A lot of People just don't get the development she went through.

Pouf’s really an amazing villain and he has insane abilities.
Agreed he really fills the role as the true antagonist in this arc. A lot of people that watch this show don’t show appreciation to what he represents in the show. Pouf represents the true nature and loyalty to the Ants as a species. His fears throughout this arc for the King made sense in his perspective as a royal guard. The king gaining remorse for humans would lead to the downfall of ants as a superior species.
Nahid's continued love for Welfin will be worth it.

You guys need to understand that Pitou is only like 2 months old. So You really can't condemn a baby. Its just doing what its instincts say but at this point in its life. Pitou is starting to gain complex emotions. So it isn't strange for it to start regretting some of its earlier actions.
I'd argue/guess she's probably closer to a teenager. Can't use human-time (/standards) to dictate her maturity.
@@rinkusan978 well I technically wasn't using human-time because at 2months a human baby is still a baby. So what I'm trying to say is that when an ant is born, it seems to operate on 100% instinct. However as time goes on they rely less on instinct and more on emotion.

If I'm not mistaken this is the only time throughout this arc that we hear gons inner thoughts as he is going through the stages of grief vs being able to hear meruems thoughts for the entire arc.

The thing about Pitou is that she didn't lie. She never found out Kites name, to her, Gon was just soe guy who turned up and demanded she heal someone important to him, she figured maybe a sickness, or maybe that person was wounded like Komugi, she didn't know that Kite was the guy she killed earlier. If she could have, she most likely would have held her end of the bargain and healed Gons friend, but she didn't know it was impossible.

next chapter comes the most epic rage of anime
You guys keep basing your opinion on these characters by their past actions, but this whole arc is about coming to understand one another and becoming wiser as a whole. This obviously applies to Pitou as well. Yes, she has committed heinous acts in the past. But as the arc progressed we saw her slowly become more compassionate especially towards Komugi after realizing how much she means to the king. I believe everything she said now was sincere. "People" can change guys...
I wouldn't say Pitou is evil, she(?) is just fiercely devoted to the king. Anything that may be a threat to him, must be eliminated. Which is what Kite was when they were approaching the nest.

It sucks, cuz Gon is not wrong, if he and Kill weren't there when Pitou first attacked , Kite would have had way better chances. So its not just blaming himself as a thing that people normally do, he actually has some ground to stand on while he thinks like that, which makes his mental break so much more heartbreaking and believable

in the manga i thought pitou's apology wasn't sincere (i think because the way she was drawn.) here in the anime she sounds remorseful, which makes me think she can feel sympathy for gon's loss only because she went through the komugi/meruem/dragon dive situation. pitou knows what almost losing someone feels like now. and gon's the one who allowed her to save komugi and prevented pitou from really losing the king. she's gonna have the decency and understanding to say sorry and mean it, even if it doesn't change her actions. (although yeah, she might just be saying "sorry you're in this situation," not "sorry i caused it by killing him and made it worse by torturing his corpse")

Just imagining how different (and maybe better) things would have been if Pouf didn't have fooled Pitou into believing that Komugi was safe... therefore not telling Gon that she has to kill him, therefore Gon not trigering his Rage and not making that Nen Contract with himself.
Pitou most likely would still be alive and eventually she would be part of the current Good Chimera Ants that are considered Magical Beasts...

@@King26J but i mean.... Pitou was more concern about Komugi being held as a hostage than her mission to kill Gon. That is why i think she wouldn't have tried doing anything to Gon, therefore letting gon have enough time to grief Kite's death and finally accepting it and calming himself down.

I really like this arc of HxH. Its one of my top favorite in long running anime ever. But I never got all the love Gon has for Kite. If you think about it they never spent that much long together.
At least it doesnt show it in the anime. Not sure if they did a better job with that in the manga.
Also, not a big fan of this asspull super power that Gon gets that makes him stronger even than Meruem and Netero.
