I actually think the unflattering color of the pink dress is intentional. It's not her dress. Her human outfits are representative of her relationship with Eric or humans as a whole. She wears the unflattering pink dress when she's still an odd mute girl they found on the beach but she changes to the blue dress when he starts to fall in love with her. It's an intentional mismatch that serves to highlight how out of place she is in the human world at first.

I love pink and red together, very strawberry shortcake and always eye candy to me, but yes her blue dress is so great, the bodice reminds me of Aurora's peasant dress and it's always been my favorite. I didnt grow up with Ariel aa much bc when my older siblings were little, they watched the little mermaid so much the tape broke and my mom did not want to buy it again and see it even more
The problem is that strawberry shortcake is a THEMED character. She's a literal representation of a strawberry shortcake. Pink and red clash horrifically especially if a character isn't themed. This is, was, and always will be a horrible design choice.

I must be the only person in the world who LOVES Ariel's pink ball gown. Her wedding gown is a very close second. I'm a sucker for 80s wedding gowns. My mom's dress looked a lot like it.
Actually I love red and pink together. Also I think she can rock any color, but I think the green dress we see her a lot in nowadays is a bit too vibrant. Like her hair is already so vibrant, and the contrast with so much green is a bit much imo.

The light pink dress is actually a omage to the princesses before her. The puffs on her sleeves are from snow white the color pallete is from Cinderella's gown that got torn up And the long sleeves are from Aurora
The pink dress was actually meant to be a combination of all disney princesses (sleeve puff slashes from snow white, pink color, off the shoulders and long sleeves from Aurora, and skirt swoops from cinderella)
