I think the reason why Tiana has longer hair in almost every scene from the movie is because they wanted to emphasize the fact that she cares more about her job than being trendy and looking fancy, that's why in her fantasy where she's already successful she looks glamourous with short hair and expensive clothes since she doesn't have to worry about money anymore

You know, Tiana always felt the most real to me. Like, someone who could really exist and talk to me. She had a job, an actual personality, and she and Navean had ACTUAL romantic chemistry rather than the whole “it was love at first sight! They got married a minute after meeting.” She was sassy and stubborn and had actual character flaws, witch mad her all the more interesting, and her arc throughout the movie all the more satisfying. I love that movie so much.. and the music is glorious

I once heard a theory that said that the blue dress Tiana uses at the dance was actually meant for her. Throughout the movie we see that Lottie basically wear exclusively pink, so it would make no sense for her to have a blue dress out of nowhere. Therefore, people (including myself) belive that the blue dress was a gift Lottie was going to give to Tiana anyways😅

YESSS! Also think about it this way:
If you look hard enough it looks like Charlotte has a smaller shoulder/chest width (im sorry-) than Tiana. I have a knack for small details because I like to draw Disney characters and this is what I noticed. Now, nothing is stopping Charlotte from buying a blue dress. Yes, it's very unlikely, but it's entirely possible that she could've bought a blue dress because she liked it. However, if you consider what I pointed out, and how Tiana looked in it (it looked like it fit her like a glove), why would Charlotte buy a dress that doesn't fit her properly?

    • @Grace-eg3ky
      @Grace-eg3ky Pƙed 3 lety +35

Giselle had a lot of dresses in her movie too but I don't think she had near as many as the others. I haven't seen every princess movie. I just know that they spent more work on making Princess and the frog more historically accurate because it was more of a recent movie and they had access to photos and stuff and there's still people alive form then, too. For Tangled or Brave, it's hard to find photos from way back in the 1800's so they couldn't be as accurate on those. Frozen was modern so scratch that. Enchanted was more of a fantasy themed which was partly modern so scratch that as well. Old ones like Snow white and Cinderella were just dumb all they wanted to do was glamorize those movies back then. The movie could have been great if all the frog stuff didnt exist...the opening was amazing and the ending was so satisfing BUT the middle was annoying and pointless..at least in reguards to Tiana..It felt like she was being punished for no reason..her not wanting a relationship or to settle down and have kids shouldnt have been an issue and her working hard and not spending time hanging out with others isnt inherently bad either...Tiana didnt always want to work that hard but had to reach her goal.and she was close so why would she have let up right then? Naveen needed to learn a lesson but Tiana could have at least stayed human during the movie and taught him hummility without turning into a frog herself.

That's an interesting take on it. I personally agree with the sentiment that 2D animation shouldn't go away just because 3D styles are becoming more prevalent- the two are not comparable in terms of technological advancement. Movies like Spiderverse and Klaus, more popular examples, showcase how 2D and 3D techniques can be used hand-in-hand to improve the visuals harmoniously, and not in competition with one another.

Growing up Tiana was always my favorite Disney princess. Not only was she one of the best character wise but she also had the best wardrobe. Even so the writers made sure that they handled her character arc with care considering this was the first black princess they ever gave us. They also rounded out the world of 1920s New Orleans. They completely used it to their advantage which a lot of other princess movies fail to do. We got to see the inner city, the jazz scene, black culinary arts which really came into play during this time, the swampy bayou area which was in many black folk songs during the time, and the "mysterious" afrian voodoo part of it that got blown out of proportion during this time and caused many riots blaming black people for their "devilish" ways. For once in a while the villain was genuinely scary and this film is filled with sooo many bops. Navien also had great character development as well which is pretty rare in these movies. All in all, dare I say this may be the best disney princess film they've made.

I could headcanon that Lottie planned to give Tiana a party gown to celebrate her dreams coming true and wanting to give Tiana a dress that stands out as a gesture that she wants Tiana to celebrate finally earning enough money to afford her restaurant. That ''Song of the South" movie was not well known by most people, and it's never seen anymore (compared to Snow White, which is older but everyone has seen it). Song of the south was racist, the characters were not cute or lovable. Changing the ride to a well known , more recent movie with loved characters will make it so much better. I think they should also re-theme the Blue Bayou restaurant to this movie, the restaurant that overlooks the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. It has those fake fireflies and frog croaking noises, and really has the same ambiance as Princess and the Frog. Tiana was a restaurateur so she should have a restaurant at Disneyland.

If I remember correctly they literally had frog sounds as it’s promotion. LOL! If i was working two jobs and had almost no me time i would definitely never think about cutting my hair. Also the bobbed style was hard to style and if she had to work all the time it would get messed up alot. As a working woman she would much prefer a simple bun or ponytail to the much more time consuming gelled style in the 20s.

Retrolord I’ve noticed it too! In 2010, Tangled made twice as much money as their budget. In 2012, Pixar’s Brave made nearly five times as much as their budget (albeit the same amount as Tangled). Pretty much since then, I feel like Disney wanted to bridge the gap between them and Pixar so they seemed more like one company than the other due to Pixar’s rising success. Coco, Toy Story 4, Onward, Incredibles 2, and Inside Out were all incredibly well received. From my memory, really only Wreck It Ralph, Frozen (1&2), Zootopia, and Moana have been successful. I think the issue Disney ran into was when they wanted to further their animation by making all of the live-action versions of their classic, beloved 2D animated movies from the Disney Renaissance. They’re trying another Renaissance but they aren’t producing new stories and the live-actions don’t have the same beautiful effect as the originals (the only one I enjoy is Cinderella (2015)) so it’s just ultimately failing :/ They definitely need a new approach cause the ultra realistic live action animation is not working and the similarity between them and Pixar is only growing so if they want to differentiate, they need to find something else.

Pixar has a few gems here and there. Toy Story franchise, Ratatouille, Coco, Moana, Tangled and Finding Nemo have all been excellent films, but you're right, a lot of the Pixar films haven't hit the same way that the hand-drawn animations in the 90s and 2000s have.

Although tangled is my favorite princess movie, Tianas personality and character will always be my all time favorite. Her independence was so attractive and a powerful move on Disney. She resembles so many hard working women out there who are independent and don't need no men for support.

Rapunzel and Tiana are my favorite princesses. They're both hard-working people who got through a lot of hardships (Tiana got through the segregation and being low-income, Rapunzel survived an emotionally abusive adoptive mother) who didn't have a 'love at first sight' story with their princes. They had actual arcs and personalities, as well as being able to stand up for themselves.

Tiana reminds me of Hazel from the book series Heroes of Olympus, not only is she one of the first black characters in the series, but she was strong and kind at the same time (example: the time Frank said that he liked being around her because he felt needed, but also said that Hazel didn’t need protection) she is overall one of my favorite characters

I'm personally not a fan of Elsa's dresses since they don't really fit in with the style everyone else wears. Her dresses (I mean like the one after let it go for example) look like more modern prom dresses. Her original dress is pretty tho. I also wasn't a fan of her braid but that's just because she looked banging with open hair and I would have loved to see her with open hair more often. Lol I'm sorry for rambling. :( This is just my opinion so if you disagree that's fine.

I haven't seen the video but I would like to say that escpessially now as a new artist, I LOVE the visuals. Dr. Facilier moments were so good. The contrasts of the dark colors with the bright lights and constant threatening movements from the souls from the rest of the movie is on point. The purples and reds and oranges make such good ambience and really give off the perfect evil and manipulatuve, but playful vibe he had.
Edit: I'm 15, I also think the 2D ones are better. Right now, lots of the characters have the same features with only small nuances to tell them apart. Also, speaking of the formess style, I read drawing a flapper character for fun and did some research. I read that they had some sort of corset-esque version of a binder that flattened breasts to maintain that form.

Facts. I watched Beauty and the Beast and the animation in it was a little off at times, the frame rate looked a little low and sometimes depending on the scene Belle'S face looked completely different. It's a shame that just when Disney perfected hand drawn animation, they ditched it. And so has Ghibli.

Charlotte is honestly the best, like she’s bratty, but she’s not outright mean. For instance, at the ball with Travis, she denies him but says that there’s other girls who would be dying to dance with him. Also, Tiana's dresses represent her personal growth throughout the film. Since she starts off as an overly serious workaholic, she wears mostly dull-colored clothes. (Even her initial costume at the party is intentionally bland.) When she's in her frog form, she slowly learns that having fun is just as important as working hard. After she's turned back into a human, her dresses become brighter to reflect her change of heart.
