FACT
OMG YES
agreeeee, still can’t get over the awful wardrobe and character changes ;(
YES
Also when people wear red to a funeral it means they are happy about the person's death. Courtney wears a head to toe red look the day after killing Liz.
Lol I didn’t knew that
The more you know
@The Dark Overlord Mmm it’s not. It’s definitely not a universal truth but it is a cultural truth.
@The Dark Overlord I dont know for other places but it sure is in Spain and Mexico.
@The Dark Overlord To a degree, there's some truth. In Asia especially, red is the color of good luck and celebration. More traditional couples will even wear red instead of the more western (and now popular) white during a wedding. So wearing red at a funeral is considered a huge, huge no-no, as if you're "celebrating" someone's death.
have i ever seen jawbreaker? no. am i going to watch this entire thing, probably multiple times? yes.
I highly recommend it 😁😁😁

We NEED an analysis for Clueless.
This
yess
Dude please
Cher alone has 50 different outfits. It will be a long one. I'm looking forward to it!
She did an interview with Mona May the costume designer for Clueless, where the did talk about/ breakdown the outfits. But I would love to see a separate one where it’s just Clueless.
I have a feeling that Marcie is the way that she is because in the movie it’s revealed that she never had a mom, and very clearly resents her dad. So she kinda sees Courtney as like a mother figure in her life and that’s why she tries so hard to stay on her good side.
I always felt bad for her dad. You can tell he tries hard to be a good dad, but gets bullied by his own kid in return... you can tell he is a pushover and probably spoiled her to make up for the mom's absence, that would explain why she's a brat.
Courtney bullies her too, like in the prom when she made fun of Marcie for being "dumb", you could tell how Marcie was uncomfortable.
I know it’s really sad. Idk if I’m looking too deep into this but maybe in a way she kinda blames him for their mom not being there. Idk not much was explained in that one scene but she clearly resents him for some reason. And yeah I’m thinking that she tolerates a lot of Courtney’s abuse because she doesn’t want to lose her status as popular, and because Courtney may have been the only mother figure in her life so losing that would be extremely damaging to her.
What about that 80s song her dad sang acapella "I Think We're Alone Now" ?
@@madisondaniels2524 what about it? He mentions she was a fan of Tiffany.
@@walqqr1 The song "I Think We're Alone Now", it makes me think of the critique going in separate directions. Liz dies, Julie quits after Fern gets a makeover, Courtney possibly goes to prison following Liz's murder, which leaves us thinking Foxy is alone now.
Hopefully this gets people to finally watch and recognize Jawbreaker as a Cult Classic. 🍬🍬🍬
True true
never seen it and now I want to 😂💞
@@Silver-kw7eq me too lol 😂💓
Yes!
I wonder if they'll try to make jawbreaker into a Broadway musical like they did with heathers and mean girls? 🤔
Just an observation: the teens in Heathers do look a lot more like teenagers. I looked up the actors ages online and found out that four of the main actors in Heathers were between the ages of 17 and 20 at the time of the film’s release while the four jawbreakers girls were between 23 and 27 at the time of the film’s release. Not a criticism, but something I noticed.
For Jawbreaker, they casted the actresses older on purpose as a way of poking fun at past high school movies that casted actors way older than high school age, like Grease.
@@jessicajalali3553 That actually makes sense. In Grease, they had to constantly color Jan's hair because the actress was going grey (31 years old at the film's premiere) and I kept waiting for the school principal to stop scolding Sonny as a student and ask him if he was there to pick up his daughter (the actor was 32, but I thought he looked older. lol)
And the best part is that both Julie and Fern do not look that grown up, but Marcie and Courtney do, and it's cool because it gives us the feel of an older/more powerful character
@@jessicajalali3553 yeah, i've definitely heard julie say somewhere that it was done on purpose and that she knew full well she didn't look high school aged lol
I’ve always thought the girls in heathers looked like they were their 20s besides Winona. I’m 28 and still get mistaken for as young as 19 sometimes.
Another thing I'd like to add about the outfit Courtney wears to the prom, is that the hairpiece and sash connected via bracelets makes her outfit reminiscent of a Greek goddess. It's also in line with another quote she said in the movie to Fern: "I made you and I am God"
Yea I love the crown thing she hooked her hair up w/ , bc I own crowns myself
kind of fitting regarding the questionable morals and actions of most greek gods
This movie was iconic and a little haunting.
it was indeed. i couldn't sleep the night I saw it lol.

@@darthtepes people have their opinions
“Played by Judy Greer in one of her earliest supporting roles” Unfortunately you could have just said “one of her earliest roles” since Hollywood is PERPETUALLY underutilizing her as an actress! Wonderful video btw!
Judy Greer is one of my favorite working class actresses. She has such a versatile look and acting style. Her career may not be all that consistent but she has an impressive filmography. She will get her flowers one day 💐
I actually watched this movie on TV because Judie was in it ^_^
"In fact, most of my favorite outfits in the film are Ferns. It's like Barbie but if she were a bitch."
True, except for that first rose dress she wore. I love that dress. It's like Barbie meets Marilyn Monroe. Especially with those blonde curls.
Honestly, i can't wait till Heathers gets covered. It's one of my absolute favorites.
The very end of Heathers is currently my favorite scene in cinema. Veronica is just too damn iconic for words.

@@Soliology the original film is crueler and the book is dangerously lewd and lascivious
@@louisxvii2137 what's the original film?
@@louisxvii2137 damn, the movie is already pretty dark lmao I just watched it for the first time the other day and it was.. a lot.
Did Liz's parents leave town for several days without their high school-aged daughter on her birthday and during the school week? That's insane (so is violently assaulting your best friend as a birthday gift, but still). I know they needed the parents out of the way for plot reasons, but damn. Leaving your child home alone on her birthday for days.
Her parents probably went on a business trip or something
I thought that was weird too also why the hell didn’t Liz keep her door locked like I know they’re her friends and all but still yet where are the boundaries.
The way this movie TRAUMATIZED me as a child
it’s probably been 10 years since I last watched it and I haven’t had a jawbreaker since

I love how Marcie wants so bad to make "foxy" happen but no one will call her that.
Also I felt so bad for her dad in the movie. He was so sweet, but Marcie was such a spoiled brat to him... sure its probably his own fault since he was clearly a pushover parent, but i still felt so bad for him.
I wish they had showed Courtney's family, I'd like to get a glimpse to why she is the way she is.
After hearing your observation about Courtney's purple outfits, it occurred to me that Courtney renames Fern "Violet", a purple plant. Fern went from a green background plant to a bright purple flower. The new name was likely an indication of Fern's path to try to take over Courtney's role.
They actually reference that in the lunch room scene.
I loved rose mcgowan she looked liked evil snowhite specially in this film with all the vibrant colours
✨ CULT CLASSIC! ✨ This movie is beyond awesome! “Life’s a Bitch and then you die.” - Courtney Shane
This movie, The Craft and Fran Fine in The Nanny shaped my style💖💖💖
Omg I would love a video on the nanny
Same but instead of The Craft mine would be Rachel Green, Mónica Geller in Friends and Cher in Clueless! (Including Fran fine in The Nanny and this movie) 😅😏🤩
jawbreaker has been on my watchlist for a while and i guess this is a sign that i need to go ahead and watch it already
What about "confessions of a teenage drama queen"? I remember loving all megan fox's outfits
I second this!!
third this!!
I LOVED that movie as a teenager! The outfits were so cool!! I love Lolas extra personality!! 🤩😅🤣👏✨💞
idk if someone already said this, but I think Julie wearing blue and Courtney wearing red is also sort of a "good vs evil" thing. Blue being associated with good and red with evil. Reflecting their opposite reactions on the accidental murder.
Marcie's "Foxxy" necklace kind of reminds me of a dog collar. Which is fitting for her position and personality.
I felt like her hair at the prom looked similar to the way the Greeks portrayed the hair of their goddesses in those old paintings you find in museums. Could that plausibly suggest that she is a god in her own mind, as well as a callback to her earlier quote; "I made you, I'm god, deal with it!". Don't know...but I did like the hairpiece all the same. 🙂
“peachy fucking keen” iconic✨
Can you analyze Thirteen and Clueless With all the characters
I SECOND THIS!!!
the thirteen from 2003?
@@observantalien yea
Omg thirteen was based off niki reeds real story
Thirteen would be great to analyze.
Courtney's hair style in hte prom scene was actually influnced by Rose McGowan. She was coming out of the hair and make up trailer and saw the flowers in Rebecca Gayheart's video and turned around and asked for a more interesting hair style and that's how they came up with the silver ribbon.
Julie: “Eat…… shit” (slow mo) smile at kourtney. So classic! 💅
The only thing I love more then the costumes in Jawbreaker is the soundtrack, it’s iconic. I think I need to do a rewatch now!
Yesss female grunge 💖💖💖💖💘💘💘
The scene when they're walking down the hall!!
Yoo hoo is remarkable!!!
I had Yoo Hoo by Imperial Teen on a mixed tape somewhere
Julie's sunglasses in the movie is so freaking iconic. I spent my adulthood looking for the ones she wore in the movie. The clout sunglasses is my absolute favourite!
Rose McGowans red outfit is iconic!
I actually never watched most of these movies but this channel just makes such good videos
same, but to add onto that, i have absolutely no interest in fashion culture 💀 i really enjoy how thorough the analyses are though, and the fashion onscreen is always serious eyecandy
I loved the fashion in love don’t cost a thing starring Christina milian and Nick Cannon. I tried to dress like her when I saw that movie lol
Fun Fact: Christina's mom actually styled her for the film! So every outfit Christina has on, her mom picked out for her.
She has a video on her actually!
i wanted to be her when i was little. her outfits were so iconic
Sis I’m just as glamorous as her character Paris now lol
i absolutely love how much attention you bring to the fact that costuming helps tell the story just as much as any other part of movie making, it gives me a new appreciation every time i watch one of your videos!!
It really does, It’s such a important part!
Never thought you would do this movie, but I'm loving every second of it
It’s clear that Courtney and fern both wanted to be Liz, but they could never replace her . Fern idolized her, and Courtney killed her out of sheer envy .
i want to add that with the scene where they are in the hallway with just marcie, julie, and courtney, courtney is wearing in a different colour palette to julie and marcy, while they are wearing cooler colours of the spectrum, courtney is wearing a dark red. this could be a way to make her stand out more to the viewer, but that’s just a thing i picked up.
I always thought it implied Courtney had the power now, like the scrunchie scene in Heathers.
Jawbreaker was my favorite “clique” movie as a lil girl and still is - the costumes are everything!
Ah, nostalgia! This came out the year I started high school. It was my Mean Girls- I was already out of school when that came around.
I’d love to see a breakdown of Cruel Intentions- another classic from my high school years.
I like that they dress up from the 50s, it’s like they were bringing the fashion back 🤩👗💖
Honestly I love these type of movies especially when it’s from the 1980s-2000s,I would watch these again and again without getting bored! I hate the movies these days, I get bored every easily and it has the same plot no matter what genre it is.
True🙌🏼👌
They have some really amazing movies from before the 1980s too. I would definitely recommend checking out older movies. They were more unique.
@@mastersnet18 really?! I wanna know! What are some of them called.

Y’all I tricked my mom into taking me to see this movie at the theaters when I was NINE. She had clearly not seen the trailer nor cared that it was rated R? 😂 also i think my favorite look is Courtney’s blue sleeveless turtleneck and red skirt/tights combo-the contrast is stunning on her !

I was soo happy for being a teenager in the 90's. Loved the clothes and fashion! Miss those yrs! One of my favorites. Rose McGowan was absolutely gorgeous in this movie, love her pearly white skin and dark hair. 90's was the best in just about everything.
"I killed the teen dream...deal with it." Just found your channel and I am obsessed! ♡
I used to have a necklace similar to foxy's. Wish I still had it!
I haven't watched Jawbreaker's but I'm glad to watch it purely to throw another underrated chick flick in my friend's faces
Julie Benz has always been an absolute icon, her fashion as Darla in Angel the series is *chefs kiss* (though it doesn't quite beat Cordelia, of course)
Quick observation. Possibly the colourways and colour combinations are symbolic of the bright funky colours in a jawbreaker.
UGHH FINALLY!!! I've been sick and tired of seeing Jawbreaker being the black sheep of all the chick flicks. Extremely underrated and will forever be a classic
What I love most about Julies outfits is you can see visually how courtney’s control loosens, her first day out of the group she wears white sunglasses that look like her purple ones she wore the day before, and had her hair done up and a more stylish jacket. Still eye catching, but much more subdued than the days before. Her colors gradually become darker and more casual, and her sunglasses are black like the type of sunglasses a real teenager would wear. as well her clothes are less and less colorful, with either green or blue to represent the calmness you mentioned. However, her prom outfit i feel is her getting to be confident in herself, wearing a brighter shade of blue than usual and being more done up because while she’s been away from courtney, the whole time she was scared of courtney lying to the police and saying she killed liz. but now, she has the upper hand and while not needing to draw attention, she doesn’t have to hide either.
Never even seen this movie. But I will still watch

Fern is my fav character but Julie has all my respect
“Smile, pretty Courtney.”
“Juuuuuuuulieeeeeeeeeee!!!”
Notice how Julie and Marci are wearing similar colors green, purple and blue while Courtney is wearing red a color that not only is different but also stands out it feels like there telling us that Country is the “queen B “ and her friends are just like her minions to her
I like how during her fight with Courtney, when she's wearing the "bitch" shirt, her necklace is the same color as Courtney's top :0
Please please please do The Clique and Bratz
Yess 😍
Yes omg
I LIVED ON CLIQUE BOOKS AND THE MOVIE
In defense of Courtney’s cut out sweater-red skirt combo: it looks very similar to the cheerleaders uniform (powder blue top, red-orange skirt but Courtney’s is more form fitting and skin tight obvi).
The outfit itself can have two interpretations depending on the character: Courtney and Marcie still see her as leader of the group so of course Courtney stands out compared to Marcie. But when Courtney is standing next to Fern, FERN stands out more. It sends the message to the audience that Fern now views Courtney the same way she views the cheerleaders that adore her: a servant.
Julie's wardrobe after she breaks away from Courtney is like a mix of Liz and Fern
upon rewatch i think its also important to note that courtney's first fit is in green the opposite of pink, which is what liz is wearing
I LOVED this! I never noticed how Fern emulated Liz, which absolutely seems so obvious now!
Julie looks so beautiful with a denim jacket, and Courtney's prom dress was iconic, and red just suits Courtney so well and her violet necklace 😍 and white, and Ferns florist pink dress, and scarf combo is so iconic

fern's outfits reminds me of sandy from grease, and i think this was kind of hinted when she talked about seeing julie's boyfriend in grease twice.
My favorite piece is hands down 12:00 Courtney's light blue turtleneck sleeveless blouse that looks like it has a vertical argyle print down the front.
At first glance, it looks so conservative.
However, when you look closer, the diamond patterns are cut out and shows how much skin she was exposing.
It definitely fit her character !

@@chelssola In 2001 she was driving swerved around a car to avoid hitting it (you’re not supposed to do that) and struck and killed a 9 year old boy. She only had to pay a fine and had her license temporarily suspended
@@HelloListenGoodbye I wonder if she goes to a therapy group for celebs who have caused fatal car accidents with Matthew Broderick and Brandy?
I thought she drove around a stopped bus.
(June 2001) She swerved around a vehicle that suddenly stopped in front of her. When she swerved to avoid hitting it, a 9 year old boy had went into traffic (without looking) chasing after a ball. She tragically hit him and he passed instantly. She plead no contest to involuntary manslaughter. She paid her debt to society, but still suffers from what happened. She found it hard to live with what happened and contemplated self harm and suicide. She took a backseat from Hollywood and focused on charity work and her family.
