Found out about this game and Nightshade last week and the games clicked with me instantly. Once I got better the games became so much more fun. Honestly these might be some of my favorite action games in general now and it makes me happy I can still find things I love out of nowhere.

I remembered it waa a hard fun game. When you get to that building with the all white rooms & death traps 😂😭 brick wall city right there. Everyone i know quit right there. I used an action replay to turned off the health drain mechanic at that point. I got tried of hurrying & falling into pits. I had a easier time with that sewer area with the rushing water then that white wall base area. The volcano area was hella long 😅 after i beat the game...i used codes to unlock everything.

This game needs a proper remake

Funny you keep call Moritsune Hotsuma's oldest friend. It's his brother. Which could make your complaint of Hotsuma not reacting much worse I suppose.
I personally did like the story despite it being simple. I never got the impression it was going for epic. I think because it's tragic with the characters begging for death and pretty much everyone dies (and I mean everyone), it was memorable. No happy endings of any kind at all. I do agree that the voice acting doesn't help the game. It's one of the few instances where I prefer to play in Japanese because the actors are better.
Overall a very solid game and I love it and the sequel.

I barely remember the 2nd game on the ps2. I remembered the combat felt smoother but i don't remember the story. I remembered the story in this one way more then the 2nd one with the female ninja. The 2nd game felt way easier by a mile. There's a ds game too

Wait it's that your first video in the channel ? + I love Shinobi 2002 it's a shame that this game didn't get a remake or at least a remastered version

Yeah, it is a shame. At least it's cheap if you've got a PS2!
