Hi Roger ,
I think most os the salmon taste like crap sort of thing came about because the people catching them weren’t looking after them - if you leave any fish in a bucket out in the sun it will deteriorate quickly . I use a 2lt cordial bottle filled with water and frozen to keep my fish cool by part filling the bucket with sea water and putting the cordial bottle in the middle and i then place my fish in head first around the bottle . It doesn’t take long for the frozen bottle to cool the water down and i can also use it as a drink bottle . Sure it is an extra 2 kg to lug down the beach but as i can use it to cool the fish and drink its contents if i get thirsty i feel it worthwhile.
Don’t Forget the fishcakes , once made they can be frozen and make a nice meal when the weather turns bad and you can’t get out for a fish !
The frames also make good crab baits !
The goat returns
Thanks Matt.
Definitely the goat of fishing 😆

Very informative 👍👍👍
Welcome back Roger - great video as usual. I saw the comments about bleeding - I know it's not the nicest thing to see, but if you are considering a video on how to effectively dispatch and bleed the fish I'd definitely be keen to learn about that.
Roger i enjoyed your video after a long interval expecting more videos ❤️
More to come! Glad you enjoyed it.
Spot on Roger!
Thanks Wagga
Have been waiting for your next vid. 😊 Glad to know you are well and catching lots of fish. One more vid that will be on my replay list. Thank you, Roger!

Another great educational video Roger, thanks.
I'm heading to Lake Conjola early November and hopefully catch some beach worms and salmon to use as bait instead of buying it.
I also love eating salmon.
Thank you for your fishing tips Roger. Always so educational and fun to watch. All the best.

They are so good to eat..Whoever say's that obviously does not like eating fish...I got one on a live mullet the other day..Good size
Yeah your channel is excellent. Literally the best one out there. Down to earth and straight to the point.
Thanks Patrick, I appreciate the encouragement :)
Bloody great video! Its always so hard to talk to fish man at the beach no one wants to share any tips. I really appreciate this thanks mate!
First time to your channel and it was a grate video and learnt heaps from it thank you and keep up the good work going to watch some of your other videos now
Thanks James 🎣😊
Possibly the most authentic fishing videos I've come across. You constantly inspire me to keep it simple and to just enjoy the process. I can now catch beach worms thanks to you.
That’s awesome John, great to hear from you.
Loved the video mate. Its been waaaayy too long since your last upload.
Great info.
Thanks for watching!

@@RogerOsborneFishing hi Roger, please post the question u have at the end of video as a comment as well, so that people can respond at a single place and vote up other comments where we share same idea.
Other than that i am interested in seeing a pov video where u find sand bars and place to fish. With drone video we understand the concept would be good to see a pov on a gopro.
Thanks for the content, really useful
SO helpful, thank you
You're so welcome!
Always love your vedio
Thanks Ken.
Same thing happens here, plenty of good eating fish but some species are deemed "no good", besides with that beer batter if yours I'll bet anything tastes even better, ty for the video Roger.
Bro, you are the most real person doing these vids and I appreciate it all, thank you for your time and good fishing, as i hope i have moving forwards :)
Thanks Tim, I appreciate that
Another great video Roger. I've never tried eating Aussie salmon but would give it a try.
I am sure that you will enjoy it, Roger
Hey bud. Another great video. From one fishing CZcamsr to another I understand the time and effort that goes into editing/filming this content. Keep up the work. Matt.🐟 Thankyou.
Thanks Matt, all the best, Roger
❤your shows.
Just yesterday I caught a 62cm Australia Salmon and I released it back into the ocean on the knowledge I learnt from my Dad and Grandfather about Aussie Salmon not that great to eat. After watching this great video I will be inclined to keep my next 60cm plus Aussie Salmon, thank you.
Thx mate
Love your channel❤️
Thank you so much!!
Cheers Mate!
I totally absolutely agree with you mate. Extremely underrated eating fish. You’ve nailed it with your cooking preparation, spot on. Delicious.
Totally agree, everyone that I cook them for loves them!
Epic 🔥🔥🔥🤙🏽
This is great content well done! 🤙🏽
More to come!
Great videos, in learning alot thank you
Glad you like them!
Excellent video... Super keen to get out there and give it a go! Love to know a bit more about beach fishing gear (rods/line size/reels etc) + Essential accessories.
OK, thanks for your feedback. I hope to cover these subjects shortly, regards Roger
New subscriber. Thank you for the great content. 😊
Thanks for subbing!
I've been saying the same thing for years, they're a great eating fish. Used to catch heaps up along the NSW coast on new years camping trips
Good stuff
Every time i tell someone that salmon are great they tell me they are trash but those same people will eat tailor to me salmon and tailor taste almost the same but salmons texture is 100 time better
Roger you are sure pure
Thanks Roger 👍have been a long time bream fisherman on hard body lures. I'm very keen to get right into beach fishing. This video has been a wealth of knowledge.
Cheers
Thanks Luke, what are some of your go-to hard bodies for Bream?
@@RogerOsborneFishing Can't go wrong with any of the Atomic chubby 38mm cranks in deep or shallow. Normally using a 7 foot rod 2-6lb with 4lb braid and fluro carbon. Bit of a hand full if a good flathead has a go though.
Nice to see your channel’s got some new content ....
Hi Bruce, yes thanks more on the way 👍
Hello Roger, another great video. You are the only person that I know that starts with the basics of surf fishing and goes through everything that somebody fishing in the surf for the first time needs to know, most videos from others are about the fish they catch not about "how to" . The best of luck with your channel. Regards Kevin
Thanks Kevin 👍 Much Appreciated, Roger
Roger, I share this same feeling. Although I will only surf fish in San Francisco Ocean Beach in which Salmon aren’t around 😂 I still followed videos 1-3 in order just in case I missed out on your sage knowledge. Thanks so much
Great, thanks
Salmon are of the best eating!!! Great video
Thanks Shannon, agreed they are much better than people realise.
Awesome video Roger! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us! Could you please explain how are you reading the beach with examples? It would be helpful to see what you see and how you know that this specific area is good. I was trying to read a beach but I typically just see waves and not much structure. Thank you!
Great video Roger I learnt a lot and am subscribing to your Chanel.Michael
Awesome, thank you!
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Great video, Roger! My good friend Matt is an expert in catching mulloway down at Curly, he swears by the squid. Keep it up, Rog!
Thanks! Will do!
Great info mate. Not sure if I mentioned it before but I fish Kilcunda and Inverloch beaches. I’ve caught salmon all year round and love the fight they put up. A few weeks back I was at Kilcunda and a huge flock of seagulls were feeding on white bait within casting distance. Salmon were pretty much everywhere!
I pulled in 8 in quick succession on a metal spoon setup. Biggest was near 4kg so I was wrapped.
Tight lines 🐟🐟
Thank you for the great video full of enthusiasm!! I'm a retired fish Pathologist here in Oregon, and they don't look like any Salmonid, or more specifically of the genus Oncorhynchus, but if you like to call them salmon, who would want to argue!! I bet they taste like good redtail Sea Perch, here!!
Hi SnagR, thanks for your comment. Yes, they are not really a Salmon as you would know them. I'm not sure why we call them that
Just found this channel and subscribed. Just wanted to say how nice it is to watch a fair dinkum video for a change instead of a show pony exercise.
Well done!!
Awesome, thank you!
Thx it’s informative
Glad it helped
It comes down to the cook mate , you done well
Brilliant
Another great video Roger. I'd be really interested in learning more about finding sand bars and gutters on the beach
Hi Kevin, watch my 2 videos on How To Read A Beach :)
Great video Roger. Since making the move over to NZ these Australian Salmon or Kahawai as they are known over here have certainly been a staple on our diet. Bled straight away they are a beautiful fish to eat. And as you said, fresh kahawai is one of the best baits around.
Hi John, thanks for your comment, Roger
Great videos, thank. Been very helpful. Im interested in knowing how to handle fish, when i catch one for hook removal 👍
Snapper off the rocks or beach, and Jew interested as well. Roger, good to see your new content.
Thanks Sergey, I am working on a few videos at the moment and plan to publish another one next week.
It would've been really nice if you'd invited the lonely dude up the beach to fish with you guys. Can I also say your voice reminds me so much of Neil Perry. Great vid and just remember to always be kind.
Great vids easy to under stand
Glad you like them!
I realy like to watch your videos and i learn a lot 👍
Glad you like them!
I hardly sub but your videos are the best informatively good for beginners like me.. new subscribers. Keep the videos coming Roger.
Awesome, thank you! All the best B.Jay
Thanks.
You're welcome
Great video! I’ve caught plenty of salmon off the beach with my dad (using mainly pilchards) but am hoping to start catching some with lures.
Sounds great!
Hey Roger , it’s been ages since you did a vid, nice to see you, thanks for the info ,cheers from Wagga
Thanks Ren, More to come!
surf poppers are amazing for salmon
Thanks for the new vid, Roger. Been waiting forever. Dont seem to get many salmon of the beaches around coffs harbour
Hi Dominic, I'm starting some new videos next week. What do you mainly catch around Coffs?
@@RogerOsborneFishing bream, whiting, the odd flathead.
Mate , your surf fishing CZcams channel I think are the best in Australia .
Wow, thanks!
Caught my first Salmon recently and absolutely loved fish cakes. Roger, could you kindly make a video on how and when to set up the hook/strike fish. I have lost a lot of fish due to not being able to set up the hook, either doing it to early or too late. Thanks heaps for your videos!
Killing it rog. Loving your stuff maybe some videos on good beaches to fish around Victoria?
Hi Simon, I don't live in Victoria. I would need to do some research. I know that the colder water does have some impact on fish species that can be caught. You can still catch Mulloway in Victoria. The Barwon River is a consistent producer and the beaches around Barwon Heads.
thanks for the tips on salmon! im the guy who is fishing in the wrong spot for hours and no fish! ill take you tips on thanks
Thanks Jeff, all the best with your fishing.
Roger you’re such a great fisherman! I have learned so much from you on beach fishing. I was very excited when I was able to read the beach correctly and cast into the right spots. And to set up a rig even. I live in the state of Washington we have lots of serf perch in our waters. Any tips on catching this fish?
Australia is a beautiful place
Thanks Numan, yes it is!
