Afternoon Rodger thanks for the video would the wire be good for bonito and can I attach braid direct to swivel and use the stinger wire rig as leader unit
Hi Roger,
Tried this rig for the very first time. Got 1 salmon, 3 Tailor, 1 Trevally and a Flounder plus quite a number of undersize fish.
Great rig. Thanks for the very informative content.
Hey Roger, I’ve come up with a small alteration to the stinger rig you might like. It incorporates a float stopper bead so you can adjust the distance between the stinger and bottom hook and stops the stinger sliding down and the bait folding until a fish strikes. Will come up if you search ‘improved keeper hook rig’ if you’re interested. Really enjoy your vids mate, look forward to the next one 🤙🏼
But I think that’s why Roger uses the half hitch with the line keeps the bait from sliding
It’s hard for me to imagine how a running stinger hook would be able to hook a fish in the mouth when the fish takes the bait since the running stinger hook would move on the line when you yank at the line, as that is what happens when you set the hook on a fish. I guess I will give this rig a try to see how it works and if it would work for me or not. Thanks for sharing this unique rig!
The stinger hook is in the top of the bait. I hook so many fish on that small stinger hook
Roger I’ve watched all your videos, very informative. I am better at reading the beach judging the conditions and rigging up to catch fish. Today I threw in a line at Narwalee beach using this rig and Pilchards and landed the biggest flathead ive ever caught!
Can't wait to use this rig off the beach 👍👍
Great demos, Roger! Very clear and well-explained.
Easy to follow instructions mate, thank you
I’m in Penrith, can you recommend a good beach to fish with my young family in tow?
Another great video; really informative and well explained. Thanks for posting and have a great 2023 with lots of fish.
Great video as usual it answered all my questions about the baiting the stinger rig. Thanks
Great video, Roger! My friend John McCrisp had a baby recently and named her Stinger, after this rig.
Great video and advice! Thank you as always Roger. All the very best for 2023.
Another great video and yes, please keep those beach fishing sessions coming Roger!
Thankyou uncle!
I'm gonna go get my Shimano rod out next weekend and get fishing
Good luck!
Hi Roger been enjoying your vids getting a few fish up Wollongong way on the beach not many whiting yet happy New year .😀👍
Thanx for the vid Roger, Cya in 23. Cheers
Just discovered your channel Roger. I'll have to give this rig a go it looks great
Hi Roger, thanks for sharing this rig, definetely the best. I catch flathead, even good sized sand mullet on this rig using pilchard. The stinger hook did a good job as well as the main hook.
Thanks so much Roger!
Love all your videos, learning alot. I tried your stinger hook, and my first catch was a Solefish. Caught it from the surf, Port Edward, South Africa.
I am hoping to adjust it so I can catch Shad (Elf). I don't like the wire steel traces that most fishermen use around here.
I also made a stinger rig with a float to try and catch mid-top feeders.
Only planning on catching edible fish, as food prices are rocketing in my country. Persistence is key!
Thanks so much for all your advice, never stop teaching/sharing. Your the best fishing teacher on the net.
❤️
Thanks Aylana
Thank you for sharing mate ,happy new year 🎉( George)
Hi roger hope you doing great after living a long time in Donostia San Sebastián (Basque Country ) i have realized i should learn fishing because its a place of love, Culture, Nature & Beaches so finally found your channel where you’re Explaining everything ik details Thanks for sharing wonderful tips hoping some day will do fishing along with You in Australia or Donostia. Keep sharing your content 👍
Running leger pennel rig. Old as the hills. The number 1 rig for sea bass here in the uk. Add a bead swivel and bead in that order to your mainline before tying on the rig. Add a short length of lighter line to the swivel in snaggy areas as a rotten bottom. Attach your sinker to the rotten bottom. Hooks should point in opposite directions for optimum hook up rate.
Happy New Year Roger and your family. All the best for 2023. Another lovely video to start the new year which is always a good start 😀
Thanks very much. Happy New year
Champion as always thank you
I did try that stinger rig well tested thank you Roger 🎣🎣 🐟 happy new year 🎆
Happy new year!
G'day Roger I do use wire but it's a notable wire but very strong great for small shark and the elusive flathead great video thanks I will be cutting my pillies on the angle from now on it makes baiting up much easier cheers and all the best for the new year.
Thanks 👍
Great vid mate
Amazing video Roger keep posting
Thank you, I will
I’m definitely trying this!! I live on the island of Maui Hawaii an I’m tired of getting a nice hit an jus bringing up a tail or a head of my bait🤣 thanks for sharing 🤙
Thanks Shawn, Hello to Maui
Nice work thanks heaps....
great vid thanks but sooo wanted to swat that fly
Great instructional video, thanks. Any suggestions on the correct way to put a pipi on a hook?
Good onya Roger, Love the videos mate definitely going to try this rig out! Looks deadly keep up the great content!
Helpful.
Thanks 😊.
I caught my first 1.5kg fish thanks for your hook set style
That is awesome!
Hi Roger
Outstanding rig this one have caught a few on it now . I have tweaked it a little bit ,I’ve started to snell the bottom hook on with a piece of heat shrink tube over the snell . Keep them videos coming mate always enjoyable watching
Sounds great!
Hi Roger, please can we see how you catch fresh and live bait. In particular squid and small mullet. Keeping livebait alive equipment. Do you have any videos while fishing from a small boat?
Why do you not wear a sleeveless jacket with pockets for things you need while fishing, just like the trout fishing kit we get in NZ.
Love your videos and thank you for putting them up. I find rhem very informative.
Hans
Thanks Rodger great video yet again. Just a clarification in terminology. I always thought your small hook would be classed as a "keeper hook" and a "Stinger hook" would trail slightly below the rear of the bait. Can you please clarify this for me.
Thanks, from a land-locked wannabe beach fisherman. I have had some (limited) success the times I hit the beach, but I expect to do somewhat better now.
Great instructions. Thanks
thanks Roger!! Love that - Ted
Bloody beauty tips, Mate
Awesome video Roger, keep the beach vids coming I love em 👍🎣
Hi legend can u recommend some rigs for rock fishing . Great vid as usual
This works like a charm. Thanks mate
Hi. Love your videos. Please share more videos of how you cook these catches.
Will do!
great description and video to educate, surprised by using a 4/0 hook is that because of size of pillie? would have thought smaller to take bream as bi catch?
Thank you
Great video. Really enjoyable. Wondering where you get pilchards that aren't mush. I'm mid north coast NSW. No chance of buying pilchards like that unless I'm shopping at the wrong places.
I found this video very useful. Thanks 👌🏼
Glad to hear it!
Excellent video, is the 4/0 hook to big?
What knot do u use on your rigs? Keep them coming, very well explained 👏
4/0 is a good size for flatty, tailor, salmon and medium jewies.
2/0 is a great all-rounder as a bream can get it down but most good 2/0s should hold a good Jewie, I like the mustard Viking 2x hooks, have stopped very big grouper in their tracks while drummer fishing and wnever had a hook failure.
A big thing is match the hook size to the bait, you want a natural presentation with good hook exposure.
Would love to fish like you
Roger, why is the stinger a smaller hook? Great videos, all of them.
Better to add magic fishing wire invisible on it or any bait. To avoid small fish to eat it. For me it works perfect.
Hi Abdenour, not as yet. I have a few friends who use it.
LOVE THIS RIG! BRUUUUU!
Love this, thank you!
i tried it and i caught a salmon and the big hook had missed but the small hook had saved the day haha good job
Awesome buddy
Great video! For this rig would you use a running sinker?
Hey Roger all the way from Bahrain here , informative video.
Hi Rhye Sam, great to hear from you!
@@RogerOsborneFishing pls advise what’s the best rig to use for shore fishing
Nice bro I'm gonna test this out paliser bay they been catching big kingies and snapper of the beach
Sounds good
Hey rodger. Do you use this as a running sinker setup?
Thanks champion
Do you ever use circle hooks with this rig or only the suicide hooks? How do go using this with live poddy mullet? I always get tailor taking half my poddy.
Great vid mate! Will rig one up now and try in the morning. Do you find if using just mono targeting jew, that if tailor are around, they snip through the line, or still manage to land them and avoid their teeth?
Great explanation.Thnks.👍👌
Excellent sir thanks
can you show how you put the sinker on please
The fly on Rogers hands when hes baiting the hooks drives me crazy
Thank you for the info you provided; I like the setup. Totally random q, can I use a rig like this in the United States?
Anything I should consider differently potentially?
Thanks in advance, cheers
Thank you Roger for some great videos! Question please ..on the wire leader, it looks premade..how did your get the stinger on there?
I bought the wire Patrick and made it
Great video. Many thanks..
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi roger can I request to join as a member bcoz I like yr show n also m a interested crazy angler pls
I thought for slab baits you always want the hook coming out the skin side? Because the flesh side can go mushy and cover the barb.
Hi Don, the main thing is to have the barb exposed. If the flesh is too thick it would be better to have the barb out the skin side
Thanks Roger. Happy New Year.
Hi Roger do you ever use bait elastic to hold everything in place? Great video thanks
I don't at this point, but I can see its value
If you have decent pillies that are salted you don't need bait mate, does work well though and I keep a roll in my beach and rock kit, it's the same, one I had 10+ years ago so I don't use it often.
Salted pilchards are terrible bait.
Each to there own i never use wire for fishing it is stiff and wont move around in the current does not look natural if you get bitten off well so be it.
Hope you don't go targeting tailor then.
Hi Roger, great looking rig, I'm new to beach fishing, I'm going to Cape Verde to fish off the beaches, there are small sharks, any idea what Ib wire trace should I use as I want to make some of these, thanks for the great videos. 👌
Finding the half hitch to be more difficult than you make it.
Used this rig today in less than ideal conditions, but still managed to land a tailor on it.
I struggled with this as well, but discovered if I twisted it twice instead of once it worked perfectly.
Top G :)
Can I be a member for u pls
Tnks
Abi
Great Video Rog,
1 question, how do you rig beach worm with this setup?
That looks a great spot to holiday could you tell me where it is please
Ive been watching lots of your vids Roger. Great info for a noob like me. Just wondering, why do you salt your slab bate?
I caught a salmon last night on the stinger hook in Durban S.A.
That's great! Thanks for letting me know.
Great!...is this also good for rock fishing?
Yes, definitely
Anyone got good fishing spots in Sydney?
Hi Roger
Love your channel and now spreading out to my contacts, thank you.
I need your advice or perhaps share the appropriate video that can help.
I just can't understand why I cannot just have 1 fishing rod size/rig which I can use on the beach or lake/river?
Can I simply have a relatively tall rod for the beach and still use that for lake/river fishing?
Just seems complicated.
I do understand that hook and sinker selection.
I have 2 beach rods which I like to use in the beach and also in lakes such as lake Macquarie or windang
I just want to understand the right tools for the right fishing location (beach/lake)
Hi AHZ, I often use my beach rode in the lake, especially if I want to cast further distance to reach good water. You can always use a lighter leader if your main line breaking strain is a bit heavy. You can certainly use some rods for multiple purposes.
This is a big topic. There are many variables that influence equipment choice.
Sir Fishing Information are very very Good but Sound system is very slow please loud it thank you. I like your videos
Hi Roger. Mate it’s been a year since you made this video.
I now know why there are no fish left to catch anymore….🤣🤣🤣🤣
You must be having success
Hey Roger, great video & very informative. Do you ever use this rig rock fishing?
Yes I do!
Also, could the stinger hook be used with a long shank?
Hi Roger
Do you use the same size hooks in estuaries? Love you videos, thank you 🤙🏻
Yes I pretty much do for all the main species
Anyine has clip showing the stinker rig set up.full video to the main line
Hi Roger, I'm about to change most of my rigs and setups after watching your beach fishing videos. One question do you match the wire leader with the main line in lb? Eg 30lb main line with a 30lb wire trace - cheers
The thinnest wire you can get away with, tailor use 20-40lb sharks use 70lbs up. I use a halco wire that you melt the coating and fuse together, works great but might want to pre rig incase its windy
I find that the stinger hook actually causes a lot of line tangles for me.
Hi Ezy, I haven't had any trouble with tangles
Ezy, Using mono or braid?
@@BornAgainCynic0086 braid bro
@@unknown1859 braid is tangle city, get 1 rod with hi qual mono and test.
What size steel leader line were you using?
how and were to put the weight on the line please
You use a running sinker on the main line above the rig. The leader for the rig should only be about 30cm long
Hi Roger, how to you get the big hook on the end of the wire trace? Does the metal cap come off and go back on?
It is a metal sleeve that you clamp shut with pliers. You thread the wire through the sleeve, then the eye of the hook, and back through the sleeve, then clamp tight.
Thanks Roger, I will look out for the wire trace next time in at the shop
Hey Roger,
Have you ever tried world Deadliest bait it's a chicken intestine it's like beach worms try with your new video in beach hopefully you will enjoy that bait with lots of fishes 😂
That bait is super effective in India I don't know in your beach let's test
thank you very much for the tip! Hello India
Hi roger, where does the weight get attached ? I’ve watched 2 videos now of this rig and I can’t quite see where the weight is attached, if you could please let me know. Thanks 🙏
The weight is attached as a running sinker on your main line. That is, you thread the sinker on to your main line and then tie on the rig.
I’m still in the learning process and have watched all your videos on how to setup rig, tie knots but I don’t know where the weight goes, apologies I’m still learning
Hi Roger! I don't live in Australia. Would you suggest this rig to be a universal rig set-up that would work at other beaches for a variety fish species? Or is it specifically used on beaches and species in Australia.
Greeting from Canada !
P.s I'm thinking of trying this set up in the southern west meditrraean sea.
If anyone's else has any feedback please comment!
Any success in Canada?
Never tried in Canada as I don't live near the ocean in my region. My question to Roger was regarding the use of the rigs in the southern Mediterranean during my travels. Unfortunately he never replied back
@@pm8196 that rig works worldwide... why not, as long as you have the right bait on it.
I'm gonna try it for seatrout here in Denmark 🇩🇰 🐟🎣
That's awesome. Keep me posted on your experiences. Hope you have success . I wish I lived near the ocean to try the rigs.
