- Welcome back to the VS series! In this series I take similar elements from a Call of Duty game and put them side by side to find out which on is best. Today I take a look at the 2 7.62x39mm assault rifles, the AK-47 and the CR-56 AMAX. Which of these is your favorite?

I play mw on pc and Xbox and yeah, on console the Galil is just straight up superior because of the recoil. But tbf I actually enjoy both guns equally on pc because I can control the jump in the ak recoil and always getting 3 shot kills (2 with stopping power) is just so satisfying

The AK-47 is too unwieldy in terms of recoil compared to the AMAX. Plus, the AMAX is faster firing so deals more damage in close quarters, which is good in the final circles.
The AK was my favorite weapon and it kinda sucks that the CR is better than the AK in almost every way

@@yuj1744 there could literally not be an Oden in this game. I would bet it's the most overlooked most underused weapon in the entire game. It's not a bad weapon by any means, personally I just think it needs betrer attachments. That massive silencer it has is a beast.

5. Skeleton Stock
Feel free to switch some attachments up if you want. I have the Compensater because the recoil control but you can switch it with the Monolithic Suppresser. The recoil isn’t that bad with these attachments. The gun is a really good if you have the right attachments. Please give the gun a try. 🙂
The Red Bear the iron sight to me is OK and I run the RPK barrel so I can have the Comamndo Foregrip because I always love having a bit of recoil stabilization in my guns.

To add to the convo, have y’all ever tried running a build that’s meant for reducing recoil as much as it can? Romanian RPK with the 5.45 ammo kinda rips if u can hit your shots consistently. Maybe put the Frangible- Disabling perk so you can mess with your opponent? 😳 god tier for the pros

(0:25 - 2:02) Rate of Fire, Damage, and DPS
-The AK fires at 561 RPM, whilst the AMAX has a superior 645 RPM.
-Both the AK and AMAX have a 42/38 range, but the AMAX also drops to 33/28 further out.
-The AK deals 394 DPS in close quarters, but due to the AMAX’s faster rate of fire it breaks the solid 400 DPS barrier with 452 DPS.
-Minimum base TTK for the AK is 214 ms, whilst the AMAX is 186 ms.
-Against a plated foe, the AK kills in 535 ms. However, the AMAX can delete someone in 465 ms, which is one of the fastest times to kill for full autos!
(2:04 - 3:07) Shots to Kill
-For close quarters, the AK and AMAX both kill in the same shots regardless of plating, so I’ll only list the AMAX’s minimum number of shots (same as the AK) and max.
-Against an unarmored target, the AMAX kills in either 3 or 4 shots depending on your range.
-With one plate equipped, the AMAX kills in 4-6.
-With two plates, the AMAX kills in 5-6 (within AK range) or all the way out to 8 rounds.
-Against a fully armored foe, the Galil needs 6-7 (within AK range) all the way out to 9 shots if it’s at a distance.
(3:07 - 4:40) Ranges
-Past 28 meters, the AK is only a 3 shot kill to the upper torso.
-The Galil poops out at longer ranges (~45 meters and beyond), where it ends up becoming a 4 hit kill.
-In Multiplayer, the Galil dropoffs probably won’t be that bad in 6v6 maps, but for Ground War and Warzone you can easily feel this dropoff range.
-Both long barrels on the Galil and AK increase your ranges by 35%, though the Romanian Barrel also has an integrated Merc grip.
(4:41 - 5:34)
-On first glance, you might think the AK and Galil have the same type of recoil. In general they both kick upwards.
-The AMAX, however, boasts a smaller magnitude of recoil.
-In addition, the AK kicks hard for the first few shots, which can and will screw you up at a distance since you can’t tap fire with it.
(5:35 - 6:12) Handling
-Surprisingly, the AK can aim faster at 267 ms versus the AMAX’s 284 ms, about one frame faster.
-Mobility on the AK is 93%, but the AMAX is slightly faster at 93.5%.
-The AK boasts one of the fastest reloads in the game at 1.17 seconds. The AMAX is a bit slower at 1.69 seconds, but it probably won’t be a deal breaker.
(6:13 - 8:51) Kitted Guns
- (6:55) A fully kitted AK to Ace’s accord (Mono Suppressor, Romanian Barrel, Tac Laser, Skeleton Stock, and 40 Round Mag) can ADS in 317 ms.
- (7:53) A kitted Galil (Mono Suppressor, Zodiac Barrel, Merc Foregrip, 45 Round Mag and Tac Laser) actually aims even slower than the AK, at 367 ms!
- (8:23) The overall magnitude on both guns are reduced, but the AK still kicks too hard between shots and thus isn’t very reliable at range.
(8:52 - 10:43) Conclusion
-The AMAX is undeniably the winner from 0 all the way to 30 meters; since both have the same damage models at that range, the AMAX has the superior time to kill due to its faster fire rate.
-The AK might seem like it’s a better shot at 30 meters and beyond, but its recoil is a very big deal breaker; the kick from the first few shots means tap firing isn’t as effective as automatic spray, and even that’s not quite as accurate as one might want.

AK really does need a slight recoil buff, I’ve believed that for a while. It doesn’t need to be a laser, but it also shouldn’t have such harsh jumps.

Yeah, but it shouldn't be too big of a buff, because then it would decimate even more in hardcore
The AK is known for its harsh jumps, but the power it packs is pretty devastating. From a gameplay perspective, a slight recoil buff would be nice, but hopefully they do no do anything to crazy like they did w the FAL. The slow fire rate doesn’t help w the recoil either, but the RPK and Romanian barrel help w that. I prefer RPK over Romanian as camos go on it better and doesn’t block the grip. Otherwise, people won’t use guns like the AK as much as others as compared to other guns that can basically do the same thing it does, but better, there really isn’t a point in using it. Especially for WZ, you are essentially putting yourself at a disadvantage.
@@AvertBurden the place were the AK shines is in hardcore, because of it's unlimited 1 shot range. It's true that there are other weapons that can do that, but the AK is the fastest weapon there. And it have great ammo to.

@cicatriz not really, with mono and zodiac, the amax drops off at around 50m, and the AK's recoil is kinda meh beyond that point

The recoil is the only thing that the ak needs
It needs recoil reduction because if you try to go for headshots as the recoil is right now, you're gonna be off target after the first 3 rounds. Currently you have to aim for the waist or lower torso if you want to stay on target, and that reduces your likelihood of getting a headshot, so in this current state buffing headshot won't help much. You'll just get lucky every now and then.
And maybe a bit faster fire rate

Anyway the attachements I use are
1. Compensator/40 rounds mag
2. 5mw laser
3. Merc foregrip (it actually boosts your speed by 4% somehow)
4. Stippled gripe tape
5. No stock (faster ads speed and movement, the extra recoil literally is meaningless

I really hope the AMAX doesn't get another nerf. By far my favorite gun in the game. If anything the AK just needs a recoil buff or a slight damage buff maybe?
The nerf it got was not even noticeable. Anyway I think the RAM and M4 are better in the role the AMAX is trying to fill
The best buff it could get is a 60 round mag for the 5.45

The AK being such an iconic weapon makes it a lot of fun to use, but it just doesn’t compete with the other assault rifles.
Slavic Soul for multiplayer as long as you have a shit tone of recoil control attachments it’s not that bad, although I don’t use it because I still get beat by meta weapons like the mp5, mp7, m4, etc. Personally it’s only good in hardcore.

youweird caca overall yes the recoil is controllable but when compared to the top tier meta guns that are laser beams, it just can’t compete.
Thermionic Emission why do they have to be shitty? And the Grau isn’t even all that good anymore plus they use the Grau for obvious reasons, cuz the recoil is low and easier to control. Yes the AK has controllable recoil but people will lean towards something with less recoil and easier to control which is the Grau, therefore the AK has more recoil and is harder to control. I don’t get the argument here, it’s obviously the AK has more recoil that’s why use other guns.

I feel like when talking about fire rate in these vids ace should also mention that even if ur tracking is literally godlike the net code in this game is bad enough for slow firing weapons to feel much less consistent
For a game that often depends on the first few shots of the gun, the AK sure does bounce around too much for the first 5 shots.
Really separates the skilled players from the not so skilled :)
Schecter 7 but there’s a difference between having a weapon that needs skill and a weapon that is overall difficult to use. I’ve gotten gold for the ak, and for a game with ar’s that laser, it has too much recoil. It’s better than most guns at range but it doesn’t matter because I can barely see or keep my sights on target at ranges above 40m
@@the7A7dude no it doesn't. The less skilled players are just using one of the laser guns. So you are literally just making the game harder for no reason.
It's actually impossible to kill someone peaking their head above a wall past 20 or 30 meters because after the first couple bullets you end up off target and before you get back on them they've already hidden completely behind the wall. It's super frustrating to deal with

With the amax i use the vlk, monolithic suppresser, tac laser, close quarters stock and the 45 round mags.
I originally had the zodiac barrel instead of the vlk but the extra shots don’t matter to me if I can see my target better at long range
Been running the AK lately so came back to look at the most recent gun guide I could find. Wish u covered the 5.45 rounds again here and talked about ranges with the ammo conversin using the longest barrel/monolithic

AK is my baby too, it was basically my most used gun before I tried out the Ram and Amax as of recent. I still prefer the AK over Amax even tho it's simply worse, I love the AMAX but the AK in this game has my heart

The massive recoil of the AK's first six or so shots is its one massive flaw, and they really need to buff it.
I’ll still take the ak 47 it’s been a friend since when cod 4 first dropped and I’m still effective with it stock in war zone as I am with 5 attachments

Not needed for me, if you use the other caliber for the AK47 (for multiplayer) its actually very good but you don't have alot of ammo just a 30 round mag.

@@zackolander5568 youre comparing apples to oranges. 10mm was inherently overpowered. It wasnt that the mp5 itself was unviable. the 9mms were fine as they were, but the range and ttk on the 10mm is what made the mp5 obscenely strong. Not the mention 9mm always has been and will be meta for warzone. The AK regardless of what its using is still mediocre and with the 5.45 ammo conversion at best its slightly more competitive. Still not better in most cases than the CR.

I had an m4 or FAL in my Loadout until recently when I switched to the Amax, and I have kind of fell in love with it. Though I use an optic I may have to try it without one tonight. In MP I have loved the Amax since day 1 lol

Davit David the 5.45 rounds kills faster at close and medium range tho.
At long range you’d have to tap ur trigger in order to hit ur shots so ttk doesn’t matter.
Ace the mp5 recoil pattern changed. I got on today and it was different it bounces way more

I am currently OBSESSED with the AMAX. Stats aside, it is just a beast in action. I run it like your loadout, but instead of Tac Laser I do Mini Reflex
its so good, dropped a 16 kill dub using it with the kar98. iron sights hella clean too
I do the exact same gun setup as u but I use the VLK 3X optic because it’s much better at range. It’s honestly so good and I don’t understand why this gun isn’t a main meta gun, kills so fast at range

The AMAX is meant to shine in CQC to medium range, and the AK is meant to shine at medium to long range. The AK is also more versatile, you can turn it into a carbine or an LMG. Personally I still love the AK, I guess I’m used to the recoil + nostalgia. Idk, I’m more of a range person, something the AMAX even when kitted for range is an inferior AK.

buddermonger2000 exactly! People always look at stats and say the AK is amazing at range but whose hitting those shots consistently with such high recoil and not only that but missing shots penalizes a lot more since the rof is sooo slow.

The Amax was my go to when warzone had the realism mode. It was unreal. I never lost a gun fight at medium to long range

The AK-47 is very underrated. It’s actually good if you have the right attachments:
1. Compensater
2. RPK Barrel
3. Commando Foregrip
4. Stippled Grip Tape
5. Skeleton Stock
Feel free to switch some attachments up if you want. I have the Compensater because the recoil control but you can switch it with the Monolithic Suppresser. The recoil isn’t that bad with these attachments. The gun is a really good if you have the right attachments. Please give the gun a try. 🙂
Is the RPK Barrel + Commando Foregrip better than just Romanian barrel with its "built in" foregrip? I'm curious to see the recoil pattern for that since if the Romanian is better than i suppose it frees up an attachment.
I use Romanian, compensator, rubberised grip, 5,45 ammo and skeleton. I know 5,45 ammo reduces range, but it gives recoil control.
K G you could use the Romanian barrel but I like running the RPK barrel with commando because I love the feel of weapons when they have the Commando Foregrip. The recoil stabilization is really nice
samuel socha with your setup I feel like the ADS is way too slow and you have 3 recoil control so I like having a bit of recoil stabilization in the gun so I run the RPK, Comamndo Foregrip, and Compensater.
I feel like the perfect way to make the AK as good as the AMAX would be to just swap the recoil plots

Only at long range, looking at the damage profiles the AK is clearly for long range, so that would fit better, up close the AMAX would still dominate cause of that faster rate of fire

The 5.45 conversion does have a faster rate of fire, and better recoil which makes the AK much more competitive. But it doesn't have that much faster of a TTK compared to the CR56, and you need to equip an entire attachment to make it that way. + 30 rounds just isn't enough in warzone. It's not competitive there

I've been using the ak since launch and even in warzone u can outgun some of.the meta guns at range (not easy tho, those jumps sometimes kills u). However, when playing solos, u can just use the conversion kit, cuz u dont really need that much ammo, the ak reloads fast and u don't get those big jumps and it actually gives u really good ttk at close ranges. Summary, personally love the AK even more in solos, but have to admit the galil is more versatile.
I think the 5.45 might be better at range than the Galil
Add the compensator instead of mono suppressor. It’s a big sacrifice but the recoil becomes so easy. I’d say easier than the galil with compensator. I used both in warzone using the best attachments on both weapons except i swapped out the suppressor for the compensator for both and honestly I’d take the ak. That’s warzone of course. Very very hard hitting and the fast reload makes it into a baby PKM.
@@ajharmiah2692 Problem is everybody will pretty much know where you are... which is a big disadvantage in WZ. I used to mainly rock the compensator but got into so much fights that more often than not cost me the games, just for being on the radar non-stop when I fire the AK.
Todor Dikovski yeah I get you. But I’ve noticed to get away with having no suppressor is to have good positioning. Always on the move for flanks and being unpredictable. I’ve been able to get a good game by just positioning without using suppressor
@@ajharmiah2692 The suppressor I really only use for the velocity increase. Most weapons I don't really need the recoil but I may be running something that decreases velocity
I use them both regularly and love them both equally. For groundwar and multiplayer I prefer the Amax and for Warzone is all about the stock-less 75rd AK for me
Ever since it came out, the galil was my go-to weapon for warzone. I love it. Don't know why it got nerfed a week later bit it's still good

I've been interested in the concept referenced in this video regarding at what range most gunfights happen. Are there any programs that create a heat map of this sort of thing? I would love something that gets super crunchy with it down to 5-10 meter range increments with percentage breakdown such as, "in WZ 35% contact @ 0-10 meters, 20% contact @ 11-20 meters, 20% contact @ 21-40 meters, 15% contact @ 41-60 meters, 10% contact @ 61 meters +" etc.
9:40 you never talk about flinch ("Aim punch.") The combination of recoil and flinch makes guns like the AK extremely unusable unless you never get shot at. It is WAY too easy to win a gunfight against an AK user because all you need to do is hit them and their gun will aim everywhere else.

I almost never use the muzzle on AK, it already has a pretty good range. So instead, i use the stip grip for even more faster ads time. At least it helps the AK a bit on close-mid range battle

I've actually swapped it up and in 90% of multiplayer maps I'm using AMAX & Fennec. I find the AMAX is a pretty fun gun for all levels of engagements though, real clean iron sights as well. New seasons freshened it up for me!

The AK's place is using the conversion kit as a secondary weapon paired with a sniper in either solos or duos. It is very hard to outdamage within 0-25 meters or so. I like running it with the Kar98k sometimes. Same exact attachments Ace uses but with the 30 round conversion ammo instead of the 40 round mags. Gives you better recoil, a faster fire rate, and better ADS and movement speed because you're not running the 40 round mags. I've won many solos matches with this setup. Very underrated but an absolute no go for trios/quads.

Been runnin AMAX as my main since it came out. Haven't looked back.
One thing to note is that with the AK47 you can take off the skele stock and put on the VLK optic and use it at its effective range with even more recoil control and stabilization that the optic is proven to provide for whatever reason. Other than that another great analysis ^^
With the built in merc foregrip, does it have the same benefits like movement speed?
I have been trying to make a fast build [low ADS low recoil] with the AK but I haven't compared Amax along side it. So far it is promising with the AK but I will try and get something for AMAX started soon.

I still feel a jump on the amax, sometimes it's after 2 shots, sometimes 3 or 4 but it definitely jumps then settles down.
Wish you would have taken into consideration the other ammunition for the ak. I know it makes it more of an smg but it sure does kill very fast in warzone from close to mid range
Awesome ak warzone build: mono suppressor, merc grip, 40 round mags, tac laser, rubberised grip. Been using this recently, recoil is easy to manage and this way the gun is still somewhat nimble, as it has no bulky barrel. Worth a shot if u got the time
