I believe it’s because of Lucius’s fall from favor from the Dark Lord. Keep in mind he was one of Voldemort’a favorite followers until Lucius didn’t try to locate his master and his failure of recovering the prophecy from the Department of Mysteries. Lucius had Draco believing Voldemort holds the Malfoy family in high regard but now sees his who he truly is, an evil psychopath who sees his followers as expendable.

Ralph Fiennes delivered such a memorable and entertaining performance as Lord Voldemort. I couldn’t see anyone else playing him now. He was scary, cinematic and a little funny, just perfect.
I think Richard Bremmer did it better. The only flaw was the fact that the filmmakers gave him a nose when he played Voldemort. His voice also sounded exactly as it was described in the books, "High, clear, and cold." It also helped that he at least had a little red in his eyes when he played him in the Philosopher's Stone.
Pretty sure everyone had already picked up on this, but I believe this scene perfectly illustrates that Snape is the only one of Voldemort’s followers that he actually respects. Everyone else either follows him out of fear, or because they’re a bunch of racist bloodthirsty animals (sometimes literally like in the case of Fenrir Greyback :P). Snape however he see’s as a Kindred Spirit. An exceptionally gifted Half Blood wizard born to a Witch Mother, and an incompetent Muggle Father. Someone who shares his hatred of most everyone due to the mistreatment he suffered as a child.
I love food Actually originally during the first Wizard War (or the second if you count the war against Grindelwald) Snape really was a loyal and respected follower of Voldemort as we see here. Snape however learned that Voldemort intended to kill Lily Potter and her entire family because of a prophecy claiming that her child would one day rise up and defeat him. Because of this Snape went to Dumbledore begging him to save her life, and swearing that he would do anything to help him if he did. Dumbledore used this to make Snape his own double agent.
Voldemort has his equivalent of the "Dumbledore said calmly" meme here. He shouts at Wormtail for Ollivander shrieking in the basement but in the book he calmly says it.
The part where Voldemort start interacting with Lucius you can really see the similarities personality wise between him and his son, like they both put on a brave and strong front most of the time but once they are in real danger they immediately change and they are all scared and kinda pathetic looking. They usually have natural reasons to be afraid but it’s much more different than the type of person they are typically trying to appear as.

Snape just looks depressed the whole time, and the way he looks down after Voldemort kills her is even sadder, he was helpless in this situation, yet another person he cared about taken from him, and he couldn’t do a thing about it.
@Joe Whitehead No. After OOTP, Lucius was sent to Azkaban after failing to acquire the prophecy. Voldemort busted him out, and I imagine he is only keeping him around as an asset, especially after his failure to retrieve the prophecy. Lucius knows he's on limited time with Voldemort and will most likely be killed along with his family soon. He's fidgeting out of fear.
Most heartbreaking for me is that Snape thought his only real friend was dumbledore. He never thought people genuinly liked him and consider him as a friend. The realisation more people cared about him and got killed off instantly must break his heart.
Pay attention of how Snape was watching closely as Nagini was about to eat her, instead of looking away. What he had to do to further deceive Voldemort.
I love the scenes between Lucius and Voldemort. It's really surreal and cathartic watching a man who was once extremely proud, arrogant, pompous, and boastful, being reduced to a quivering, stuttering, terrified mess.
From this scene you can clearly see Snape, Yaxley and Bellatrix are the main lieutenants, Yaxley seemed to have a rise and kinda replaced Lucius in the pecking order after his failures. Lucius so smug in the earlier movies looks broken and scared here. Would have been interesting if Barty Crouch JR was also at the table, see how he would interact with the others I mentioned.

Alan Rickman's portrayal of Snape's face of shock when he saw his colleague captured and tortured but tried his darnest to keep composure until Voldemort called onto him was great.
I love the look on Voldemort's face after he snaps the silver snake head off Lucius' wand and then chucks it on the table. Just pure "you don't think I'd be caught dead poncing myself up like you, do you?" It fits with how he's always dressed in a simple black robe that's less extravagant than pretty much any other character's clothes. When you've got no need to show off, the lack of display is itself a display of power.

Lucius was Voldemort’s right hand man. But after giving away the diary Horcrux and the complete disaster at the Ministry, Voldemort punished him by sending Draco on a suicide mission, hijacking his house and stealing his wand.
Lucius even backchatted him in Goblet of Fire; I’m actually suprised Voldemort didn’t kill him sooner considering the amount of times he failed him, Peter Pettigrew did a lot better job than Lucius and that’s saying something
I'm not going to lie, Lucius's wand is one of my favorites. The snake head handle looks awesome! I could totally picture Tom using that kind of a wand too despite his expression in this vid implying he was thinking: "Dafuq is this shit" when tossing it aside.
Tom's wand style is very loose and flowing, which is probably the most advanced way to do magic. He barely grips the wand when he handles it. Lucius' wand is high class, but not good for nimble, quick magic what with the bottom-heavy handle. I imagine it being the difference between using a mace (Lucius' wand) versus using a sword.

So if Lucius' snake head wand was bottom heavy, it would flow much better. Imho Voldy just likes practicality over style, hence why he is dressed the way he is, doesn't bother with his appearance anymore and doesn't care for the wand aesthetics.

Although I do still think that, with something as small as a wand, the extra weight, whether top-heavy or bottom-heavy, would decrease its weildyness. It would require extra care to make sure it's balanced, whereas an unweighted wand like Voldy prefers can be handled by gripping the shaft virtually anywhere without having to worry about it being too off-balance.
Even though Voldemort trusts Snape, that little look at 4:40 is gauging Snape's reaction to the pleading from a colleague he knew for years. With Snape having just killed Dumbledore weeks before, Snape's non reaction here must have Voldemort only reinforcing his belief on Snape's loyalties having being a question mark for years.
3:54 One little detail that I noticed is how Nagini was resting by the fire place the entire time until she followed Voldemort to the table. This is because snakes are cold blooded and therefore attracted to heat. In fact reptiles, and more commonly snakes, sunbathe (bask) in the mornings to retain as much body heat as possible throughout the day. Don’t know if this reference was on purpose, but if it was, kudos to the production team for hinting this.
I love how Pius is trying so hard to choose his next words carefully and not shit bricks while a giant hungry python is staring at him 😂 The acting in the whole Harry Potter series is underrated asf

It's his own fault for getting involved with Voldemort in the first place and disappointed him when failing missions. The only ones I feel sorry for are his wife and son. Because of Lucius screwing up, Narcissa and Draco had to pay the price with him. Especially Draco who you can tell doesn't want to be a Death Eater but has no choice.
Watching this scene makes me feel horrible but bad for Snape and Draco think about it imagine being Draco's age and having to watch this and imagine being Snape he probably wanted to help that poor Teacher out

I love that what seems to be an informal meeting quickly turns into a fight to survive until the next day. Once Voldermort demands a wand, no one dares to step forward willingly, because failure (and a very possible one) means becoming Nagini's next meal. Not even Bellatrix dared to say something and she's battier than most.
It is so cool that even if Voldemort was a gifted clairvoyant and psychic, he did not sense right away that Snape was a double agent because Snape's motive was born out of love, something that is not felt nor understood by Voldemort.
The fact that charity didn't even get a dignified death shows you how truly evil Voldemort really is, it's bad enough to kill her but then to feed her to Nagini was just downright barbaric
Keep in mind the "eh he he" Voldemort is not just exultant after finally killing Potter after what, 17 years of trying, PLUS, he's a mess, psychologically and emotionally, because he's reduced to a fraction of what he used to be due to most of his horcruxes being destroyed by that point. @Joe Whitehead No. After OOTP, Lucius was sent to Azkaban after failing to acquire the prophecy. Voldemort busted him out, and I imagine he is only keeping him around as an asset, especially after his failure to retrieve the prophecy. Lucius knows he's on limited time with Voldemort and will most likely be killed along with his family soon. He's fidgeting out of fear.
Most heartbreaking for me is that Snape thought his only real friend was dumbledore. He never thought people genuinly liked him and consider him as a friend. The realisation more people cared about him and got killed off instantly must break his heart.
Pay attention of how Snape was watching closely as Nagini was about to eat her, instead of looking away. What he had to do to further deceive Voldemort.

I love the scenes between Lucius and Voldemort. It's really surreal and cathartic watching a man who was once extremely proud, arrogant, pompous, and boastful, being reduced to a quivering, stuttering, terrified mess.

From this scene you can clearly see Snape, Yaxley and Bellatrix are the main lieutenants, Yaxley seemed to have a rise and kinda replaced Lucius in the pecking order after his failures. Lucius so smug in the earlier movies looks broken and scared here. Would have been interesting if Barty Crouch JR was also at the table, see how he would interact with the others I mentioned.

Alan Rickman's portrayal of Snape's face of shock when he saw his colleague captured and tortured but tried his darnest to keep composure until Voldemort called onto him was great.
I love the look on Voldemort's face after he snaps the silver snake head off Lucius' wand and then chucks it on the table. Just pure "you don't think I'd be caught dead poncing myself up like you, do you?"
It fits with how he's always dressed in a simple black robe that's less extravagant than pretty much any other character's clothes. When you've got no need to show off, the lack of display is itself a display of power.

I'm not going to lie, Lucius's wand is one of my favorites. The snake head handle looks awesome! I could totally picture Tom using that kind of a wand too despite his expression in this vid implying he was thinking: "Dafuq is this shit" when tossing it aside.

Tom's wand style is very loose and flowing, which is probably the most advanced way to do magic. He barely grips the wand when he handles it. Lucius' wand is high class, but not good for nimble, quick magic what with the bottom-heavy handle. I imagine it being the difference between using a mace (Lucius' wand) versus using a sword.
@@ValseInstrumentalist Don't wanna be that guy here. But swords have the center of the mass near the grip while maces actually have it towards the end. So if Lucius' snake head wand was bottom heavy, it would flow much better. Imho Voldy just likes practicality over style, hence why he is dressed the way he is, doesn't bother with his appearance anymore and doesn't care for the wand aesthetics.

Although I do still think that, with something as small as a wand, the extra weight, whether top-heavy or bottom-heavy, would decrease its weildyness. It would require extra care to make sure it's balanced, whereas an unweighted wand like Voldy prefers can be handled by gripping the shaft virtually anywhere without having to worry about it being too off-balance.

Even though Voldemort trusts Snape, that little look at 4:40 is gauging Snape's reaction to the pleading from a colleague he knew for years. With Snape having just killed Dumbledore weeks before, Snape's non reaction here must have Voldemort only reinforcing his belief on Snape's loyalties having being a question mark for years.

This is because snakes are cold blooded and therefore attracted to heat. In fact reptiles, and more commonly snakes, sunbathe (bask) in the mornings to retain as much body heat as possible throughout the day. Don’t know if this reference was on purpose, but if it was, kudos to the production team for hinting this.

Looking back, I honestly felt kinda bad for Lucius. The dark lord came into his house, basically made it into his own headquarters and disrespected Lucius through and through. Snapped his wand, which is very significant to a wizard
It's his own fault for getting involved with Voldemort in the first place and disappointed him when failing missions. The only ones I feel sorry for are his wife and son. Because of Lucius screwing up, Narcissa and Draco had to pay the price with him. Especially Draco who you can tell doesn't want to be a Death Eater but has no choice.

Ralph Fiennes is such a brilliant actor. Only the finest actors could play a character that evil and complex- and Ralph is undoubtedly one of the best actors in the world and has been for decades. Quite honestly HP fans would have demanded that only one of the best actors in the world- an elite core of very few men- play Voldemort.

I love that what seems to be an informal meeting quickly turns into a fight to survive until the next day. Once Voldermort demands a wand, no one dares to step forward willingly, because failure (and a very possible one) means becoming Nagini's next meal. Not even Bellatrix dared to say something and she's battier than most.
It is so cool that even if Voldemort was a gifted clairvoyant and psychic, he did not sense right away that Snape was a double agent because Snape's motive was born out of love, something that is not felt nor understood by Voldemort.
The fact that charity didn't even get a dignified death shows you how truly evil Voldemort really is, it's bad enough to kill her but then to feed her to Nagini was just downright barbaric

Keep in mind the "eh he he" Voldemort is not just exultant after finally killing Potter after what, 17 years of trying, PLUS, he's a mess, psychologically and emotionally, because he's reduced to a fraction of what he used to be due to most of his horcruxes being destroyed by that point. Yeah he was a bit funny by the end but he was also as deranged as he ever was
