    With its new 850 Patriot engine leading the way, the 2019 Polaris 850 Pro-RMK should stop anybody from ever again saying Polaris is underpowered.
    This motor is not a punched out Liberty motor; it is all new. Polaris spent four years developing, testing, breaking, and testing again and again this motor to assure it is strong enough to meet mountain rider demands. In discussing this motor with several Polaris insiders, the field-test engineers subjected the Patriot Pro-RMK to every conceivable condition mountain riders toss their sleds into: sub-zero days, hot days, thin air elevation days, humid days, dry days, and no snow riding-out-in-the-pasture days.
    By seat of the pants, the motor has a strong mid-range and a fat beefy hit out from its mid-range revolutions to peak RPM. When we first rode the Patriot, the Liberty motor and the new Patriot, launched out from the hole the same then the Patriot overran its Liberty brother. Yet, as Polaris finalized its calibrations for 6,000 to 8,000 feet and beyond, the Patriot 850 launches much harder, treating the Liberty 800 like the Liberty 800 treats the Liberty 600.

    just hearing about how the company designs, tests and looks at every spot for improvement, impresses me so much and keeps me excited to see and hear about the next model every year.

    Something I learned 30 years ago. NEVER Buy a first year model change sled! There's always a learning curve and sleds can be duds .No matter the manufacture. I'll wait till year two or three to buy a new sled.
    Love the 170 hp.. love the narrow ski stance though.

      First year sleds are either rockets or duds. If they are fast they will de-tune them and if they are duds there will be pages of updates.

      I agree with your statement but for anything, not just sleds. I would never buy the newest of anything with a motor unless it utilizes a setup that has been fully tested prior and doesn't sacrifice durability in design.

    Problem is that the doo 850 has 4 injectors, the body and engine was designed together. And he said the engine has more power then the doo but when they dyno'd it and it has 160 the doo 170 sooooooo ?

    • @collinlamont3855
      @collinlamont3855 Před 5 lety +4

      Seen a dyno run from Bikeman yesterday and after the motor was heat soaked it was right at 170 HP

      TrakSpock1 ya it seems the obsession over weight savings and ride have out weighed durability. What about the new cats? Any known problems?

      All of Polaris’s top ends can last longer than 1500 miles most last to 5000 at least. You think they have a major problem because of what you see on the internet but the thing is everyone posts bad things on the internet and you never see anyone post when they hit high mile marks. My 2015 pro rmk last to 5500 mile with me doing absolutely no servicing to it (which I should have).

      BC Beast Every manufacturer is designing and testing things years before it comes to the market. I guarantee ski doo was testing their 850 at least 4 years before the release. They completely redesigned this engine so durability is totally unknown. Polaris likes to make a big deal about normal things so that uninformed buyers think they are getting something groundbreaking and revolutionary. I'm sure it's a better engine but it's really not as amazing as they want you to believe by over advertising standard industry practices. It is new and untested by the public so I would wait 2-3 years until they get it perfected before buying one.

      So what your saying you should wait for the doo's 850 to be out for a few yrs too? Or has theirs been proven the first winter out.
