So what do you think about the Judge? 😁 Thanks for watching!!!
First relpy
I have ways liked them. I prefer the magnum that takes the 3 inch shells.
They are fantastic and fun, at 2-7 yards they can be downright amazing!
You do need the 3 inch or longer barrel too. The snub nosed ones might as well have no muzzle.
I dont think I'd use it against poisonous snakes
It works a lot better with Noblesport 40cal buckshot. 3 pellets in 2 1/2 and 4 in 3 inch. Tighter patterns
Found a Kriss Vec?
"Oh, the recoil's not too bad on that" says the guy who regularly shoots revolvers chambered for rifle rounds. I'm not sure I trust your judgement on that one Scott.
Lol
Not trustworthy
kevlarandchrome gamadh The recoil isn’t bad at all bud. Can vouch.
I can vouch too this is my EDC and the recoil is really nothing (and I’m very skinny)
@@CrCaptain yeah, but when scott says that the recoil is not bad, don't trust, that guy is the guy that shoot a snub nose .500 s&w with one hand and laugh.
My brother is a retired Deputy Sheriff and he carries this monster concealed. Vast majority of gun fights are up close and personal.
I'm waiting for the Taurus executioner in 12 gauge
Is this s real thing?
Maybe Rossi will come out with the Bailiff and Berretta the solicitor general and the Barrister. Lol.
They need a Judge Judy edition
ajay jayaraj it only shoots 22 LR but it makes a lot of noise
Only in flintlock... don't try to fool those ATF boys or they will publish a new regulation on your ass... and by executive privilege forget about reading the comments! Remember the new ATF director is an anti-gunner and AG Billy Barr has ordered strict and vengeful enforcement of everything and anything on yourass!
The Judge was designed as an up close personnel defense pistol. How about a test at a distance from the driver's seat in a car to just outside the passenger side window or from leaning away from the driver's side door to just outside the driver's side window. This, along with confined space attacks and muggings is what it was made for.
It's a great example of Judge work. Highlights something most reviewers tend to mistakenly do. They walk far back from the target with what is meant to be a close quarters weapon. It misses nothing from 10-20 feet out. Which when you think about it, is how close you will likely be when someone breaks into your house and/or tries mugging you. If he got a bit closer to the targets all his shots would have been on point.
4 years changes a man. Far fewer dinosaurs, eggplants, and broken tables. 😂
Judge is for very close range defence
Perfect for car jackers face full of buckshot
Rifling makes buckshot spread crazy
Pick up some federal 000 buck loads. Unlike other brands, the federal 000 loads are encased in a wad that acts like a sabot and pattern very tight from the judge. They turn the judge from a novelty to a legitimate SD option
Correct there are a few .410 loads specifically tailored to these pistols unlike shooting 410 ment for long guns.
Except that when people test these things, including the simple tests Hickock45 did czcams.com/video/qRlry5KH6I0/video.html it seems like the buckshot you shoot is not really up for the task at hand. You are shooting .410, out of a gun that has 1/4th of a normal shotgun barrel. Also consider that .410 is really only seen as a deer round if you are shooting slugs.
If you are using .410 buck, most will agree that if you are hunting, you are going after rabbits, rodents of different sizes and similar sized targets. So if most hunters view .410 shot as a round for rabbits, why do people think it will make for a good defensive round against humans?
anvior45 the judge would definitely drop someone. Just wouldn’t be “humane” these would kill a deer no doubt, but not in a humane fashion.
@@anvior45 it's not 2011 anymore
@@baja8566 What has happened then? .410 is still a round for rabbits and squirrels. Some ammunition manufacturers have released new ammunition... But new ammunition does not change the fact that it is a rabbit round: A rabbit round fired from a very short barrel with a cylinder gap unlike a normal .410 shotgun.
Gotta use the shot shell ammo made specifically for handguns. Hornady Critical Defense .410, Winchester PDX, or the 000 Buck loaded for the handgun (Federal, Remington). You will get much better results. Ditch the birdshot, that just does not work in this gun.
Ok thanks. I just figured this gun was useless.
Can cause this firearm to lock up, and not fire.Pdx is made for these ,from winchester
@@eliasshedd Nope, the gun is on another level when you use the right stuff. They even make a specific Lehigh round for the longer Judge cylinder. It's one of the worst wound channels I've seen in my life and nothing else will shoot it but the judge or governor
@@bmx7596 Yeah saw what that round did in gel. Opens up to look like a freakin ninja star. A judge loaded with that will give you a death sentence.
The Judge is a close quarters defensive arm. I agree not worth much for than that except for the fun factor :) Thanks Scott!
The rifling is causing the 000 buckshot to "swirl" and pattern all over the place. Keep them coming!
Hello from Oklahoma! As you found out doing this video, the judge and their ilk are short range weapons for self defense. Ten yards is considered long range. Six to eight feet is about right. This thing is great to carry in snakey areas while fishing. I like to fire mine in single action mode if possible. Good video! Loved it! Thank You!

As others have said the .410 handgun loads are tailored for the judge/governor, I just recently got the governor and it did great with federal handgun .410
I've always pictured that revolver as filling the same spot as a derringer, up close and almost touching the target.
True. Only effective out to 10-15 feet
Ya but if your that close do u need a low pressure shotgun? A magnum would definitely do more damage. Like a 357 or a .44 then u could also shoot specials. If It has to be a belly gun why use a heavy steel shotgun revolver? The theory is for more likely hits if your not the best shot but it’s so bad it won’t even hit at 25 yds cuz it spreads so bad. So u gotta be really close so close u don’t need a weak shotgun. Sales gimmick! “Ya but it shoots 45lc”. Expensive hard to find low pressure ammo atleast u can get those in blackpowder I guess it’s neat to shoot out a cloud of smoke…
3inch spread at 21ft for federal buckshot.
I’ve a stainless Judge Magnum and love it. It’s very accurate with 45 LC, like you discovered, but somehow the powder wads make the shotgun slugs very inaccurate. My wife even shoots bullseyes at the range at 15-yards with it (.45LC) so she doesn’t mind the recoil.
Pretty interesting to see the difference in accuracy between different rounds. Good video!
FYI, if you shoot buckshot out of a rifled barrel the rifling throws it everywhere. Try patterning on a 3-foot by 3-foot sheet of paper with a rifled 12 gauge slug barrel and using buckshot at about ten feet away, very few pellets will hit the paper.
I just got back from a trip to Alaska. The old guy who took me out in a Can Am side-by-side into the wilderness, carried a Judge as his sidearm.
The judge is best utilized in six inch barrel with federal triple buck handgun loads for tight grouping even at ten yards
Also in this barrel length any Quality 45 round will be accurate
My father owns a Judge like the one you described, great gun
I agree.. “handgun” loads being a key word here. People keep missing that bit of information. Use the ammo designed for this gun and you’ll get a much better pattern and penetration as shown by shootingthebull410 channel .. 17” penetration in gel with tighter groupings.. all cause the right ammo was selected “Federal 000 Handgun”
most any slugs rip fire rounds need to proceed u p. a pigs ayse
Interesting stuff. Good choice in ammo for a thorough understanding of how the Judge works best.
Scott’s the recoil king.
Scott, the "Judge" never has advertised as a "tack driver". It is more of a close quarters defensive pistol. Look at the rifling in the barrel. It is very shallow in order to NOT cause too much spin on the shot wads. I would be more interested in your results in the use of the Winchester PDX1 defense shells.
My wife carries a Tarus Judge "Public Defender" in 2 1/2 in cylinder. It is loaded with Winchester PDX1 shells in the first two holes with 45LC Hornady Critical Defense bullets in the last three.
I do like your videos, keep it up.
I run same gun and set up with the exception of the 46LC, I have slugs instead but will be buying some 45Lc soon enough.
@@PsychoticGenius yep 45 colt out the judge stomps 410 slugs out a judge , a full size shotgun is different a course. And I'm not say even out a judge 410 slugs can be deadly still , but i would always put my money on a 45 colt out a judge vs a slug .
I carry mine with the first two .410 Hornaday Triple Defense and the last three with .45 LC.
Picture a car jacker at 1 foot with #6 Shot.
All the Kings Men and all the Kings Horses won't be able to put him together again!
Most self defense battles are 2-7 yards.
@@FLsheepdog1 And are over in 2 to 3 rounds max no matter what the "I EDC 3 x 16 round mags 'course if ya don't y'all ain't prepared" crowd like to think.
@@FLsheepdog1 the 410 triple defense never gets through the five rounds without getting jammed in my Taurus judge revolver 3 innch barrel. The shell is getting stuck in transition to the next shell. Has this ever happened to you?
Your grouping will be much better if using .410 loads specifically made for these hand guns rather then a traditional shot gun. Winchester PDX1 has a specific load for the .410 handguns.
Shooting this gun is a lot of fun, especially with the shells! I only got to shoot it because my dad has one, I'm about to turn 20 and I cannot wait to be 21 so I can buy some firearms, the Judge will be one of them for sure
My Dad and Grandpa both have one of these, they are awesome
Hey Scott, if you want (possibly) better performance try out the PDX1 Defender 410 series shot from Winchester. They are suppose to be a more accurate round out of the Judge I have heard. Great videos, thank you so much for all your content!
You know how many homeless sea creatures could’ve lived in those pineapples?
naw its birdfood
Do they live in bikini bottom?
Probably none
I have the same exact Judge. Finish and all. What you need to get for The Judge is the grip made by ATI. Absolutely awesome and for $30 makes everything about this revolver so much better.
Really happy you run that as a dual action, most shooters forget that is even a thing and cock the hammer manually in the name of accuracy. It doesn't matter much if you are a good shooter
We've used the judge in our videos as well! Great gun and thanks for the awesome content!
To all the thumbs down people...grow a pair!
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
The people who put thumbs down are the same ones who will be crying for help later on.
Well, my main critique is the distance that he is shooting from. The Judge is fantastic at near point blank range. Outside of 3-5 yards, it becomes much less effective. Hence its nickname "the anti-carjacking gun"
@@TexZenMaster It puts the personal in Personal Defense Weapon.
@@jeffreyhutchins6527
Technically totally incorrect nomenclature, but I like the cut of your jib.
I have a stainless steel judge that has been Cerakoted. I carry it with Hornady Critical Defense when in the back country out west. At home it has Winchester Defender. It is a fantastic weapon.
I have a judge with a 6'' barrel &I shoot the Federal premium handgun ammo triple 000 buck. The patterns are extremely tight,by far the best ammo I have found for these guns.I was very impressed.I shot some of the same triple 000 buck you shot & they were pathetic. These pistols are extremely ammo sensitive, with the right ammo these pistols are very effective.
I’ve had a judge for a number of years, I’ve liked it as a snake pistol and the 45 Long colts are good too!
What load do you use for snakes?
I love my judge. Its alot of fun. I too have found that 45 are way more accurate
With the proper wad-retention type ammo, designed as a self-defense round, the Judge is accurate @3-5yards. .45lc has fair accuracy @10-12 yards. That's really all this gun is designed for. Mine is kept loaded with PDX1, to be used as my nightstand gun while RVing.
Thanks for the video Scott ! ☺♥
This firearm is for use at spitting distance.
Makes sense since most self defense scenarios happen within 10-15 feet
It's actually accurate at 12 yards when you use the right ammo made for the handgun, none of it was used in this video.
Hey Scott, Federal 000 buck patterns much tighter than the Remington does from my Bond Arms. You might try it out
Right on Scott! I've always wanted one, and you sir have Finally convinced me to pull the trigger on Purchasing one
I love going back to your older videos.
I have the same judge except it's got a different finish, done a lot of testing and 3 inch number fours would be excellent for carjacking defense because when you shoot out the glass of the windows of your car all of that shrapnell is heading in the direction of the dirtbags. The judge is designed specifically for close range work.
I cant figure out why these clowns dont know this. The cap head doesnt help testing at a far range,
Cool video!
Thanks!

I have the 2 3/4 Judge and it is a lot of fun to shoot.
Thanks for your video! I have one coming and this video helped me a lot. Looks like I should stick with the 45 colt, but can’t resist the 410 shot shells!!! Tc from Nevada
The judge is great for people who cant hit the target with a conventional gun and single bullet. You cant miss with that spread.
True story that looks like my table whe my friends come over to eat 8:36 😂😂😂😂
Watching these shows how far Scott's showmanship has come in over the three years 'till now.
You look a lot younger in this as well mate 😛
I fish where rattlesnakes live on occasion. I feel a bit more comfortable with my Judge on my hip when I am walking in the brush and rocks. Snakes 10 feet away or less can be a bother. They need Judgement. I have a 44 magnum if I hike in bear, big cat country. The judge flings leads as it was designed to do.
Its basically 2 guns in one. A critter gun with the shot rounds and a defense gun that can hit with .45 or slugs bullets 25 yards away just gotta select round for the situation. Thanx for the video.
Bow and arrow vs stretch Armstrong please??
Very honest demonstration. When using a spread pattern it seems you need to know just how many yards is best. Yet for close up personal protection all the ammo you used would be great.
Really great video man!
I'll really love to see a comparison between the judge and the S and W governor!
Also more videos about the dragon's breath shells will be awesome!💖💖💖

Perfect for home defense 👍
I couldnt have found a better review for this exact gun and with the hornady ammo. Just perfect👌
I just saw the thumbnail and instantly thought "how many wrists has that thing broken or sprained?"
EDIT: I thought this was a more streamlined model of the S&W 500 magnum.
The Taurus Judge is the perfect name due its number 1 characteristic....Blind Justice. You'd be lucky to hit a shithouse if you were in it!
Using loads specifically tailored to these hand guns makes a big difference in accuracy. That being said they aren't great for home or self defense.
Idk man in case of a home invasion the spread would be good. An even just getting hit with one pellet of buckshot would make me think twice
@@tl5108 Just use a 12 gauge with 18 inch defense barrel. Cheaper and much much better stopping power.
@@RebelRob34 can't carry that in ur coat pocket though.
@@tl5108 My response was to "home invasion", so then carry a 45 or any other "real" revolvers. I meant for home defense this is a silly gun.

I bought the judge when it first came out because I was curious of it. It now works better as a boat anchor
Taurus raging judge magnum
That's where it's at. My 3" is the easiest shooting magnum revolver I've ever shot. My wife calls it the Clown Gun, because it's so absurdly proportioned, but I love it.

Digital camo, green, black, tan.
Make a video of different 410 shells.. crazy/best ones out there
A great beside the bed piece , don't have to worry about missing in the dark after just waking up !
High brass #6 or 410 handgun Critical defense , 45 long colt loads work best . #4 looks like it did good job aswell
Let's be honest in your house a 5 yard pattern is probably all you'll ever need anyway .
All these people saying I'd rather have this or that pppfffttt , ok Annie Oakley, in the dark, in your house , close quarters scared out of your mind , after just waking up are you really going to be able to aim perfectly , with this gun you could be 2 ft off with your first shot and probably still put an intruder down .
There's a big difference between being able to hit a small can of shaving cream and a human body .
Never wasted my time with a judge.
That gun is a beast and it looks the part as well. Great video man love this channel.

8:38 Totally with you! So funny.
The .410 round is for close quarters. And it works a lot better with .410 rounds made for these pistols as opposed to standard .410 rounds for shotguns. Also, People seem to forget that the gun also shoots .45 colt even though these demos show that.
This is a good gun (I have one). Especially at close range.
Pretty cool gun for plinking around the shooting range, would buy.

I have a Judge, but in my opinion it's a middle of the night break in type of gun. Close quarters when you know it isn't someone you know and you need to hit a target. I use Winchester Defender rounds in mine. That's all mine is for as I don't find much fun in shooting it.
