I Went To The "Dum"est Place In India (

- India is more than just a country. It's like a universe in of itself: the culture, religion, languages and everything else is all completely unique. Even the English they speak! And there was no better place to explore than Kolkata (Calcutta), India's former capital.
It's known as one of the most crowded and chaotic cities in the country. They mainly speak Bengali, not Hindi. And in spite of it's history of educational achievement, it has a very Dum....Dum neighborhood that I wanted to explore.

Sorry on this video I was using a new camera and accidentally had the "zoom" function on half the time because I'm a dum dum. Not a big deal but at times you'll have to bear with a closeup on my incredibly handsome face.
Lol
Not Bengali, most of them speak Hindi. Bengali is just for one part of the country whereas Hindi is used everywhere.
Maybe you are in that region where they speak Bengali mostly. Once you come out of that area you'll know.
Just say Namaste to everyone, you'll be fine
You mean it wasn't a deliberate artistic decision to emphasize the claustrophobic like experience that would be navigating that market? Could've fooled me
All that constant noise would drive me insane
My ears ringing already just from watching 5 min. into this video ^^
Cars in India can be without rearview mirrors, but they cannot be without horns.
There are two countries that I will never step my foot in and those are USA and India. India, in particular, is a large bulky waste country. What a shitland, they really need to do something about it.
Spend some significant time in India and you will miss it when you leave, everywhere else feels lifeless. One woman refused to go to the UK because it felt like a prison how quiet it is and I totally understood her coming back after six months in India.
after a few days, you don't notice the noise and insanity. Just like in Western countries, you don't notice how silent and eerie the suburbs are (esp in the US). Its what you are used to
Good job Tommy! Awesome video 🤙🏼

As someone who lives in India, that constant honking is overwhelming for me too. That's why I still haven't been able to ride bikes.

@@AltOurCumrade So you want to say that most places are quite and a few olaces are noisy like these!? I've travelled Mumbai, Surat, Chennai, Mangalore, Bangalore, Kolkata, Patna, Kanpur, Lokhna, Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Srinagar, Jamshedpur, Barasat, Purulia, Punjab, Kochi, Bhubaneswar, Varanasi ! I travelled slum and non-slum both areas around those cities. Noise pollution feels like almost same to me as well. I just found some posh areas of those cities quite & calm.
I suggest you to visit cities of China, Thailand, Brazil, Mexico. You will experience the difference about noise pollution among those and Indian ones as well. Man, I can assure you that the cities of those countries are more more & calm compared to the Indian cities. You can check by yourself, if you don't want to believe me.
I love your unedited natural vlogs.

DumDum got its name from the locals. It used to house the British barracks and locals got used to the sounds of Canons firing up which sounded Dom Dom and thats how the place got its name.
It was later on settled by mostly refugee families from Bangladesh (Then East Bengal/East Pakistan).
Thats how the place got very congested. It has improved somewhat in recent years, it was much worse when i grew up there.
A native Dum Dum-er! Thanks for the explanation
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!! E DUM DE DUUUUMMM DUUUUUUMMM!
During the 19th century the area was home to the Dum Dum Arsenal, a British Royal Artillery facility. It was here that, in the early 1890s, Captain Neville Bertie-Clay developed a bullet with the jacket cut away at the tip to reveal its soft lead core (see hollow-point bullet), known informally as a dum-dum[4][5][6][7][8][9] or more correctly as an expanding bullet. The previous name of Dum Dum was "Domdoma".
Some resources claim that the Persian word damdama, which means "mound" or "elevated battery," is the source of the word Dum Dum.------------from wikipedia
You mention Bangladesh. Do you know why Bangladesh citizens are so keen on staring at foreigners? Its actually a good place if u explore the right areas (which unfortunately India doesn't care to advertise, you'll have to find uself but still why wud anyone take that pain). Some places in India are actually better than France (or Europe in general), especially Paris which I still consider an overrated and unsafe city from my experience!😅

Bengal is actually the worst india can offer, its literally a shithole in many places, but india is not only bengal, there are 27 more states.
