Is Israel As Bad As They Say? I Went To Find Out (

- What would you do if you knew that missiles would be flying at your city everyday? That's the reality that both Israelis and Palestinians face in late 2023, in the latest phase of their never-ending conflict. Most people are wise enough not to fly to a country during an active war, but sadly that wasn't me. Like the rest of the world, I was deeply interested in the events happening in the Holy Land, and I wanted to go there myself to better understand the situation.
It's the most polarizing conflict on earth: many people absolutely hate one of the two sides and cheer on the other. I only had one agenda while filming in Israel and the Palestinian territories: to understand the people. To do that, my plan was to travel everywhere, from the skyscrapers of Tel Aviv, to the streets of Ramallah, and finally to the edge of Gaza.
This was going to be one hell of an adventure. I ask that you try to do just one thing as we travel along: keep an open mind.

i wanna say this is existential journalism, deliverance of the being there , of the perspective of how does it feel to be there, which to me is so important in the attempt of understanding any phenomenon. this is usually where we fail, as humans, we succumb to our pre-judgments enabling them to take over as our means of perception closing ourselves from any real encounter whith any other. this video is an amazing journey of how to avoid that and enable the acute problems to float up as they are, the testimony of the soliders about their experience in gaza is starteling showing their agony and the palestinians in the most humane way possible. thank you very much

Hello, I tend not to talk politics, but the outbreak of this war has forced me to recognize the reality of what you also have to live under as Israelis. The constant threat of another rocket barrage, another aimless ‘amaliyyeh’ (when a knife or gun attack happens against Israeli civilians), another air raid siren were things you were likely used to. But the repugnant war crimes committed on Simchat Torah 2023 have opened up a whole new layer of existential dread.
As an Arab Muslim, I cannot bring myself to justify any of the atrocities that have been committed against your people. Excuse me for the things you have had to endure and I hope that each and every one of your kidnapped countrymen and women return home.
Haifa is NOT the most northern city in Israel. But I really applaud the raw-ness of your approach. This is great stuff.
But it IS... The rest are towns and villages. Just because your local administration has city credentials, doesn't make it a city. There's a difference in meaning between the words city and town for exactly that reason. Perhaps you would be more satisfied if he had said "northernmost _major_ city"...
@@lukearts2954 The issue arises from Israel having no designation other than "city" or "local council" - so while Haifa is the northenmost city in Israel by Israeli standards, there are Israeli towns north of Haifa which are referred to as "cities" in Hebrew.
@@buttsufancypantsu1644 oh, so it's the other way around. That makes the OC even worse, because last I checked, we're not speaking Hebrew here... hahaha. The way you put it is clear: Haifa _is_ the northernmost city in Israel, by Israeli standards. That's all we need to know. Thanks :)

the moment you came to ashkelon i burst into tears, it's been my city for 30 years, i grew up under rocket fire for about 25 of those. i suffer from severe ptsd after 2001 where i was one of the teenagers in the delphinarium terror attack, surviving only because i felt sick and had to leave earlier. i am now abroad after my family sent me away and every day i'm glued to the home front command app, following up with any attack that happens, even all the way here i can't detach myself from the terror and anxiety. 'm happy to see my city is still as beautiful, even if it is severely devoid of the life and bustle it had before that black sabbath.
Oh, I'm so sorry. Sending you love and strength from a fellow Jew in California.
Did you ever once speak out about the endless horrors that Israel visits upon the Palestinian people? Did you care about them or only about yourself and the consequences? Even now, do you care about the civilians being massacred, living in endless terror trapped in a concentration camp which you never had to experience on a daily basis, when you got to have nice functioning hospitals, sanitation, care, clean water, food, a toilet.
and to clarify, I am a Jew, from a country that is not currently keeping anyone in concentration camps. It's very hard for me to have sympathy for people who are doing that to others for decades and then complain of consequences which don't even come close to the horror and loss they inflict on others.
@@aryastark3148 Why are they behind Hamas. Hamas is a violent, hateful organization THAT STARTED THE WAR! Why can't you see that?
One sided as ever. Have you ever contemplated why Palestinians want you dead? Have you ever contemplated why Israel even exists? Ashkenazi converts to Judaism created a homeland for the most hated and greedy people on the planet because they have out stayed their welcome in almost every country they have lived in. The Ashkenazi have almost zero DNA links to the land that they welcome all Jews "back to". The real tragedy is that real Jews, religious ones, have also had to endure the labels of greedy, grasping parasites. Unsurprisingly these real Jews are largely opposed to Zionism. Before Zionism Jews, Muslims and Christians lived peacefully together in Palestine for centuries but when your neighbour steals your land and your water and puts you in a concentration camp something has to give.

I find the fact that the diversity culture in Israel is extremely impressive! It looks second right next to the US in terms of that. Israeli's, Palestinians, Ukrainian's, Russian's, Argentinian's, so on so forth, and they all seem to be very passionate about the country they live in! It's very impressive!
Also Ethiopian Jews and Arab Jews\ Middle Eastern Jews (like the ones in the car)
not all of them, no, don't delude yourself. every time a terror attack happens, we always get a bunch of citizens, of a certain religion, making happy posts. these are the biggest hypocrites
We israelis don't like talking about this diversity, we are all Jews and the color of your skin shouldn't matter
Israel sterilized Ethiopian Jews without their knowledge or consent as recently as 2013. Rights in Israel are assigned based on your nationality, not your citizenship, so if your nationality isn't Jewish you are not equal. Israel is an ethnocracy--don't be fooled just by seeing diverse people on the street.

As long as people are able to live in their own country (Israel) in peace, the Israeli people are the best neighbors there are. Pity there are those that try to displace and condemn them because of their animosity and unwillingness to come to a compromise. The people fighting in combat would rather sit in comfort with their respective families enjoying the land they worked so hard to build, but instead, they are the reluctant heroes who have to fight for everything they possess when all they really wish and aspire to is to live in the land of their forefathers in peace.
Very selfish thinking.. a land they worked hard for by displacing and killing others so they can have a jewish state.. very sick indeed
The Palestinians would like the same--just to live in peace where they lived for thousands of years but they do not have equal rights. That's all they want.
Palestinians too would like to enjoy the land they worked so hard to build before it was forcibly taken from them in 1948. And they would be far more willing to come to a compromise and raise their children in peace now if that option were not continually thwarted by Israeli policy.
As a Cambodian American, I applaud Israel for building a nation with the odds stacked against them. A desert land surrounded by countries that hate them.I do know a thing or two about terrorizers who maskerate as the heroes. These terrorizers in Cambodia (Khmer Rogue) would continue to say they are the freedom fighters even though they had no credentials or examples. They built nothing but continued to say that their vision is better because they would get rid of the colonizers. We bit their message. We fell for their dialogue. The so called freedom fighters forced civilians to work in the fields for the "greater good." In the end, millions of people died. No, not the colonizers but their own Cambodian people who they said they fought for. Who would've thought the "freedom fighters" who built nothing led the nation to turmoil (sarcasm). A nation that was going to thrive held back 30 years.
Don't bite the radicals dialogue. Stay true to who you are and continue the greatness of Israel.

This is amazing!!! Thanks for sharing!! The BIG Picture ❤
Was there in early April traveling throughout > Participated in 1 of the many Mass Protests there in front of Gov Administration Bldg in Tel Aviv > must have been at least 100K in the streets which many were of course shut down due to Event > was among the most cathartic experiences I've ever had > a very Peaceful Protest that went for approx 4 hours before ppl began to walk home....was immediately after the Sabbath that was during Passover/Easter wknd in April
"Just travelin the world while it burns" > Fantastic stuff as always Tommy 🙏
Glad you were there. I was there, too. On some Saturday summer nights, there were closer to 200,000 of us. Yet no matter the political stripe, we all sang "Hatikvah" together, along with Israel Police officers mostly chilling on the sidelines. Israelis continue to be filled with hope. In fact, like the name of the national anthem, we may be "The Hope."
what was the protest about
@@mmgg1671 > when I was there (April '23) it was protesting against Netanyahu who continues lobbying to hang onto power for an indefinite period...& also I believe something to do with how their Judges are appointed/Tenure on the Bench if I recall...not unlike most Dictators & their Regime
Hi Tommy, I just found your channel by chance. I am Israeli living in Israel. Thank you for visiting my country, and for giving us a chance. I hope you had a wonderful time. Next time you come, hopefully there will not be war and you will be able to see Israel in all her glory. It will be a pleasure and an honour to meet you, and I will be more than happy to show you around Tel Aviv. Safe travels.
You sick sociopathic people, you even shamed saten himself,by blocking life saving aid the the savivers of ethnic cleansing and genocide of Gazans who had nothing to do whith 7 October
He's not taking a side, but he's taking a side.
If he was able to get into the Gaza Strip I think he would go and if he did his video would be full of the same stuff, people being nice to each other..
I think he just loves people.
not really. just not pissing people off in their back yard as a guest. Watch the next episode...
@@nisnga147 yeah. settlers have overstayed their welcome.
This is way cool. Thank you for sharing this experience. God bless Israel 🇮🇱
Videos like this are gripping. The fact that you have turned into almost a journalist at this point is very impactful in learning more about the world. They remind me of early vice videos. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
Excellent Content. More reliable than the state controlled media provides back home.
Gaza is Military Controlled and Brutal Apartheid Rule over the Palestinians
and u think this isnt
@@mooseman8113And you think it is? Based on what troll?
You really get a feel for the place.
Everybody seems chill.
That speaks volumes louder than hate slogans and propaganda.
Nice job:)
It's chill if you're in Apartheid state, even South Africa was chill for white people back in the day
Nice video, thank you
Appreciate the perspective on this terrible conflict. Hope to see an end to it soon
I’m so proud of you speaking many languages without a translation, may God with you travels safely.
Thanks!
Appreciate it!
Israelis have the best hospitality ever. When I was a teen and early twenties and traveled I got invited to so many homes, to eat, to sleep over etc etc. Even in my fifties got invited to spend a weekend with a family. Spent Shabbat with them. So much kindness and warmth. My heart is forever with Israel. ❤️🇮🇱🇮🇱💗
I stand with Israel 🇮🇱❤️🇮🇱❤️🇮🇱❤️🇮🇱
You are brainwashed , from 🇪🇬
You are definitely one of the best vloggers out there right now. More power to you, dude.
He will only be the best when he tries to bribe villagers in Bolivia with a bag of cash and travel thru the jungle of Panama ..als bold and bankrupt .. however his Tanzania and renting a girlfriend are pretty epic 😂😂😂
My favorite travel dude!
@@ethancardinal1876but what defines the best. The most popular? Yes sure. But he is being himself. I like them both on different levels.
he really is
If he would've gone to GAZA? HE WOULD DEFINITELY BE THE GOAT! 😅😅😅
All these people saying unsub and stuff is crazy, he’s going to palestine next! Just because he’s in Israel doesn’t mean he’s pro Israel and vice versa.
Yeah, people are THAT stupid.
Funny how showing what Israel is like is “propoganda” without even having watched the video.
They just want both of these countries to exist as caricatures in their heads or something.
Oh yes it does. Listen to the way he talks. Just another yankee who thinks Israelis can do no wrong and LOVES genocide
Many people here in the USA watch the news and think they are hearing the truth when in reality they did not learn a thing, but rather got passionate opinions from talking heads. It never ceases to amaze me that with the huge budgets and salaries of the news organizations we get no content.
@@ccrider8483 most news stations have very skewed agendas!
May god protect all the soldiers of israel 🇮🇱❤️
Israel is not the only country under constant active threat from a neighbor. Taiwan, the Philippines, and Armenia come to mind too, but the list is much longer than that.
iran, Ethiopia, south sudan...
it feels like wars will never end. even though we evolved and educated ourselves so much, we still haven't figured it out, how to make peace in the world. it is sad.
Thank you for sharing this and for what you are about to share. Showing both sides, if possible without the prejudice of news media opinions. Appreciate the way you approach this. Stay safe. Blessings to you, your friends and family. May love shine through all of this.
Most travel blogs I have seen were the South American ones, how they live, the cities and especially the people, but most CZcamsrs are often superficial.
Coincidentally maybe...I came across your channel today, your last episode on the Holy Land...what a great episode.
The way your story is conveyed is as if I were there, the atmosphere, the tension, I almost miss the smell....
You have sparked my interest, I want more☝
Thank you for documenting all this and posting it. At least all the people in Israel are not hating. May you be safe.
That was really good. I think the perspective of a 'guy from New York' helps to show people in a natural way that a big news organisation couldn't.
you are now officially a journalist. like your work.
Citizen journalists are the future , legacy media is dying
I have learned more about Ukraine from watching Bald and Bankrupt's series there long before the war started, and anybody can learn more about Israel by watching this video than they could from a lifetime of BBC or CNN.
Geeze man, stay safe. Thanks for sharing this experience. Love to the World.
Thank you for visiting Israel, hope you had a good time 😊
Yemakh shemo
This dude is everywhere. Lets checout this content. Be safe
I've learned more about Israeli from your videos than anywhere else Thank you.
You know dude the reason I watch you cause your real and authentic like some random dude I could meet on the street unlike the rest of these travel CZcamsrs who look like spoiled rich kids who use daddies money to travel the world
Israel is soo beautiful! ..... but to watch the video makes me shed tears.
My friend visited the west Bank and he was traumatised by the brutality going on out there
The PA is pretty brutal.
Great video! I have been watching your videos for years and I’ve been watching the Saluki too! Cool to see y’all doing a video together
The thing with rockets is…. If you see them in the sky and you see them moving… you’re okay… when you see them go up….. and stop… seemingly to stay in one spot or moving very slowly…. You’re in trouble… it means it’s coming right at you…. Stay safe..
If you see them go up, you wont see them going down, it will be too far away.
And you wont see them coming down, too fast.
not really. you won't see the rockets, and if you do your dead or seriously injured in mere seconds. it's too late by then
True... especially when we talk about home made rockets from Hamass... They are deadlier than the thousands of Tons of USA army bombs being constantly dropped on children of Gaza... scary for real. Stay safe! already over 12k children dead.
The people of Israel are so brave and resilient!
I pray for the release of the hostages and the safety of the IDF soldiers.
@SabbaticalTommy Thank you for taking the time to travel extensively through hostile areas, to present stories from many factions...And May God Bless ALL, Who Care, Help, And Share...✝️✝️✝️✝️⚡⚡⚡⚡🙏🙏🙏🙏
