    • @LordDavid04
      @LordDavid04 Před 6 lety +4

      I wouldn't call it a logistical challenge. Reykjavik's international airport is already a worldwide hub and of capacity. There may be a shortage of hotels, but this can be solved using temporary accommodation in cruise ships.
      The only issue would be the main venue. As their national arena merely seats 5,500. But it states to have a concert capacity of 11,000, which is sufficient.
      I'm sure many local Icelandic companies would jump on board and help finance the event.

      @kenyamamoto759 Před 6 lety +11

      ZeroOfficial [Eine offizielle Null] That is also true. But we know that the protocol wasn't developed yet because the 1958 contest was originally going to be hosted in the United Kingdom, when the Netherlands had won on 1957. The United Kingdom withdrew from the contest at the last minute, and so in search of another broadcaster to host, they chose the previous year's winner. The EBU liked the idea of the previous year's winner hosting the contest, and so that is what they've kept today.

      I actually could not. Every time I tried to watch Eurovision Live on CZcams or elsewhere, it says "not available in your country". Then I decided to change my country to various different nations, but somehow the computer knew where I was really from and I was never able to watch Eurovision live.

    It's kind of something that some people sort of emphasize that "Ukraine beat the 'favorite' Russia in 2016." It's as if Russia was even in second place, and it's as if the actual second place, Australia, was not a favorite either. As if, in addition, that Ukraine was not among the top contenders of the trophy because Ukraine was. I mean, people can just generally say that Ukraine beat all the other favorites, instead of emphasizing on just one particular "non-winner" (or "loser" some people may actually pointedly say) to juxtapose with Ukraine.

    It's lucky Ireland haven't won it recently as RTE have no money. They've had to sell part of their land off and it doesn't help that they pay some of their presenters outrageous salaries for a country with a small audience.
