I spent one week with the newest 2023 model of the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 and was a little surprised by some things I found. When this laptop comes from the factory, it is a little bottlenecked by the single-channel RAM. Also, it comes with an unoccupied RAM stick, meaning you can add an extra stick.

need a battery life/gaming comparison between the 2022 and 2023 models . That would be very helpful for me
I also prefer this way, I can add 16G myself for a total of 32G instead of paying huge premium for 32G.

Hello! I know this is a bit of an off topic, but I have a big question. I own the exact same model as shown in the video and I'm having trouble with changing my screen brightness. I really don't know if it's an AMD or NVidia or ASUS driver problem. So far, I have upgraded every single driver available from those companies and Windows is showing no updates are needed. Yet the problem persists. Have you found a fix for this issue? Thank you.
Can u try review zenbook pro 14 oled ux6404. It's like the g14 but more work oriented. Suppose to have better build quality than g14. And comparison with yoga pro 9i too

I do prefer it this way since i could get 32gb easier than the previous model when buying base model.

Asus tuf a15 : ryzen 7 6800h & 3060
Asus tuf f15 : i7 12700h & 3050 ti

Will it drop less 8k frames with 16GB soldered + 32GB stick installed (48GB RAM)? It probably needs 16GB graphics card more than the RAM.
What of we are purchasing now coming from a 2017 Surfacebook2? Its between the 2023 G14 Legion slim 7 gen 7 or i9 legion slim 7i gen 8.
The phrasing is a little misleading. The difference is not 16G vs 32G ram, rather 1 Dimm vs 2 Dimm of memory stick, or single vs dual channel.

You are right. Using the dual channels gives a significant performance uplift compared to just using a single channel.
my laptop boots twicw to start its the zephyrus 2022 rtx 3060 r7 6800. The rog logo appears initially, screen goes blank and then the rog logo reappears and then everything boots normally. What should I do? Is it fine that it boots twice?

Adding 16gb ram stick makes it quad channel. It should outperform the 16+32 if you are not occupying all the ram.

I WISH Asus would have taken this approach with the RAM from the Jump. I would have GREATLY preferred to have an empty slot on Purchase, than being Bound Eternally to an 8GB soldered and 8GB swappable. Trash design, its my ONLY Gripe with the 3060 R9 Model.

just change to better ram size/speed and ssd size/speed , for old laptops you can notice the boost, i have old 2016 laptop that i upgraded to ssd.

I don't think you need it. I have the 4080 version which has the native 16 gigs of ram.. I don't see the ram usage going above 70% no matter the game I'm playing. Everything still plays on ultra + ray tracing at consistentally high frames.
What about the Display? I assume its not the mini led version
The miniled version in only available on all model with 2560x1600 display. If that laptop has a 1920x1200, I’m sure it’s only IPS screen

At least that 16gb soldered is already dual channel, if you put 16gb sodimm in, you get quad channel
