    MotoGeekFreak, just wanted to say thanks for the concise and precise explanation of how to easily establish DMC Mesh groups. Additionally, thank you for your detailed answers to the questions asked in the comments. This was my first time viewing your videos but I will certainly check in regularly to see what new information you present. Great work.

    Hi, I got a smartpack dual set but now one of my units is not working properly, it won't speak to me even that I have it set up just like the other one, I could not pair it with my phone or anything, I have tried reset to factory setup, downgrade and upgrade back, but nothing seems to work, the other unit is working flawlessly, do you know anything I could do to fix that ? I worked ok a couple of days ant then this problem appeared, that you very much for your answer

    Hi, I have two packtalk unit. In All devices I try to change group from app, activation in waiting on phone screen. Than turn off the app and re open again but nothing's change. I can't change my group from phone. Only manually over cardo unit. Do you have any idea about it? Kind regards

    Yesterday I was riding with a group that we rode with in the spring and our cardos would not pair, we even tried pairing and still not. I'm thinking if you go through pairing on the units themselves you lose all previous pairing, is this true? I'm talking not going through the app. And just the unit themselves. I'm thinking they totally erased previous paired cardos.

    great videos !
    please, can you help me? I have a problem
    I cannot activate a CARDO group by APP and for this reason it is not possible to change it. When I want to connect with this group, the administrator must let me in at all times. Even being a member of this group.
    When I try, in the APP, to activate this group it does not open and then I cannot select it and I cannot join.
    thanks !

    Great videos very clear and precise. My question while in DMC mesh how do you stream music to a pillion

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks! I'm waiting for the exact same ability. As of this post, it can't do it in DMC Intercom Mode (does it in the far inferior Bluetooth Intercom Mode but....meh). I heard a little while back that it's in the works as part of a firmware update, so fingers crossed over here!

    MotoGeek Freak, thank you for these videos! They're so much better than Cardo's ones. I posted this question on another one of your videos but then I realized it was 2 years old.. Maybe I'll have better luck here so here it goes again.
    I just got a Bold Duo. Paired them in DMC and the found out that apparently we cannot share music in DMC. Is that so? Now my main question. If I get a Freecom 2 or Freecom 4 (for pillion) and bridge that one to my Bold can the bridged unit be included in the always-on intercom and listen to my music? We are trying to understand if we can have 3 Packtalk Bold (1 per motorcycle in DMC mode) and 3 Freecoms (each motorcycle’s respective pillion bridged to that bikes Bold unit) and be able to all be included in the intercom but share music rider to passenger

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 6 lety

      smarco111 smarco111 Okay, so sharing music (as of this post) is only do-able while in “Bluetooth Intercom Mode”, not “DMC Intercom Mode” (unfortunately!) BUT, in talking to their rep recently he said they are working on this sharing ability in DMC Mode as well, which would be awesome. DMC/Mesh Mode is by far the preferred way to use PACKTALK/Bold...it works better for Intercom I’m literally every way, so if they can add music sharing to this mode it will be huge. As far as I know, it’s not available with any Mesh headset to date. As for the pillions, you only need the FREECOM 2 (the FREECOM 4 has bigger range but you don’t need that for a pillion so it’s not worth the extra $$). Yes, you can absolutely Bridge them in for always on Intercom, but again, as of yet, they will have to listen to their own music. Hope that helps out a bit!!

    Great videos. Thanks. A basic question though - once configured do you essentially have an always-on open channel between you and the other riders in the group? Or is it voice activated, so that there is a gap between you saying something and the other riders hearing it? I am after an intercom which is always open so that you can have real-time conversations. These units sound like they might be the answer, but wanted to ask before splashing the cash. Thanks in advance.

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 5 lety +1

      Steve Brigden Thanks man. To answer your question; yes. When you create a group (could be as few as 2 people) in DMC, the Intercom is literally instant. It’s a totally different/better world from ANY Bluetooth-headset-type-format where you have to make a loud noise or click a button/wheel......wait.....then talk. With DMC, you’re doing your own thing...listening to music or whatever, and even if you haven’t spoken a word in 3 hours, the MOMENT you speak it “broadcasts” to the other rider(s).

    • @SteveBrigden
      @SteveBrigden Před 5 lety +1

      MotoGeek Freak Thanks. And while in DMC mode, can you still get Navigation commands through via Bluetooth from a Zumo? I just read the other comment about not being able to listen to music when in DMC. Really need Nav in addition to Intercom. I guess I assume this works as it must be the most common requirement, but it would be good if you confirm if you have tried this. Thanks again.

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 5 lety +1

      Steve Brigden Good questions. First, music DOES continue to play in the background. It just dims when anyone talks; works very well. As for GPS, you will also hear those; they will interrupt Intercom/music/FM radio entirely while the GPS is talking, then go away and everything resumes. Note: even though you’re in “DMC Intercom Mode”, you can still run Bluetooth devices (phone/gps/MP3 player/etc.) to the headset. DMC just pertains to the Intercom functionality...

      MotoGeek Freak Perfect! Thank you. I’m off to buy a set today. Off to France for a ride around in a few weeks and looking forward to trying them out on the trip.

    in dmc chat group can you stop the chat and go back to listen music alon and join when you feel like it ? sorry for my english :)

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 5 lety +2

      oZ_LiiberTy Good question, and Yes, you can “Mute the Group” which basically will temporarily remove you from the group chatter (so you can listen to music or just check-out for a bit) and also mutes your mic (perhaps so you can sing along to the music without offending anyone!? Lol!). When you “Un-Mute the Group”, you’re instantly back to comms.
      Basically: Yes- that is totally do-able. Hope that helps!!

    So, if the creator / admin doesn't turn up for the ride and you want to mesh a new DMC rider then a new group must be created? Bridging them in as a bluetooth device wouldn't let them "mesh" the group?? Have I answered my own questions? :-)

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 5 lety

      @Andrew Stenton If the creator/admin doesn't show up, the DMC group still works...no problemo. BUT, the creator/admin would need to be around if they wanted to add someone to THAT group (that's the only time the creator/admin is important, otherwise it's just a title:)) If they didn't want to just create an additional group, they COULD use "DMC Bridge" to bridge the newby into the group. The newby would still be able to talk/hear everyone in the group, but if the newby lost contact with the Packtalk that's bridging him/her into the group, then newby would lose contact with everyone. Hope that makes sense!

    Hi I Have a Freecom 4+ how would you go about joining DMC through the app or do I have to be in their Bluetooth connection

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 3 lety

      Hey there! So the Freecom 4+ doesn't have DMC, BUT, you can still pair-with and take part in a DMC group's conversation. See my video on "DMC-Bridge" feature. Basically, one of the DMC headsets can pair with you in Bluetooth Intercom Mode (on "Rider A Pairing"), then go back to DMC Intercom Mode and tap their Intercom button to bridge you in. At that point, you can talk to and hear everyone in that DMC group. Hope that makes sense and good luck!

    so if the admin or the created user is not present will a group still function? i am talking some of my friends into buying theese headsets and we often ride as a group, but also ride seperatly or with other members of the group with diffrent mmeber not present. so for instance i ride with my friend and i am going to set him up in my group, but if he rides just with his wife will that group still work and his 2 units pair without me as the admin present?

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 5 lety

      @abraham galloway That's EXACTLY how it'll work (nice job). The admin/creator of the group does NOT have to be present at all for the group to have comms. Once your group is made, if any member of your group is with another member of that same group, they'll be connected instantly once within range of each other. Just to further drive the point: say you're the admin/creator of a group of 4. Of course when all 4 of you are together, that'll work. But say its just rider 2 and rider 4 tomorrow...that'll work. Or say riders 1 and 2, then 3 meets up with them....that'll work. Then 1 splits to go meet with 4....that'll work (and riders 2 and 3 will still be connected as well). Hope that helps!

      @@MotoGeekFreak exactly what I wanted to know and thanks for the reply. , I do have 2 other questions but they don't apply to this video... Your videos rock by the way
      1. If you are in a private conversation can you still hear the group in the background so you can hear if someone needs to stop for gas or something but they can't hear you, or is the rest of the pack blocked out?
      Second if you buy the jbl 45 mm speakers let's say you have a second helmet with a dock like I do, once. It's set up with the 45 mm speakers will it still work with the original stock ones if I switch to my winter helmet

    Still unclear how to set up a dmc group using the app. You say your using the app, but in the tutorial you are actually not using the app to pair units to the group.

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 3 lety

      At the 1:12 mark, I mention there's the options to "Create New or Join a Group" at the bottom of the app. In this case, I selected "Create New", making the unit that's center screen the creator of this new group. For all the other units, I manually added them to the group using their buttons (the app only controls the single unit that it's paired to, so I would have needed a phone for each of those units and I just don't have that lol). If you were the one who was joining a group using the app, all you have to do is select "Join a Group" instead of "Create New". I hope that makes sense! Basically, once somebody selects "Create New", everyone else just selects "Join a Group" and that will do it.
