I think Lola vs powerman can be in the top 20 rock albums of all time. The songs are well composed, humorous and extremely meaningful in a variety of ways. Personally I believe that the Kinks can challenge the stones if not the beatles.

You release one a week - that's hard work, and we enjoy it a lot. I understand the decision to limit yourself to 20th century artists. There's a lot of unique talent out there, and you could've probably extended the list to include over three hundred songwriters. Ranking them objectively by impact and skill (as I feel you usually try to do) probably requires making a ton of hard choices - which a lot of people would unfortunately disagree with. But I'd say that this is a great list - I'm personally glad to see Tracy Chapman, Ray Davies and Merle Haggard celebrated. If I could include some honourable mentions, I would have added Morrissey and Tom Waits, for whom I was rooting. And that's all. The ones you've picked are all legends.

No Jimi Hendrix? No Ray Charles? No Mark Knopfler? Also metal is criminally underrepresented here, despite many iconic songs are literal poetry with deep meaning (Dio, Mustaine, duos Blackmore-Dio, Hetfield-Hammett, Ozzy-Iommi and some others could compete with some of the names on the list).
A fair list. Most people would agree with most of the people on the list. I would have included Warren Zevon, Tom Waits, John Prine, Jackson Browne, Bob Seger, Lucinda Williams, Nanci Griffith, Joan Armatrading, and Townes Van Zandt's great pal Guy Clark. Also, what about the pre-rock and roll 20th century songwriters such as Cole Porter, the Gershwins, Roger and Hart, etc? I don't think 50 is enough for a list like this.

A fair list. Most people would agree with most of the people on the list. I would have included Warren Zevon, Tom Waits, John Prine, Jackson Browne, Bob Seger, Lucinda Williams, Nanci Griffith, Joan Armatrading, and Townes Van Zandt's great pal Guy Clark. Also, what about the pre-rock and roll 20th century songwriters such as Cole Porter, the Gershwins, Roger and Hart, etc? I don't think 50 is enough for a list like this.
Garry Moore?? Desmond Child?? Max Martin?? Addie Van Halen?? The guys from ABBA?? But at the same time there are three members of The Beatles.
Missed Sufjan Stevens & Elliott Smith and Tbh Billy Joel isa bit high like he deserves to be on here but number 8 cmoon
Fagen/Becker and Ray Davies should both be higher (although I do appreciate them both getting recognized at all)

Ringo wasn’t really much of a songwriter I think he was always destined for the drums. Brian May maybe I could possibly kinda see but John Deacon and Roger Taylor are laughable.

Did you copy this list from some article or you created? I have been following you for a while and like your rankings, but this one is incredibly off, no Peter Gabriel, Cat Stavens, Tom York??? Michael Jackson did not write 20% of his songs.
